Road Closures: 505

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17 - WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23

505 is under construction at the southwest corner of Church Street and 5th Avenue North. Initial construction-related work will include erection of a tower crane. 5th Avenue North from Commerce to Church will be closed from 10 pm on Thursday, December 17 until 2 am on Friday, December 18. Plus, 5th Avenue North from Commerce to Union and Church Street from 4th Avenue North to 6th Avenue North will be closed from 10 pm on Sunday, December 20 until midnight on Wednesday, December 23.

Riffs on the Rails Holiday Edition

 

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: UNION STATION HOTEL FREE

It's the most wonderful time of the year as Union Station Hotel presents the December Riffs on the Rails Songwriter Session on Thursday, December 17. This special holiday edition will feature carols from the Vanderbilt Community Chorus, then music and commentary from local songwriters Kathryn Anderson, Holly Norman, Ernie Rowell and Steven Whitson. Get up close and personal with these talented performers in the hotel lobby while enjoying holiday treats and selections.

 

Sips & Stanzas: Music That Made an Impact

Curator’s Tour: Ink, Silk and Gold

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

Through illuminated Qur’ans, brocaded velvets, gilded glass, luster-painted ceramics, monumental carpets, silver inlaid metalwork and more, "Ink, Silk and Gold" takes you on an enchanting journey through the history of Islamic art from the eighth century to today. Join curator Trinita Kennedy for an introduction to the dazzling beauty and diversity of Islamic art. The tour will also explore the physical aspects of the objects: color, materials, shape and technique.

 

Night Market

 

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Enjoy shopping, live music, artisan booths, kids' activities and much more at the final Night Market of the year. Market House restaurants and shops will be open. Vendors in the farm sheds will sell local produce, meat, cheese, plants and more. Sing Christmas carols, enjoy festive adult cocktails and visit with Ol' Saint Nick. December's signature cocktail will be a chocolate peppermint martini. Plus, local beers and Arrington Vineyard wines will be onsite.

 

‚Äč35th Annual Rudolph's Red Nose Run

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 10 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM $40

Be a part of one of Nashville's favorite holiday traditions. Approximately 2,000 people will dress in their best holiday costumes and make their way along this 5K course. Holiday-themed goodies and snacks will be provided after the race. Start and finish line near the south end zone of Nissan Stadium Please note: road closures associated with this event. Closures include the Woodland Street Bridge, Union Street (1st Avenue North to 2nd Avenue North), 2nd Avenue North (Union Street to Broadway), Broadway (2nd Avenue to 8th Avenue), 3rd Avenue South (Broadway to Demonbreun), Demonbreun (3rd Avenue South to 1st Avenue South), the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge and surrounding Nissan Stadium streets. Click here for the complete route. Closures begin as early as 8 am and end as late as noon on Saturday, December 19.

 

Black Tie Affair

Refuge International Corporation is hosting their annual Christmas fundraising event to benefit Refuge House. Black Tie Affair is an evening of fun and entertainment for all who love good cigars, good food and good drinks all the while raising money for Refuge House operations in the United States, Honduras, Congo and India, as well family counseling and drug treatment in Middle Tennessee. Holiday Sing-Along with the Nashville Symphony

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 11 AM

This holiday-themed concert for listeners of all ages promises plenty of good cheer that will get your entire family in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy stirring renditions of “Silent Night” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,” featuring the Nashville School of the Arts Madrigal Singers, and sing along to holiday favorites like “Deck the Halls” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” all performed by the Nashville Symphony in the magical setting of Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Starting at 10 am, arrive early and enjoy free, family-friendly pre-concert activities, including crafts, a story nook and an interactive Instrument Petting Zoo!

 

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 8 PM
LOCATION: WILDHORSE SALOON $15 GENERAL ADMISSION; $25 VIP

107.5 The River presents its inaugural Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with A Great Big World, Jo Jo and Coleman Hell. Enjoy music, games and the crowning of Nashville’s Ugly Sweater King and Queen. Doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. General admission tickets are $15 and seating is first come, first served. VIP reserved tickets with meet and greet are $25.

A Johnnyswim Christmas

Johnnyswim naturally combines elements of rock, blues, boleros, folk and contemporary R&B in their music. The husband-wife duo has been gaining national attention at venues and festivals across the country leaving audiences spellbound. In 2014, they released their first full-length record "Diamonds," which charted No. 1 on the singer/songwriter chart for weeks. Holiday Concert: Bicinium

Recorder duo Bicinium, playing recorders ranging from the sopranino to the great bass, will perform a holiday concert in the Courtyard Gallery. Their performance will include a wide variety of classical and contemporary Christmas songs, including "The Holly and the Ivy" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

 

Drew & Ellie Holcomb's Neighborly Christmas

 

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 7:30 PM

Husband and wife Drew and Ellie Holcomb and their band The Neighbors bring their annual Christmas concert to the Schermerhorn for the first time.
