Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater

The Belcourt Theatre and Third Man Records are teaming up to present a film screening of "Double Play: James Benning and Richard Linklater" at Third Man Records on Thursday, January 15. The event is a part of the Light and Sound Machine, a monthly series that screens avant-garde, experimental and hard-to-find films. Bacchanalian Society Wine Event

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $15

Bacchanalian Society events are relaxed, social, blind wine tastings with a twist. Teams of one to three people will compete against one another and winning teams will take home unopened bottles of wine. CMT Hot 20 Countdown: Studio Audience Opportunity

 

THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 9 AM AND 1 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Be part of the audience for CMT's "Hot 20 Countdown." Two segments: 9 am and 1 pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive one hour before show time. RSVP to come to either segment or both. Attire for this event is "country concert." No sequins, logos, brand names, bright colors (white, pink or yellow) or handbags. Lunch is usually provided for those who stay for both segments. Curator's Tour: Sanctity Pictured

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

Early Dominicans and Franciscans used art to tell stories such as Saint Francis preaching to the birds, Saint Dominic’s soul ascending to heaven on ladders extended to earth by Christ and the Virgin, and Saint Clare rescuing a child mauled by a wolf. Join Trinita Kennedy, exhibition curator, as she explores how Dominican and Franciscan images encouraged belief in the miraculous in Renaissance Italy.

 

High Stakes for Harmony

The Crescendo Club presents its inaugural poker tournament. Enjoy a Wild West-themed evening with plenty of card-playing, high-stakes betting and a silent auction. The tournament begins at 4 pm and tickets include four drink tickets and buy-in. Stick around for a cocktail party from 5:30 pm - 7 pm. Admission includes two drink tickets. A semiannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Texaco Country Showdown

 

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 7 PM
LOCATION: RYMAN AUDITORIUM FREE

The 33rd Annual Texaco Country Showdown hosted by LeAnn Rimes. Five national finalists each representing a sponsoring radio station will compete for $100,000 and the title, Best New Act in Country Music. The year-long competition begins each spring with more than 450 live shows produced by country radio stations. Trattoria Il Mulino Job Fair

Trattoria Il Mulino, the restaurant concept from iconic Il Mulino New York, is coming soon to the Hilton Nashville Downtown. The restaurant is hosting a job fair for professionals in the hospitality and restaurant fields. Available positions include servers, hosts, cooks, sommelier, sous chefs, bartenders, managers and an event coordinator. On-site hiring available.

New year, new you! Purchase an annual membership and use BCycle to achieve your health goals. Annual memberships are only $50 - much cheaper than a gym membership. 225 bright red bikes are located at 25 convenient BStations around town. Nashville BCycle is priced for quick rides. After joining, you can take an unlimited number of rides during your membership period with no additional charge for the first hour of any ride. Usage fees apply for all rides that exceed one hour. Nashville BCycle: bikes you love and leave!
