Live on the Green: Cold War Kids

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27, 6:15 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse! This seventh annual concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome at this free four-week concert series. The lineup for Thursday, August 27 is Houndmouth, J. Roddy Walston & The Business and Cold War Kids as the headliner. $5 parking available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park, and at Nissan Stadium. Free bicycle parking. Or, take Nashville B-cycle and beat the traffic (Public Square B-station will allow checkouts until 11 pm). Backstage tickets are available for $150. Tickets include beer, wine, soft drinks, water, food and an incredible view of the stage. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to James Robertson Parkway) and Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 4th Avenue North) will be closed from 5 pm until 11 pm on Thursday, August 27.

 

Street Food Thursdays

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. This event takes place every other Thursday through the fall.

 

Coach Ed Temple Statue Dedication Ceremony

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK FREE

Join Mayor Karl Dean, Coach Ed Temple and friends of the legendary track coach on Friday, August 28 to dedicate a statue honoring Temple on the greenway adjacent to First Tennessee Park. As the women’s track coach at Tennessee State University from 1953 to 1994, coach of the U.S. women’s Olympic track team in 1960 and 1964, and assistant coach in the U.S. women’s Olympic track team in 1980, Coach Temple ranks among the most impressive leaders in the history of sports both nationally and internationally and is a beloved Nashville figure. The event is free and open to the public.

 

​Frist Fridays: Those Darlins

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 6 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FRIST MEMBERS: FREE; NON-MEMBERS: $12

This year's final concert of the Frist's popular summer concert series! Attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, light snacks and beverages as well as the diverse exhibits on view in the Frist Center’s galleries. On Friday, August 28, Nashville trio Those Darlins will close out the series with their edgy, seductive sound and style. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Frist Fridays take place rain or shine.

Nashville Industry Music Awards 2015

SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2 PM - 5 PM
LOCATION: 3RD AND LINDSLEY $20 IN ADVANCE; $30 DAY OF SHOW

The ninth annual Nashville Industry Music Awards will be a day to remember when some of the top individuals in Nashville’s music scene come together to celebrate and honor their peers. Artists and fans from many genres will be in attendance for this "dress to impress" event at 3rd & Lindsley.

 

Franklin Farriers vs. Nashville Maroons: Vintage Base Ball

SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, NOON
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

This match of vintage base ball (it was two words in the 1860s) has been organized by the Tennessee Association of Vintage Base Ball. Players will use the rules, equipment, costumes and culture of the 1860s – 1880s. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are welcome at this event.

 

Into The Great Wide Open: An Evening of Tom Petty Music

MONDAY, AUGUST 31, 8 PM - 10 PM

Into The Great Wide Open: An Evening of Tom Petty Music will benefit the Musicians Corner fall season. Performers include Drew Holcomb, The Secret Sisters, Matthew Perryman Jones, Leigh Nash, Emily West, Jon McLaughlin, Kris Allen, Jason Eskridge and many more.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Sara Sant'Ambrogio

Davidson Street Multi-Use Path Ribbon Cutting & Bike Ride

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 11:30 AM
LOCATION: JOHN SEIGENTHALER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE FREE

Mayor Karl Dean, Metro Public Works and the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee invite you to the ribbon cutting of the Davidson Street multi-use path and celebration of Nashville's bike/ped enhancements. A brief program will be followed by a round-trip bike trip to Shelby Park. Bring your bike and helmet. Nashville B-cycle will also be available. Meet at the east entrance of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (near Nissan Stadium's Lot R).
