Downtown Nashville's New Year's Eve Events
Want to get a jump start on your New Year's Eve plans? We've got you covered. Our online calendar features more than 40 New Year's Eve events from dinners to concerts to parties throughout downtown. Next week's edition of this newsletter will highlight these events. Please note: several road closures are planned throughout downtown for the Music City New Year's Eve Bash on Broadway and various Music City Bowl events. Some road closures will begin as early as Saturday, December 27. Most closures will begin on Wednesday, December 31. All roads will re-open by midnight on Friday, January 2. Events This Week
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, MEAL: 11:30 AM; SERVICES: 1 PM AND 11 PM
LOCATION: MCKENDREE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FREE
McKendree United Methodist Church is offering two candlelight Christmas Eve services at 1 pm and 11 pm. Plus, a Christmas Eve meal at 11:30 am benefiting the homeless community.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 5 PM AND 8 PM
LOCATION: FIRST BAPTIST NASHVILLE FREE
Two Christmas Eve services featuring carols, candles and communion. The 5 pm service will include soloists and great carols of the season in the sanctuary. The 8 pm service will feature holiday music with a contemporary flair in the Fellowship Hall.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24 - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, WEDNESDAY: 12:15 PM, 4 PM AND 11 PM; THURSDAY: 10 AM
LOCATION: CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL FREE
Christmas Eve services featuring Holy Eucharist at 12:15 pm and 4 pm. Solemn Holy Eucharist at 11 pm (music begins at 10:15 pm). Christmas Day service with Holy Eucharist at 10 am.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24 - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, WEDNESDAY: 5 PM AND MIDNIGHT; THURSDAY: 12:10 PM
LOCATION: ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH FREE
A 5 pm and midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Plus, a service at 12:10 pm on Christmas Day.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24 - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, WEDNESDAY: 5:30 PM AND 10:30 PM; THURSDAY: 10 AM
LOCATION: FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH ELCA FREE
Two candlelight services on Christmas Eve featuring traditional carol singing and Holy Communion at 5:30 pm and 10:30 pm (music begins at 10 pm for the second service). Plus, a 10 am worship service on Christmas Day. Free parking is available in the lot on the corner of 8th Avenue South and McGavock Street.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24 - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, WEDNESDAY: 6 PM; THURSDAY: 11 AM
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH FREE
Candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6 pm featuring communion and favorite hymns. Plus, a relaxed and joyful Christmas Day worship service with communion and hymns at 11 am.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24 - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, DINNER: 5 PM - 9 PM; BRUNCH: 10 AM - 2 PM

Kitchen Notes, located inside the Omni Nashville Hotel, is offering a unique three-course dinner on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Options include New York strip loin steak, molasses-roasted duck breast, Southern coconut cake and more. Plus, a Christmas Day brunch buffet with breakfast items, a carving station, a chilled seafood display, a kids' buffet, desserts and more. Click here to view both menus. Enjoy a special Christmas buffet from 11 am - 3 pm at Commerce Street Grille, located inside the Nashville Renaissance Hotel. Two options for your Christmas meal: brunch or dinner. The brunch buffet menu by Executive Chef Tyler Brown includes three carving stations, a variety of traditional side items, a grand dessert display and more. Enjoy a delicious family-style dinner while relaxing in Prime 108's elegant atmosphere, located inside the Union Station Hotel. Menu items include smoked turkey pate with everything crackers, butternut squash and apple bisque with pumpkin seed brittle, "turducken" with sausage and cornbread dressing and cajun pan gravy, a variety of seasonal sides, traditional holiday desserts and more. MONDAY, DECEMBER 29, 4 PM - 6:30 PM
LOCATION: THE DISTRICT FREE
Gather at the corner of 1st Avenue and Broadway for a full evening of free events to usher in the 2014 Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl! The evening will begin with the second annual Hot Chicken Eating World Championship from 4 pm - 4:45 pm. An outdoor concert featuring Trace Adkins will follow at 5 pm. Then, watch as the marching bands and cheerleaders from the University of Notre Dame and Louisiana State University perform and "battle" against each other from 5:40 pm - 6:30 pm. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include 1st Avenue (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Church Street), Broadway (1st Avenue to 4th Avenue), 2nd Avenue (Demonbreun Street to Commerce Street), Demonbreun Street (1st Avenue South to 2nd Avenue South) and Molloy Street (1st Avenue South to 2nd Avenue South). Closures begin as early as 6 am on Saturday, December 27 until as late as midnight on Friday, January 2.
Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery has a variety of specialty winter brews on tap. On Monday, December 29, join its head brewer and sample five of these seasonal beers for free.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 10:15 AM - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: THE DISTRICT FREE
Enjoy pre-game activities at the corner of 1st Avenue and Broadway building up to the 2 pm Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl kick off at LP Field. The University of Notre Dame's pep rally will be from 10:15 am - 10:45 am, followed by Louisiana State University's from 11 am - 11:30 am. Jason Eskridge will take the stage for a free outdoor concert from 11:45 am - 1:30 pm. Please note: the same road closures apply as listed above for Battle of the Bands. Plus, Woodland Street and Union Street (3rd Avenue North to South 1st Street) will be closed on Tuesday, December 30 from 10:30 am until 90 minutes after the conclusion of the game.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2 PM
LOCATION: LP FIELD $22 - $297
Now in its 17th year, the 2014 Bowl matches teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). This year's game is between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisiana State University Tigers. This is both teams' first trip to the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl and their first on-field match up since the 2007 Sugar Bowl. Tickets are available for purchase online or on game day at the gate.
