Downtown Residential Report
We have released our 2015 Residential Report and the results from the 2015 downtown residential survey. Check out the stats about the downtown residential market. 64% of the people who live downtown work outside of downtown. By the end of 2015 over 8,600 residents will be living in over 5,000 housing units. However, we still have less housing stock than our peer cities and we can't keep up with demand the rental occupancy rate is 97% for the fourth year in a row.

Live on the Green: Lord Huron

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 6:15 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

The season opener for the seventh annual concert series! This series brings local and national artists to the stage in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome at this free four-week concert series. The lineup for Thursday, August 20 includes Elliot Root, Shakey Graves and Lord Huron as the headliner. $5 parking available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park, and at Nissan Stadium. Free bicycle parking. Or, take Nashville B-cycle and beat the traffic.​ Backstage tickets available for $150. Tickets include beer, wine, soft drinks, water, food and an incredible view of the stage. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to James Robertson Parkway) and Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 4th Avenue North) will be closed from 5 pm until 11 pm on Thursday, August 20.

 

​Nashville Sounds vs. Albuquerque Isotopes

The Nashville Sounds are taking on the Albuquerque Isotopes for four consecutive nights at First Tennessee Park Wednesday, August 19 through Saturday, August 22. Thursday, August 20 is Throwback Thursday. Every Thursday, the Sounds reach back into the rich baseball history at Sulphur Dell to honor the 1940 Nashville Vols as this season's Throwback Thursday uniform style. Fans can also purchase select beer and soft drinks for $2 all night. Plus, the Sounds are giving 7,000 fans the chance to celebrate the inaugural season of First Tennessee Park by claiming a t-shirt featuring the park’s founding and platinum sponsors.

Elson has walked the runways of some of Italy’s greatest houses, including Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Versace. Callaway is a creative visionary who has helped put Nashville on the map as a style mecca. Learn how the culture and style of a given city can influence high fashion in this engaging and anecdotal discussion.

 

Empire Auditions

LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK FREE

"Empire," Fox's hit music industry drama, is holding a nationwide talent search to find the show's next artist. The show’s promotional bus tour will be at Walk of Fame Park from 11 am - 7 pm on Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. Interested attendees will record an a cappella version of one of the show's songs aboard the bus. The grand prize winner will appear on the second season of "Empire."

 

Night Market: Pepper Festival

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 21 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, FRIDAY: 5 PM - 9 PM; SATURDAY & SUNDAY: 11 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Enjoy shopping, wine from the cash bar, live music, artisan booths, kids' activities and much more at this event held on the third Friday of each month. Market House restaurants and shops will be open. Vendors in the farm sheds will sell local produce, meat, cheese, plants and more. Farmers, food artisans, restaurants and merchants will feature pepper-themed dishes, items and recipes. Plus, adult beverages, live music, special contests, classes and more throughout the weekend.

 

Wine Dinner

This five-course dinner is a unique collaboration between Frothy Monkey Chef Chase Ingalls and Head Baker Jen Mello as well as The Bottle Shop and Horizon Wine and Spirits. Menu items include pan seared Georges Bank halibut, roasted NZ Red Deer with truffled cauliflower puree, brioche and blackberry summer pudding, and more. Nashville Originals' Restaurant Week

A semiannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Blood:Water co-founders, Jena Lee Nardella and Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay, will visit the Nashville Public Library to talk about Nardella's new memoir, "One Thousand Wells." Armed with a diploma, a thousand dollars and a dream to build one thousand wells in Africa, Nardella joined forces with Grammy Award-winning band Jars of Clay to found Blood:Water and begin her mission. With a fresh, intelligent and winsome voice, Nardella weaves an evocative personal narrative filled with honest and hard-won lessons that demonstrate the amazing things that can happen when you fight for your dreams.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Songwriters Session

Music City Circuit

Getting around downtown is easy! Hop a ride to the Nashville Farmers' Market for lunch or to shop, catch happy hour in The Gulch, see the newest exhibit at the Frist, attend a concert at the Ryman ... the possibilities are endless. Music City Circuit makes it easy to travel to destinations around downtown! Click here for the route maps. The best part? This service is free. NOTE: the routes for the green and blue lines changed earlier this year and now make it easier for office workers in the downtown core to use this service as there are several stops along 4th and 5th Avenues.

Blue Star Museums

Only a few weeks left - this free opportunity runs through Labor Day! The Frist Center for the Visual ArtsMusicians Hall of Fame & Museum and the Tennessee State Museum are all offering free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. More information.
