Beethoven's Seventh

Exuberant and bursting with energy, Beethoven's Seventh Symphony is one of the composer's greatest achievements. Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 sparkles with elegance and exotic melodies that earned it the nickname "Turkish" — and the stunning soloist Caroline Goulding will bring it to life. Opening the concert, Wagner's "Siegfried Idyll" is an intimate piece, with music taken from his epic "Ring" cycle. Plus, a date package option is available including two tickets, two glasses of wine and two chocolate truffles.

American Songwriter Magazine's 30th Anniversary Show

American Songwriter Magazine is kicking off the new year by celebrating its 30th anniversary at City Winery. The event will feature performances by Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Jim Lauderdale, John Oates, Elizabeth Cook, Andrew Combs, Cory Branan and more.

Join Human Rights Campaign Nashville for a night of music and empowerment. HRC Nashville is teaming up with some of Music City's most talented female singer/songwriters to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the LGBTQI community in 2014 and take a look at the year ahead. Mindy Smith will be joined by Maggie Rose, Shelly Fairchild, Cheley Tackett and Bonnie Baker to create a night of music not to be missed.

 

Public Symposium: Sanctity Pictured

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $40 NON-MEMBERS; $30 MEMBERS; $20 STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts will hold a public symposium to coincide with its major exhibit "Sanctity Pictured: The Art of the Dominican and Franciscan Orders in Renaissance Italy." The all-day event will bring together art historians from America and Europe whose research focuses on the role of the Dominicans and Franciscans in the great flowering of art and architecture in Italy during the period 1200 - 1550. Registration includes gallery admission, discounted parking and a boxed lunch. Click here to register.

 

A Conversation with Nashville's Next Mayor

 

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: CITY WINERY $50

Join a panel discussion featuring Nashville's mayoral candidates. The lunch event will serve as an opportunity for the candidates to present their platforms and opinions about Music City. Candidates scheduled to attend include Megan Barry, Charles Robert Bone, David Fox, Jeremy Kane and Linda Rebrovick. The event is open to the public with advance registration. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online.

Be Cheap with BEEP!

During Bridgestone Arena events, park for free at LP Field Lot R. Optional round-trip shuttle service is $3 per person with a convenient drop-off point near the arena. Click here for details. (Tip: You don't have to attend an event at Bridgestone to use this service. However, the free parking is only available on the stated event dates).
