A long-running Christmas tradition, the Waffle Shop will serve homemade waffles, turkey hash, Southern grits, linked sausages, spiced tea and coffee. Plus, live music, a silent auction, baked goods sale and gift shop. All proceeds benefit the homeless ministries of the Downtown Presbyterian Church.

This unique fundraising event will feature Titans' starting linebacker and defensive captain Wesley Woodyard along with several of his teammates. Be a part of one of Nashville's favorite holiday traditions. Approximately 2,000 runners and walkers will light the way along the 5K course for the 61st Annual Nashville Christmas Parade. Plus, a Dasher's Dash for children ages 2 - 6 beginning at 5:15 pm. All participants are encouraged to wear their best holiday costumes. Start and finish line near the south end zone of LP Field. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Closures begin at 4 pm and end at 8 pm on Friday, December 5. Closures include Victory Avenue (Titans Way to South 1st Street), Russell Street (South 1st Street to Woodland Street), Woodland Street Bridge, Union Street (1st Avenue North to 2nd Avenue North), 2nd Avenue North (Union Street to Broadway), Broadway (2nd Avenue to 10th Avenue), 3rd Avenue South (Broadway to Demonbreun) and 1st Avenue South (Broadway to Korean Veterans Boulevard). Mayor Karl Dean will launch Nashville's holiday season by lighting the city's Christmas tree, a 38-foot Norway Spruce. The mayor will flip the switch to the tree and the wreaths decorating the Historic Courthouse and Founders' Tower. Eric Close (Mayor Teddy Conrad on ABC's "Nashville") will join Mayor Dean. Plus, performances by Aubrey Peeples (Layla Grant on "Nashville"), the Nashville Symphony Chorus and Lunch Break (a quartet from the Barbershop Harmony Society). Brenda Lee is also scheduled to make a guest appearance. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be provided by The DISTRICT. The tree lighting kicks off the 61st Annual Nashville Christmas Parade.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 7 PM

The 61st Annual Nashville Christmas Parade celebrates "Sharing the Warmth." The parade boasts more than 80 participants including 23 floats, eight large balloons like the Macy's Parade in NYC and 16 marching bands from across the Southeast filling the streets with magical sounds of the holiday season. Eric Close (Mayor Teddy Conrad on ABC's "Nashville") is the parade's grand marshal. This year's route begins on the Woodland Street Bridge, travels south on 2nd Avenue and marches down Broadway to 9th Avenue. The parade, hosted by Piedmont Natural Gas, will benefit Piedmont's Share the Warmth Round Up program. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include the Woodland Street Bridge, Union Street (1st Avenue North to 3rd Avenue North), 2nd Avenue North (Union Street to Broadway) and Broadway (2nd Avenue to 12th Avenue). Closures begin at 4 pm and are rolling road closures. All roads will re-open by 9 pm.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6, 10:45 AM - 12:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE
Enjoy two back-to-back holiday performances in the library's courtyard gallery. Nashville’s own ukulele band, The Ukedelics, will perform seasonal favorites from 10:45 am - 11:30 am. The Nashville Belles, an all-female a cappella group, will perform beautiful four-part arrangements of holiday songs from noon - 12:30 pm.
Children of all ages are invited to share their Christmas lists with Santa and pose for a photo. Timed passes are available in 15-minute increments. Museum members may reserve their passes in advance. This event will be offered every Saturday until Christmas.
The Blair School of Music's Suzuki Strings will perform songs of the season in an event that has become a holiday tradition at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. Enjoy the talents of approximately 50 Blair School of Music’s violin and cello students ages 5 – 13. In addition to traditional carols, the students will perform classical works by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi.
This 11th annual holiday gathering will begin with a special viewing of "It's A Wonderful Life" at 5 pm. A festive reception will follow in the ballroom complete with food, drinks, live music, dancing and a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the Wonderful Life Foundation, a nonprofit that seeks to ease the financial burdens encountered by families of children with cancer. Advanced registration encouraged.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE
Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. The performance platform on 5th Avenue will feature live music by the Free Spirit Gospel Choir. See this month's gallery map. Two free shuttles will circulate the route from 6 pm to 10 pm. Please note: road closure associated with this event. The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, December 6. Nashville's own version of this timeless holiday classic tells the tale of Clara, a young girl who goes on a fantastic journey with the help of her magical uncle Drosselmeyer. Approximately 200 dancers perform to the famous music of Tchaikovsky, introducing audiences to beloved characters such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King, the Nutcracker, the Dancing Bear and historic characters from Nashville's past.

First Baptist Nashville is ushering in the Christmas season beginning Sunday, December 7. This year's theme is "He Shall Be Called." The evening will feature the Children's, Youth and Sanctuary Choirs along with the Sanctuary Orchestra. Plus, visual interpretations and dramatic readings will accompany the music of the season. The service will be tailored in the tradition of the "Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols."

Pulitzer Prize Award-winning author Richard Ford will discuss his latest work, "Let Me Be Frank With You: A Frank Bascombe Book." The book continues the story of Ford's celebrated character Frank Bascombe and his take on American life from the '80s into the 21st century. A book signing will follow.
