Events This Week


Falling in Love with Street Food

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of 15 to 20 local food trucks to celebrate fall's upcoming arrival. Several of the trucks will introduce new menu items. The event will take place every other Thursday through November 13. Trucks will be parked on Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North.

 

Park(ing) Day

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 9 AM - 5 PM

More than 30 metered on-street parking spots across downtown will become temporary "park" installations all day on Friday, September 19. Check out these pocket parks and parklets on foot, Nashville B-cycle or your preferred mode of transportation. The parking spots will feature a wide variety of activities and installations including yoga, cornhole, hula hoops, an urban agricultural garden and more!

 

Night Market: Pepper Festival

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 5 PM - 8:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Enjoy shopping, wine from the cash bar, live music, artisan booths, kids' activities and much more at this event held on the third Friday of each month. Market House restaurants and shops will be open. Vendors in the farm sheds will sell local produce, meat, cheese, plants and more! This event will feature a pepper theme and will kick off the Pepper Festival, a weekend of free, flavorful activities at the Nashville Farmers' Market.

 

Walk Off Crime for No More Victims

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, REGISTRATION: 8:45 AM; WALK: 9:30 AM
LOCATION: JOHN SEIGENTHALER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE $20 IN ADVANCE; $25 DAY OF RACE

This fifth annual event is sponsored by You Have the Power, the Tennessee Department of Correction and TRICOR. You Have the Power is a non-profit founded by former Tennessee First Lady Andrea Conte with the mission to educate, advocate and empower people and communities who are impacted by violent crime. Celebrate the organization's 21 years of serving the community. The 5K walk begins and ends at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.

 

Healthy 4 Life

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 10 AM - 5 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTER FREE

WSMV Channel 4 will host this second annual event to help Middle Tennesseans lead a healthier life. The expo brings exhibitors and attendees together in a one-of-a-kind event focusing on health and wellness. Take advantage of free health screenings, exercise classes, cooking demonstrations, a kids' zone, a rock wall and more. Music City Food + Wine Festival

The second annual Music City Food + Wine Festival (formerly Music City Eats) is where national top chefs, winemakers and spirit experts meet with local talent to give you a taste of Nashville’s vibrant culinary scene. Curated by Nashville's own Kings of Leon, this two-day event is filled with bites and beverages to sample and savor as well as more than 30 demos and panels. Plus, Harvest Night at Walk of Fame Park on Saturday, September 20 lets attendees mix and mingle with the nation's brightest culinary stars while experiencing Nashville's legendary music scene. Honky-Tonkin’ – 20 Years on Lower Broad

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM MUSEUM ADMISSION REQUIRED

When the Opry moved to the suburbs in 1974, Nashville’s Broadway (commonly known as Lower Broad) began to succumb to the forces of urban decay. But in 1994, encouraged by the opening of the remodeled Ryman Auditorium, country artists like BR549, Paul Burch, Greg Garing and R.B. Morris moved into the honky tonks of Lower Broad and inspired a downtown renaissance that continues today. These musicians will perform and share stories about the 20th anniversary of the Lower Broad revival.

Catch The Avett Brothers as they headline the 15th annual Americana Music Festival in Riverfront Park! Growing up in Concord, North Carolina, the brothers immersed themselves in their musician father's record collection, falling in love with Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Since then, they have become genre stalwarts over the course of their seven albums. Plus, The Lone Bellow, Shakey Graves and Angaleena Presley will perform.

The official after party for The Avett Brothers concert! The party will include drink specials, live music and a rooftop dance party.
 

Urban Bike Ride

 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD FREE

Join Team Green and Nashville B-cycle for a beginner-friendly urban bike ride. Bring your own bike or check out a B-cycle from the Cumberland Park B-station (480 Music City Bikeway; Victory Way at the base of the Pedestrian Bridge) near LP Field. The ride starts and ends at this station. A B-cycle rental is only $5 for 24 hours of unlimited 60-minute trips. Team Green will lead attendees on an easy ride through some of East Nashville's bike-friendly neighborhoods. This event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to register in advance. Team Green will give away up to two free day passes for B-cycle riders who reserve their bike before the ride!

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy live jazz on the third Sunday of every month through October. Dana Robbins, Michael Fair and Denny Jiosa will perform on Sunday, September 21 in the park's amphitheater. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Food available for purchase from local food trucks.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Mandy Barnett

 

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 7. Mandy Barnett will perform classic country and pop standards as well as selections from her own albums on Tuesday, September 23.
