Nashville Humane Association Benefit

 

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: BAILEY'S SPORTS GRILLE FREE

Enjoy a complimentary sampling of Bailey's signature dishes, including drunken chicken tenders, tavern wings, Napa spinach salad, hummus and black forest sliders. Featured signature cocktails will be available for $4 each and draft beers for $2 each. Bailey’s will donate 10% of sales for the entire day to the Nashville Humane Association, which is committed to finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation and promoting the humane treatment of animals.

Johnny Cash Birthday Celebration

In a two-day bash kicking off Friday, February 27, fans will be treated to appearances by Johnny Cash's family members and former band mates in a series of events to celebrate the late singer's 83rd birthday. Tickets for this event include an all-access pass including unlimited museum admission, admittance to all events, musical performances and more. Special guests include Tommy Cash, Joanne Cash, Johnny Western, W.S. Holland Band and more. Tickets only available online.

 

Lecture: Telling Tales or Telling Truth: How Artists Created America

 

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

The exhibit "Telling Tales: Stories and Legends in 19th-Century American Art" assembles paintings and sculptures that recount stories relating to American cultural tastes, aspirations, and, at times, contradictions that marked the first full century of the new democracy. This lecture will look at how artists drew inspiration from classical sources to explore contemporary issues of the nineteenth century. Presented by Bailey Van Hook, professor of art history at Virginia Tech.

 

Wine & Dine 2015

Nashville Junior Chamber presents the third annual Wine and Dine. The event features cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a live date auction featuring Nashville's most eligible singles and a silent auction. Admission includes two drink tickets and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Tennessee. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.

Lenten Lecture Series with Victor Judge

On Wednesday nights during Lent, Victor Judge will lead an exploration of three of Flannery O'Connor's short stories in order to construct her "theology of writing as an incarnational art." Judge of Vanderbilt University Divinity School will lead the five-week series. Optional dinner provided before ($5 for adults; $3 for children). RSVP required for the meal. OnStage is designed for adult audiences to interact with Nashville Symphony musicians in a relaxed, informal setting. OnStage features an intimate performance, with the audience sitting right on the stage of Laura Turner Concert Hall. This free evening of music, wine and good conversation is a wonderful way to get to know the Nashville Symphony musicians, meet other music lovers and explore the history and artistry behind some of the greatest pieces of music ever written. FOX 17 and some of Nashville's top companies are joining forces to bring Middle Tennessee's best talent and employers together. All job-seekers and career changers are welcome to attend this free event that will feature close to 40 companies. The event includes private interviews, networking opportunities and breakout sessions designed to help prospective employees with resume review, interviewing skills, social media advice and more.

Road Closures for the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Expo

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26 - TUESDAY, MARCH 10

The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Expo is a private event to be held at the Music City Center Wednesday, March 4 - Saturday, March 7. As North America’s largest indoor-outdoor products show, the event will attract more than 350 exhibitors and 8,000 attendees. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 5th Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun) and Demonbreun (5th Avenue South to 4th Avenue South) will be closed beginning as early as 6 am on Thursday, February 26 until as late as midnight on Tuesday, March 10. Click here for additional information.
