First Saturday Art Crawl

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. The performance platforms along 5th Avenue will feature live music by The Ukedelics and Greg Bryant. See this month's gallery map. A few downtown locations will be open especially for the crawl. Karma (302 Church Street) will host the second annual Day of the Dead spoken word multimedia event in partnership with Sisterhood of the Tamale. Enjoy free wine and tamale appetizers as you listen to original storytelling by various artists. The store will also feature 25% off clothing until 10 pm. Plus, the Downtown Presbyterian Church (154 5th Ave N) will have art on display in its Browsing Room Gallery, which celebrates 20 years of supporting local artists this month. Restaurants in The Arcade that will be open for dinner during the crawl include Ajora Kitchen, an Ethiopian restaurant, and Manny's House of Pizza.

2014 CMA Awards

Country superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will team up for the seventh time to host the 48th Annual CMA Awards, country's most anticipated show of the year. Please note: road closures associated with this event. The following roads will be closed as early as 6 am on Wednesday, November 5 until as late as 4 am on Thursday, November 6: Demonbreun (4th Avenue South to 8th Avenue South), 5th Avenue South and 6th Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun), 7th Avenue South (Demonbreun to Broadway) and McGavock (7th Avenue South to 8th Avenue South). From 6 am to 10 pm on Wednesday, November 5, the southbound lane on 4th Avenue from Broadway to Demonbreun will be closed. In addition to the CMA Awards, other events happening in this footprint are ABC's "Good Morning America" and the CMA's red carpet. Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items. Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager.
