Pine Street Block Party

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 5 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH FREE

Join Connect Nashville for a Pine Street block party to support plans for a new bike-friendly, pedestrian bridge linking The Gulch and SoBro. Plus, food, drinks and giveaways.

 

Power Lunch Hour Yoga

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: ACME FEED & SEED FREE

Relax, re-energize and find your zen at this new midday yoga series. Sanctuary for Yoga’s talented staff will set up shop on Acme’s rooftop every Monday - Friday for a mixed level yoga class from noon - 1 pm. In celebration of the launch, classes are free through Friday, September 12. Classes are full price beginning Monday, September 15.

 

"LIT" Readings from Banned and Challenged Classics

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

Visit the library's courtyard as notable authors and citizens perform readings of banned and challenged books of classic literature. Robert Hicks, New York Times bestselling author of "The Widow of the South," will introduce the event and read the first passage from “To Kill a Mockingbird.” A second reading will be held at Corvidae Collective on Saturday, September 20. Plus, check out Corvidae Collective's September exhibit dedicated to artworks based on banned and challenged classics. Banned Books Week is September 21 - 27.

 

Life in Color

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 8:30 PM - 1:30 AM

Life in Color, known as "the world's largest paint party," transports fans into the ultimate mind-blowing, head-bumping and heart-pumping experience. Featuring the world's biggest DJs, soaring aerial acts, stilt walkers, contortionists and fire shows — all leading up to the famous paint blast.

 

Tennessee Volksfest

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 11 AM - 6 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE TO ATTEND

The Tennessee Volksfest presented by Hallmark Volkswagen will bring the look, feel and taste of Munich, Germany to Nashville. This two-day event features traditional German food, a beer garden, a kids' zone, live music and a vintage Volkswagen car show.

 

Music City Hot Wing Festival

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 11 AM - 8 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE $35 - $150; KIDS 12 & UNDER FREE

The Music City Hot Wing Festival will fill the air with the aroma of hot wings as teams vie for the title of Music City's Best Wings. More than 30 hot wing teams, 20 local restaurants and 25 craft breweries will come together to provide a day of great food and brew. Plus, live music by Robert Randolph & The Family Band, JJ Grey & Mofro, and more. A portion of proceeds will benefit The Bootstraps Foundation.

 

 

12th Annual Wine on the River

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 3 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: JOHN SEIGENTHALER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE $55 IN ADVANCE; $65 DAY OF FESTIVAL

A great atmosphere for wine novices and connoisseurs alike. A "world tour" of hundreds of wine, beer and spirit samples from 10 regions around the globe. Food vendors will also serve cuisine from the featured regions. Plus, live music by local jazz musicians. A portion of proceeds will benefit Hands On Nashville. 21+ event only. Attendees are invited to continue the festivities at the official after party at the Hard Rock Cafe for Live Band Karaoke on the rooftop patio. Note: bridge closure associated with this event. The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge will be partially closed from midnight Saturday, September 13 until midnight Sunday, September 14.

Courtyard Concerts: Riders in the Sky

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 7. Enjoy Riders in the Sky's mix of Western music and wacky humor when they perform on Tuesday, September 16.

 

Petey's Preds Party

This exciting evening includes a buffet-style dinner, a comedic performance by Nashville native Keith Alberstadt (veteran of "The Late Show with David Letterman," "SNL" and CMT's "Next Big Comic") and a world-class silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation and the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson's.

 

Americana Music Festival

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE

The 15th annual Americana Music Festival features four nights of approximately 175 live performances at venues throughout Nashville. Check out the nightly showcases at downtown venues including 3rd and LindsleyMercy LoungeThe High WattCannery BallroomThe Listening Room CafeStation InnThird Man Records and The Rutledge. Thousands of artists, fans and industry professionals from all over the world will gather for this festival honoring great music. A $50 wristband grants access to all of the venues every night of the festival. The festival will conclude with an outdoor concert featuring The Avett Brothers in Riverfront Park on Saturday, September 20. Eat Green for Tennessee

Visit one of the 25 local restaurants participating in Eat Green for Tennessee on Wednesday, September 17 to support local farm conservation and protecting the area's natural landscapes. Participating downtown locations include The 404 KitchenArnold's Country KitchenCapitol Grille at The Hermitage HotelFrothy MonkeyMerchants RestaurantParadise Park Trailer Resort and Food StandPub5 and Yazoo Brewing Company and Taproom. A percentage of sales will be donated to The Land Trust for Tennessee.

Stop! Take Notice

The community project Stop! Take Notice, founded by members of the Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School senior class, will launch a pedestrian safety and awareness campaign beginning Saturday, October 4 at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. The project emphasizes the necessity of driver and pedestrian awareness and safety by bringing attention to busy downtown intersections through collaborative art-making.
