News & Information

New restaurant: Cherry Street Eatery and Sweetery!
Fifth Third Center. 424 Church Street, #210 (2nd floor). 615-305-8192. This is the second downtown location of this restaurant. The other location is located at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Menu options include sandwiches, salads and soups. Please note that this new location is take out only. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.

New bar and restaurant: Craft Bar & Bistro!
711 Union Street. 615-242-4311. This new bar and restaurant is located next door to The Capitol Hotel. Open for dinner and drinks. Hours of operation are Monday - Sunday, 4 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 4 pm - 11 pm. 

New restaurant: Otaku Ramen!
1104 Division Street. 615-942-8281. This new restaurant is located on the ground level of Icon in The Gulch. Menu options include ramen, rice bowls, gyoza, and more. Also, they have added a whiskey bar, Inryo. The ramen shop is open Tuesday - Thursday and Sunday: 11 am - 2:30 pm, 5 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 11 am - 2:30 pm, 5 pm - midnight. The whiskey bar is open Tuesday - Thursday and Sunday, 5 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 5 pm - midnight.

Tennessee’s premier boat and sportshow will take place for four days of winter relief in Nashville Thursday, January 7 - Sunday, January 10. Celebrate the Nashville Boat and Sportshow’s 30th anniversary with the return of popular features, the best boating and accessory deals of the season and unique attractions to entertain visitors of all ages.

 

Mozart's Requiem

A must-see for any music lover, Mozart’s final masterpiece is a profoundly moving work, brimming with drama, hopefulness and redemption. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear the full Nashville Symphony and Chorus perform it live at the Schermerhorn. Nashville Symphony principal oboist James Button and principal clarinetist James Zimmermann will take the spotlight on two exciting new American works—Jennifer Higdon’s "Oboe Concerto" and Frank Ticheli’s "Clarinet Concerto"—both to be recorded for forthcoming release on Naxos.

 

It's Who You Know

Americans are enamored with the lives of celebrities. We watch them on TV, read about them in tabloids and follow them on social media. What we don’t see is what happens in their day to day lives away from the spotlight. America’s Storyteller Chambers Stevens provides audiences with a rare first-person journey through the “Human Side of Celebrity” in his touring one-man show. Stevens, a veteran actor, renowned acting coach and playwright, reveals his own lighthearted, sometimes hilarious, personal encounters with some of Tinsel Town’s biggest and most powerful star power during his 25 years as a Hollywood insider.

 

Sushi and Shanghai

Start off the new year with some fun in an evening of eating, drinking and creating art. A chef will guide you through the process of making your own sushi roll, customized with your choice of fillings. Then, enjoy it while you create an artful painting with an instructor who will guide you step by step through the brush techniques, color choices and process of making your very own painting to take home with you.

 

Opry at the Ryman

FRIDAY, JANUARY 8 - SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 7 PM
LOCATION: RYMAN AUDITORIUM $48 - $60

Enjoy a special performance when The Grand Ole Opry is presented at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Unlike a typical concert, the Opry presents eight or more artists at each show giving the audience a sample of each artist's musical style. Friday, January 8 will feature Cam, Del McCoury Band, Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers, The Grascals, Mo Pitney, LOCASH and more. Saturday, January 9 will feature Montgomery Gentry, Del McCoury Band, Terri Clark, Darryl Worley, Holly Williams, Dylan Scott and more.

 

Monster Jam

SATURDAY, JANUARY 9 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 10; SATURDAY: 2 PM & 7:30 PM; SUNDAY: 2 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $25 - $60

Monster Jam starring the biggest performers on four wheels: Monster Jam trucks! The 12-feet-tall, 10,000-pound machines will bring you to your feet, racing and ripping up a custom-designed track full of obstacles to soar over—or smash through. These colorful, larger-than-life beasts are sure to capture the hearts of both young and old.

 

Food for Fines

SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 9 AM - 5 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Patrons can help feed the hungry while eliminating overdue fines. The library forgives $1 in fines for each can/package as follows: peanut butter, canned chicken or tuna, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soups, cereal and pasta. Bring items in boxes, plastic bags or jars (no glass) to the circulation desk. Don't forget to bring your library card! All donations go to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Food for Fines kicks off on Saturday, January 9 and runs through Sunday, January 17.

 

Palmaz Wine Dinner

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CITY WINERY $125

Enjoy a four-course dinner with a collection of wine pairings from the coveted Palmaz Vineyards of Napa Valley. Palmaz representative Shawn Lutwak will discuss the intricacies of the estate, state of the art winemaking technology, and meticulous care that goes into making such an elegantly structured and beautifully flavored wine.
