News & Information

Interstate 40 Closures This Weekend
TDOT's Fast Fix 8 begins this weekend. I-40 will be closed from the I-40/I-65 split west of downtown to the I-40 split south of downtown. Jo Johnston Avenue will be closed from 11th Avenue to 16th Avenue. Closures begin Friday. July 24 at 8 pm and end Monday, July 27 at 6 am. Detours and more info can be found on the Fast Fix 8 website.

MTA Public Meetings

 

THURSDAY, JULY 23, 11 AM - 1 PM; 4 PM - 6 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTRAL (BUS STATION) FREE

The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Middle Tennessee will hold public meetings on Thursday, July 23 regarding proposed adjustments for its biannual system changes. Adjustments are being proposed for several routes as well as a proposed fare increase. More details regarding the proposed changes will be available at the public hearings as well as online here. The public is encouraged to attend any of the hearings or submit comments to the MTA Planning Department.

 

Artists' Forum: Nashville Fashion Designers

 

THURSDAY, JULY 23, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

Inspired by the exhibit "Italian Style: Fashion since 1945," this event will feature some of Nashville’s best fashion and accessories designers in panel discussions where they share their sources, working methods and how they communicate their signature sartorial styles. Attendees are encouraged to join the dialog about the creative process. Presented by Amanda Valentine, Valentine/Valentine founder and designer and "Project Runway" finalist, and Mclaine Richardson, jewelry designer and owner of Margaret Ellis, Inc.

 

Street Food Thursdays

 

THURSDAY, JULY 23, 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. This event takes place every other Thursday through the fall.

 

Christmas in July at Bond Coffee Company

 

FRIDAY, JULY 24, 6 AM - 7 PM AND SATURDAY, JULY 25, 7 AM - 10 PM
LOCATION: BOND COFFEE COMPANY

It's Christmas in July at Bond Coffee Company. For two days only Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, enjoy all of your favorite treats and flavors including holiday lattes (gingerbread, pumpkin spice, Christmas Jones, peppermint mocha and more), mint stracciatella ice cream and snickerdoodle cookies. Plus, the scene will be set with Christmas music and decorations. After Christmas in July, these treats will be unavailable until September.

 

The Nashville Connection: Heroes Salute

 

FRIDAY, JULY 24, 10 AM - 5:30 PM
LOCATION: MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM $20 AT THE DOOR

After hosting multiple Shine Night Competitions across the Southeast, The Nashville Connection will present the singer/songwriter winners from each city in a final competition. Celebrity judges include recording artist Darryl Worley, vocal coach Dave Brooks, songwriter/producer Sam Tate, executive Stone Stafford and producer/director Roger Ryan.

 

Nashville Brew Buds Walking Tour

 

FRIDAY, JULY 24, 3:30 PM

Enjoy all that Nashville's Brewer's District has to offer on a Nashville Brew Buds walking tour. A guide will take you to Czann'sJackalope Brewing Company, Tennessee Brew Works, and Yazoo Brewing Company and Taproom, stopping at each brewery for a tour, tasting and time to relax in the taproom. The tour ends at Party Fowl, where you will receive your first pint free. Walking tours are offered on Fridays at 3:30 pm.

 

14th Annual MAFIAoZA'S Music City Brewer's Festival

 

SATURDAY, JULY 25, SESSION A: NOON - 4 PM; SESSION B: 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK $39 - $69 GENERAL ADMISSION; $75 VIP

The 14th Annual MAFIAoZA'S Music City Brewer's Festival is one of the biggest and best beer festivals in the country. It is an opportunity to sample some of the most respected brews from more than 45 local, regional, national and imported breweries. Plus, live music all day and food available for purchase. This festival has two sessions; buy tickets to one or both. VIP tickets include entry to the Friday Night Brewer Reception with food and beer pairings and early admission to the festival's first session the following day.

 

Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival

 

SATURDAY, JULY 25, 3 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK $20 EARLY BIRD; $30 AT THE GATE; $10 AGES 6-12; 5 & UNDER FREE

The Chocolate Jazz Foundation will present their inaugural Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival on Saturday, July 25. Admission includes a full day of hot smokin’ ribs and cool smooth jazz music. Artists include Tom Hemby, Denny Jiosa, Annie Sellick, Michael Whittaker and the Bottom 40, David Wells and many more.

 

Music City Triathlon

 

SUNDAY, JULY 26, REGISTRATION: 6 AM; START TIME: 7:30 AM

The 7th annual Music City Triathlon returns to Music City Sunday, July 26. Swim the Cumberland River (1.5K), bike through East Nashville on a completely closed and traffic-free Ellington Parkway (40K) and run through downtown Nashville (10K). Plus, a sprint option, an open swim option and relay options available. Or, cheer on participants as they make their way along the course. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Downtown closures include portions of 1st Avenue, 2nd Avenue, Broadway, Union Street, Woodland Street, surrounding Nissan Stadium streets and Korean Veterans Boulevard. Closures will begin as early as 6 am on Saturday, July 25 and end as late as 4 pm on Sunday, July 26. Click here for the full list of road closures with corresponding close/re-open times.

Ascend Amphitheater Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

 

THURSDAY, JULY 30, 11 AM
LOCATION: ASCEND AMPHITHEATER FREE

Join Mayor Karl Dean for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ascend Amphitheater in Riverfront Park on Thursday, July 30. Ascend Amphitheater and Riverfront Park will officially open for the first time at the conclusion of the ceremony. Plus, the public is invited to a Community Open House on Sunday, August 2 to celebrate the grand opening.
