Cirque de la Symphonie

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14 - SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, THURSDAY: 7 PM; FRIDAY & SATURDAY: 8 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $34 - $128

Experience the amazing Cirque de la Symphonie when some of the world’s greatest performers team with the Nashville Symphony to deliver a concert unlike any other. Prepare to be awed as these extraordinary artists perform dazzling and delightful feats on—and above—the stage of Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Featuring contortionists, aerial flyers, strongmen, balancers, acrobats, dancers, jugglers and more.

 

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 11 AM - 2 PM

Street Food Thursdays are back! Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North. This event takes place every other Thursday. NOTE: If the high is not above 40 degrees on the day of the event (January through March), the event will be canceled.

 

Movie Night at Bridgestone Winter Park

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 5 PM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK FREE

Enjoy a screening of "Miracle" on the big screen at the IntelliCentrics Ice Rink at Bridgestone Winter Park! S’mores pits and hockey interactive activities will begin at 5 pm, and the movie screening will start at 6 pm. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the film. Concessions will be available and the ice rink will be open for skating ($15 for adults, $10 for children). Free parking is available at Nissan Stadium in Lot R.

 

Night Market

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Night Market is continuing into the winter months by popular demand! Enjoy shopping, live jazz music, seasonal drinks, local artisan booths and much more. Market House restaurants and shops will be open. Note: the Farm and Craft sheds will be closed during the event due to winter weather.

 

Harlem Globetrotters

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 7 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $24.85 - $133

Celebrating 90 years of providing smiles and sportsmanship to millions of people worldwide, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will bring their unrivaled family show to Bridgestone Arena on Friday, January 15 during their 2016 World Tour. The event will feature some of the greatest athletes and entertainers on the planet, including incredible ball handling wizardry, rim-rattling dunks, trick shots, hilarious comedy and unequaled fan interaction. After the game, Globetrotter stars will sign autographs and take photos with fans.

 

Connecting Disciplines: Phantom Bodies: The Human Aura in Art

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY ADMISSION REQUIRED

In conjunction with "Phantom Bodies: The Human Aura in Art," the Frist Center presents Connecting Disciplines, in-gallery conversations that explore key exhibit themes. "Phantom Bodies" features contemporary artists exploring the absent or transformed body and how this often connects to emotion and to universal experiences. Join Dr. Lutz Koepnick, Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of German, Cinema and Media Arts at Vanderbilt University, and Chief Curator Scala as they discuss the role of media and technology in both capturing and producing aura.

 

First Responders Night at Bridgestone Winter Park

FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK

Come hang out with the Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Police Department and Nashville Crime Stoppers at the IntelliCentrics Ice Rink at Bridgestone Winter Park! The Nashville Fire Department will play three vs. three hockey matches in between public skate sessions. S’mores pits and hockey interactive activities will be available. Concessions will be on-site for purchase. All first responders can skate for the kids' price of $10 (normally $15).

 

High Stakes for Harmony

SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, POKER TOURNAMENT: 4 PM; COCKTAIL PARTY: 5 PM - 7:30 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $75 POKER TOURNAMENT; $35 COCKTAIL PARTY

The Crescendo Club presents its second annual poker tournament. Enjoy plenty of card-playing, high-stakes betting and a silent auction. There will also be blackjack tables for those not inclined toward poker. The tournament begins at 4 pm and tickets include four drink tickets and buy-in. Stick around for a cocktail party from 5 pm - 7:30 pm. Admission includes two drink tickets. Proceeds will help underwrite the cost of the Nashville Symphony’s Composer Lab program.

 

Nashville Pink Bridal Show

SUNDAY, JANUARY 17, 11 AM - 4 PM

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts is offering free admission in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 18. Create your own art masterpieces in the Martin ArtQuest Gallery and check out its current exhibits including "Phantom Bodies: The Human Aura in Art" and "Anthology: Visual Narratives from Nashville's Print Community."

 

Nashville Originals' Restaurant Week

MONDAY, JANUARY 18 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 24

A semiannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Young Professionals Networking Event

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and YP Nashville invite you to mix, mingle and network with other young professionals at its annual Young Professionals Networking Event. Join them at B.B. Nashville B-cycle

New year, new you! Purchase an annual membership and use B-cycle to achieve your health goals. Annual memberships are only $50 - much cheaper than a gym membership. Over 230 bright red bikes are located at 31 convenient B-stations around town. Nashville B-cycle is priced for quick rides. After joining, you can take an unlimited number of rides during your membership period with no additional charge for the first hour of any ride. Usage fees apply for all rides that exceed one hour. Nashville B-cycle: bikes you love and leave!

Large groups and events (500+ attendees) that are downtown January 13 - 27, 2016 include American Fence Association (4,000, January 12 - 15), Nashville Pink Bridal Show (4,000, January 16 - 17), New Hope Foundation (1,500, January 18), and One Up Cheer Championships (1,000, January 23).
