New coffee shop: Bongo Java Cafe!
Johnny Cash Museum. 119 3rd Avenue South. 615-256-1777. This new coffee house opened today! The shop offers a wide variety of coffee drinks and breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Click here for the food and beverage menu. Hours of operation are Monday - Sunday, 8 am - 8 pm. 

 

New retail option: Southernaire Market!
Pinnacle at Symphony Place. 150 3rd Avenue South. 615-724-1762. A corner market featuring locally and regionally-sourced artisanal products, produce and ingredients, a butcher counter full of fresh meat and seafood selections, French-pressed coffee, made-to-order paninis and other options for lunch. Plus, a selection of craft brews by the bottle. Hours of operation are Monday - Sunday, 10 am - 5:30 pm.

Death of a Salesman

With its 1949 Broadway opening, "Death of a Salesman" struck a chord with audiences, and each generation since has embraced the play as an expression of their own struggle to achieve the American dream. In this Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Arthur Miller redefined the tragic hero in Willy Loman – the aging, failing salesman who makes his living riding on a smile and a shoeshine.

 

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 10 AM - 2:30 PM

Enjoy a gathering of over 15 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. This event is scheduled to take place every other Thursday, weather permitting.

 

Dirty Pages Dinner

Every cook has that one stained page, that one recipe that resonates deeply and connects her to the past. The Dirty Pages exhibit celebrates those time-worn recipes and the women behind them and will run through Sunday, April 19 at the Nashville Farmers' Market. Celebrate a kick off dinner on Thursday, March 19 prepared by men who want to honor the women in their lives. St. Patty’s Improv Comedy Show

LOCATION: CITY WINERY $10 IN ADVANCE; $12 AT THE DOOR

LOL Nashville presents their St. Patrick's comedy improv show on Friday, March 20 at City Winery at 10 pm. This comedy troupe is known for its hilarious, fast-paced short-form as well as its unique long-form improv styles. Every part of every show is unscripted and made up on the spot with the help of audience suggestions. It is strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as these shows typically sell out quickly. 

 

Nashville Predators Fangtastic 5K Run/Walk

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 21, RACE BEGINS: 10 AM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $45 IN ADVANCE; $50 RACE DAY

This annual 5K takes runners and walkers through downtown Nashville and the surrounding area, beginning and ending at Bridgestone Arena. The entry fee includes a 5K t-shirt and a voucher for one upper-level ticket to an upcoming Preds game. Click here for more information and to register in advance. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 5th Avenue South (Broadway to Demonbreun) and Demonbreun (5th Avenue South to 6th Avenue South) will be closed from 7 am until 1 pm on Saturday, March 21. Jazz on the Move

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 3 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

The Nashville Jazz Workshop, in collaboration with the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, presents the ninth season of the popular jazz performance and education series, Jazz on the Move. Each installment features a lecture and performance highlighting a major figure or period in jazz history. Presented by Nashville’s top jazz artist and educators, the series offers audiences world class music as well as an opportunity to learn more about jazz. This series will continue into April with an event each month. The Sunday, March 22 event will pay tribute to Tito Puente featuring Lalo Davila.

 

Music City Half Marathon & 10K

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 22, HALF MARATHON: 7:30 AM; 10K: 7:45 AM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE $85 - $95 HALF MARATHON; $40 - $45 10K

The ninth annual Music City Half Marathon and 10K. Both courses begin and end at Public Square, traveling north out of downtown. Beer Dinner

Party Fowl is teaming up with Turtle Anarchy Brewing Company to present a unique five-course dinner with beer pairings. 23rd Annual Tin Pan South

Tin Pan South is the world's largest songwriters' festival. It's (almost) spring and getting around downtown is easy! Hop a ride to the Farmers' Market for lunch or to shop, catch happy hour in The Gulch, see the newest exhibit at the Frist, attend a concert at the Ryman ... the possibilities are endless. Music City Circuit makes it even easier to travel to destinations around downtown! Click here for the route maps. The best part? This service is free. NOTE: the routes for the green and blue lines changed a few months ago and now make it easier for office workers in the downtown core to use this service.

Cheap Parking Options

Park for only $3 weeknights after 6 pm and all day Saturday or Sunday at the Metro Courthouse Garage. Or, pay only $5 after 5 pm on weeknights or all day Saturday or Sunday at the Library Garage.
