Events This Week

Lightning 100's Vinyl Night with Moon Taxi



On the fourth Thursday of every month, visit Bongo Java inside Omni Nashville Hotel for Lightning 100’s Vinyl Night. Wells Adams will host a night of spinning vinyl from rare selections to new ones. This week, Moon Taxi will co-host and spin their vinyl collection. Plus, bring your own vinyl and they'll feature yours. Bongo Java will have an expanded menu with savory and sweet snacks, pour over options, local beers, wines and drink specials from Belle Meade Bourbon.


Pixar in Concert



For the first time in its history, Pixar presents a compilation of clips from its 13 feature films, with the music performed live by a full symphony orchestra. On a big screen, you’ll watch highlights from your favorite Pixar films, including "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo," "Cars," "Up," "Brave," "Monsters Inc." and more, all while the Nashville Symphony brings the soundtrack vividly to life.


Street Food Thursdays


THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. This event takes place every other Thursday through the fall.


Standup Paddleboarding Tours



Enjoy a new view of downtown as you paddle down the Cumberland River and pass some of Music City's most unique sites and sounds. The paddleboard tour begins and ends at Riverfront Park. All skill levels are welcome and all equipment is provided. The tour is offered every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through September.


Peach Yo' Self


FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 4 PM - 8 PM

Jackalope Brewing Company is hosting Peach Yo' Self, a party to celebrate the bond of peaches and beer. The Peach Truck will be on-site and will debut a small batch of Jackalope's Peach Saison, which was brewed with more than 40 pounds of Peach Truck peaches. The Lightning 100 Artist of the Week will perform live. Plus, tasty peach baked goods from local bakery Littlest Love and peach pork sliders from Wicked Kitchen.


Nashville Pride Festival



The Nashville Pride Festival is a two-day event celebrating the LGBT community. The festival features musical entertainment on two stages, more than 125 vendors in the artists' village, food and plenty of surprises. Performers include St. Lucia, Mya, The Veronicas and more. The Equality Walk on Saturday, June 27 at 10 am begins at the corner of Union Street and 2nd Avenue North. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Festival closures include Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 4th Avenue North) and 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to Charlotte Avenue) from 9 am on Friday, June 26 until 11 pm on Saturday, June 27. Plus, additional road closures will be in place for the Equality Walk. Union Street (1st Avenue North to 5th Avenue North), 5th Avenue North (Union Street to Commerce Street), Commerce Street (2nd Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) and 2nd Avenue North (Commerce Street to Union Street) will experience rolling road closures from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday, June 27. Frist Fridays: Al (Piper) Green & The Hard Times


FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 6 PM - 9 PM

Now in its 13th year, this popular summer series takes place on the final Friday of June, July and August. Attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, light snacks and beverages as well as the diverse exhibits on view in the Frist Center’s galleries including Italian Style: Fashion since 1945. Al (Piper) Green & The Hard Times will kick off the series with its Memphis soul in the courtyard on Friday, June 26. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Frist Fridays take place rain or shine.


3rd Annual Whiskey & Bourbon Tasting


FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 7 PM - 9:30 PM

Join Nashville City Club for its third annual bourbon and whiskey tasting event. Experts in the field will present about 30 different bourbons and whiskeys. Plus, a heavy selection of hors d'oeuvres specifically created to complement the tastings and live music. This event always sells out, so make sure to RSVP in advance by calling 615-244-3693.


Nashville Predators Craft Beer Festival



Join the Nashville Predators for craft brews, food, games and entertainment. More than 60 breweries will serve up some of their finest libations. Plus, enjoy special appearances by Nashville Predators personalities. General admission includes entry into the beer festival, a souvenir glass, unlimited tastings and a voucher for an Upper Bowl ticket to a Monday - Thursday Predators pre-season or regular season home game in September or October (excludes opening night). VIP tickets include an exclusive tasting area with food and special craft beers, among other perks. Designated Driver tickets are also available. The winning brewery will have the opportunity to have their beer served at several Preds games in November. Proceeds benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation.


Open Streets Nashville



Mayor Karl Dean and Walk/Bike Nashville will host the inaugural Open Streets Nashville festival in The Gulch. The event will close one mile along Division Street and 11th Avenue South to vehicles and open the streets for walkers, cyclists and families to enjoy. Businesses in this area will expand into the street featuring activities and specials. To kick off the event, Mayor Dean will host a ribbon-cutting celebration of the 11th Avenue Complete Street, followed immediately by an Open Streets Parade for all event attendees. Plus, family-friendly booths and tents set up with games, live music and fun activities. Nashville B-cycle will offer free rides to event attendees and Nashville MTA will offer free rides to and from the event from 10 am - 3 pm.


Community Appreciation Day


SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 9 AM - 4 PM

Tennessee residents are invited to experience the all new Ryman Auditorium daytime tour experience free of charge as part of this Community Appreciation Day. Complimentary self-guided tours will be available from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday, June 28 with presentation of a valid Tennessee state ID at the Ryman box office. No reservations are necessary. The Ryman’s self-guided tour includes admission to the new state-of-the-art theater experience, "Soul of Nashville." The show puts the audience at the center of the Ryman’s fascinating history. Also, there will be live music on the expanded Ryman plaza.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 6:15 PM - 8 PM

Candace Bushnell, the author behind the column that was adapted into the bestselling "Sex and the City" series, will visit the Nashville Public Library on Tuesday, June 30. Bushnell will discuss her new book, "Killing Monica." A book signing will follow.


10,000 Scoop Challenge: Free Moose Tracks Ice Cream


TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 11 AM - 3 PM

West Michigan-based Denali Flavors, developers of Moose Tracks flavor of ice cream, has partnered with Purity Dairy to host a free ice cream giveaway. Ten thousand scoops of Moose Tracks will be given away. For each scoop eaten, Denali Flavors will donate $1 to Operation Finally Home in an effort to raise $10,000 to support its mission of providing custom-made, mortgage-free homes to local wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen.

4th of July Events

Nashville's fireworks show is going to be the largest in the country. Make plans to come downtown on Saturday, July 4 and enjoy everything the Music City July 4th Celebration has to offer. There are several options to get a great view of the fireworks.

July 4th Road Closures

Several road closures are planned throughout downtown for the Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Celebration. Some closures begin as early as Friday, June 26. All roads will re-open no later than 5 pm on Monday, July 6. This list has all of the details.

Convention Update

Large groups and events (500+ attendees) that are downtown June 24 - July 8, 2015 include the Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (4,000, June 25 - 30), Bankers Life & Casualty (475, June 28 - July 1), and Institute for CTE Educators (2,000, July 5 - 10). For information concerning conventions, call 615-259-4782. Click here for a complete listing of Nashville conventions:
