New restaurant and live music venue: City Winery!
609 Lafayette Street. 615-324-1010​. City Winery, with locations in New York City, Napa and Chicago, has opened its newest space in Nashville. City Winery features a 300-seat music venue, fine dining restaurant and fully functioning winery that is also available for private events. Hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday, 5 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 5 pm - 11 pm.


New restaurant: Party Fowl!
719 8th Avenue South. 615-624-8255. Party Fowl specializes in hot chicken and southern fried chicken. Plus, the eatery has 20 local brews on tap, hand-crafted cocktails and wine by the glass. The space also features live music. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 11 am - 10 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 10 am - 10 pm.


New special event venue: The Cordelle!
45 Lindsley Avenue. 615-354-8746. Located in downtown Nashville’s historic Rutledge Hill, The Cordelle is a unique event space that combines historic and new architecture with lush gardens. The Cordelle is venue for weddings, corporate events, private parties, art shows, music and fashion events, community gatherings and more.

Falling in Love with Street Food

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of 15 to 20 local food trucks to celebrate fall! Several of the trucks will introduce new menu items. The event will take place every other Thursday through November 13. Trucks will be parked on Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North.

 

"Renew the Light" Silent Auction

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 3 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: SERVICESOURCE FREE TO ATTEND

The third annual "Renew the Light" event and silent auction. Enjoy live music and bid on the extensive silent auction. Items include Titans and Predators tickets, memberships to hot yoga, CrossFit and pure barre classes, professional photo shoots, a golf outing at the Governor's Club and more. Plus, food and beverages available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 

The District's Progressive Party

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: THE DISTRICT $50 IN ADVANCE; $60 AT THE DOOR

The 28th annual Progressive Party begins at Tatyana (400 Broadway), continues to the rooftop at MJM Architects (105 Broadway) and ends at Acme Feed & Seed (101 Broadway). Tickets include complimentary parking, delicious food from downtown restaurants, wine and beer. Plus, musical entertainment at each stop. Tom Morales will receive the 2014 Spirit of The DISTRICT Award. Purchase tickets in advance online or buy at the event by arriving at Tatyana by 6 pm (before the party progresses to the second location). Proceeds from this event go to support The DISTRICT's holiday decorations and other projects.

 

AIDS Walk

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, REGISTRATION: 10 AM; WALK/RUN: 11 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE 5K RUN: $25; WALK: FREE, DONATIONS REQUESTED

The 23rd annual Nashville AIDS Walk raises money and awareness for the fight against HIV and AIDS. Festivities include a concert, an appearance by Chris Carmack of ABC's "Nashville," a community and business fair, children's activities, food trucks and more. The walk is approximately 3.1 miles long and takes 45 minutes to one hour to complete. Kids and pets are welcome and water is provided for all registered walkers. Registration begins at 10 am and the walk/run begins at 11 am.​ Please note: road closures associated with this event. Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North) and the lane closest to Public Square on 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to Charlotte Avenue) will be closed from 7 am to 3 pm on Saturday, October 4. Plus, streets along the course will be closed beginning as early as 11 am and ending as late as 1 pm.

 

First Saturday Art Crawl

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. The performance platforms along 5th Avenue will feature live music by Prost Percussion and the Storm Kings. See this month's gallery map. Two free shuttles will circulate the route from 6 pm to 10 pm. Please note: road closure associated with this event. The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, October 4. Bandaloop

 

MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1 PM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: UBS TOWER FREE

The innovative and internationally lauded vertical dance company Bandaloop will present "Look Up Nashville!" on Monday, October 6 on the UBS Tower. Using this 28-story skyscraper as a backdrop, Bandaloop dancers will perform a one-of-a-kind, site-responsive performance that is free and open to the public.

 

Food Truck Tuesdays

LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE

First Baptist Nashville welcomes the return of Food Truck Tuesdays during the month of October only! Trucks will be stationed at 7th Avenue South and Demonbreun, facing Music City Center. Seating available. Trucks scheduled for Tuesday, October 7 include Electric Sliders, Mobile Chef, Smokin' Thighs and Bradley's Curbside Creamery.

 

Courtyard Concerts: San Rafael Band

The Bee

In this fast-paced, adult spelling bee, teams of six will compete for the title of Spelling Bee Champion while supporting the community. Admission includes complimentary beer, wine and bites. Nashville B-cycle

Enjoy cooler fall temperatures with a ride on a Nashville B-cycle! 225 bright red bikes are located at 25 automated B-stations around town. 24-hour memberships are $5 and annual memberships are $50. Nashville B-cycle is priced for quick rides. After joining, you can take an unlimited number of rides during your membership period with no additional charge for the first hour of any ride. Usage fees apply for all rides that exceed one hour. Nashville B-cycle: bikes you love and leave!
