New restaurant: Another Broken Egg Cafe!
208 Commerce Street. 615-913-3923. Another Broken Egg Cafe uses fresh ingredients and creative recipes to offer a wide variety of breakfast classics, memorable brunch dishes and lunchtime favorites. Menu offerings range from new twists on Eggs Benedict and gourmet omelettes to biscuit beignets, cinnamon roll French toast and more. Hours of operation are Monday - Sunday, 7 am - 2 pm.

Ink-N-Iron Festival

Nashville's inaugural Ink-N-Iron Festival will feature more than 60 bands, 280 tattoo artists along with seminars and contests, a car and motorcycle show, hot rod racing, a vintage fashion bazaar, vaudeville acts and much more at both Nashville Municipal Auditorium and Bicentennial Mall. Performers include Merle Haggard, Coheed and Cambria, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, and many more.

 

My Morning Jacket & Moon Taxi

Songwriters Night

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, 7 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: THE JOHNNY CASH MUSEUM FREE

The Johnny Cash Museum will debut its first Songwriters Night on Thursday, August 6. Twice every month, talented writers and musicians will play in a special presentation at the museum. The first event in the series will feature Melanie Safka, Leilah Hayman, Alissa Moreno, Richie Scholl and Jess Leary. The event is free and open to the public, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited.

 

Nashville Salutes

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7 - SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, TIMES VARY BY DATE

Nashville Salutes is a special weekend honoring 27 Medal of Honor Recipients. Downtown events include a Medal of Honor Town Hall Meeting on Friday, August 7 at First Baptist Nashville. Listen to living history as Medal of Honor recipients share their stories in person. Saturday, August 8 will include a Heroes Honoring Heroes Parade at 8:30 am. The parade will take place on Broadway, beginning at 10th Avenue and ending at 2nd Avenue. Plus, a Service & Sacrifice Street Fair on Broadway (1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue) from 8 am - 4 pm and a 50th Vietnam War Anniversary Commemoration on Broadway (2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue) at 11:30 am. The concluding event will be a gala tribute held at the Music City Center, beginning with a free red carpet event from 5 pm - 6 pm. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Broadway (3rd Avenue to 12th Avenue) will be closed beginning at 6 am and re-open as the parade passes (no later than 10:30 am) on Saturday, August 8. Broadway (1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue) will be closed from 3 am until 5 pm. 2nd Avenue (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Commerce) will be closed from 6 am until 5 pm.

 

1964 "The Tribute"

Hailed by critics and fans alike as the world’s most authentic Beatles tribute, 1964 takes audiences on a journey through a quintessential moment in music history. This one-of-a-kind concert experience re-creates an early ’60s performance by the Fab Four, with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles and onstage banter. More than 20 years of researching and performing have made 1964 masters of their craft, earning them the distinction from Rolling Stone Magazine as the best Beatles tribute on earth.

 

An Art Deco Affair

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $50 MEMBERS; $75 NON-MEMBERS

Celebrate the glamour and luxury of the Jazz Age with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music and a chance to view "Italian Style: Fashion since 1945" and "Postcards of the Wiener Werkstätte: Selections from the Leonard A. Lauder Collection." Guests are encouraged to wear black and white. All proceeds support the care of the Frist Center’s historic art deco building.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Riders in the Sky

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series is back for another season. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 6. Riders in the Sky's mix of Western music and wacky humor will kick off the series on Tuesday, August 11.

 

MTA/RTA nMotion 2015 Strategic Plan Public Meeting

The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Middle Tennessee will update the community on the latest developments in Nashville's strategic transit plan known as nMotion 2015. Curator’s Tour: Postcards of the Wiener Werkstätte

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, NOON
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

The Wiener Werkstätte (or Vienna Workshops) employed some of the most significant artists of the twentieth century with the purpose of designing everyday objects so beautiful that they would be considered works of art. Join curator Katie Delmez for a guided tour that will feature postcards and decorative arts objects by artists such as Josef Hoffmann, Mela Koehler and Egon Schiele, and learn more about Leonard Lauder and his remarkable collection.

The Metropolitan General Election for Davidson County to choose a new mayor, vice mayor and Metro Council is Thursday, August 6. Polls will be open from 7 am - 7 pm. Click here for polling locations and additional information. Be sure to vote in this important election for our city!
