Music City Thanksgiving Day Run

 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 8 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE RESCUE MISSION $35 IN ADVANCE; $40 RACE DAY

This third annual race will begin and end at the Nashville Rescue Mission and go through the streets of downtown Nashville. Runners can choose either a four or eight mile course. Participants are encouraged to bring a frozen turkey to packet pickup or on race day to be donated to the Nashville Rescue Mission. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Lafayette Street (Lea Avenue to Korean Veterans Boulevard) will be closed from 5 am until as late as 11:30 am. The remainder of the roads along the course will be closed from as early as 8 am until as late as 10 am.

 

Nashville Predators vs. Edmonton Oilers

 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 7 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $33 - $300

Shake up typical Thanksgiving plans by catching the Nashville Predators as they host the Edmonton Oilers.

 

Deck the Hall

 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 4 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

Celebrate the holiday season with the Country Music Hall of Fame's annual Deck the Hall event. Festivities include the lighting of its 30-foot Christmas tree and a live performance by Country Music Hall of Fame member Brenda Lee. Lee will perform several songs, including her classic 1958 hit "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." An autograph signing will follow. Free hot chocolate and cider will be provided. Plus, the festivities will continue on Saturday, November 29 with the Deck the Hall Concert with Ronnie Milsap.

Nashville's all-American holiday tradition celebrates its sixth anniversary. Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his unflappable campaign to get Santa (or anyone else) to give him a "legendary official Red Rider carbine-action 200 shot range-model air rifle."

 

Challenge in Music City: College Basketball Tournament

 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28 - SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: 5 PM AND 7:30 PM; SUNDAY: 1 PM AND 3:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $22/DAY

The inaugural Challenge in Music City event is a three-day college basketball tournament over Thanksgiving weekend. Participating teams include Drake University, Murray State University, University of Portland and Valparaiso University. Tickets are $22 per day. Click here for a complete schedule of events.

 

En Fuego: Black Friday Edition

College Football Saturdays


SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1 PM - 3 PM
LOCATION: POUR HOUSE NASHVILLE: BURGERS, BOURBON AND BREWS FREE

Enjoy one of the final College Football Saturdays of the season at Pour House Nashville. Lightning 100 will broadcast live from 1 pm - 3 pm as you cheer on your favorite teams. Plus, delicious food, drink specials and giveaways — including the grand prize of two SEC Championship tickets. This weekly event continues through December 6.

 

Winter Nash Bash

The Ryman Auditorium is welcoming the holiday season with the inaugural Winter Nash Bash. An impressive line up of country music artists will perform including Clint Black, Parmalee, Easton Corbin, Joe Diffie and Maddie & Tae. Hosted by Blair Garner, Terri Clark and Chuck Wicks from "America’s Morning Show." Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for a child or senior in need to be donated to the Salvation Army’s Forgotten Angels program. Plus, guests will receive a complimentary gift from the Doug Jeffords Company.

 

Holiday Concert: The Providence Players

 

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 10:45 AM - 11:30 AM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The Providence Players, an ensemble of musicians who play the recorder and keyboard, will present a holiday concert in the library's courtyard gallery. They will perform a selection of favorite carols and Hanukkah songs including "Jolly Old St. Nicholas," "Silent Night" and "My Dreidel."
