New restaurant: Taziki's Mediterrean Cafe!
Gulch Crossing. 230 11th Ave S. 615-203-0346. This Mediterranean-influenced fast-casual restaurant is located in The Gulch and is open for lunch and dinner. Click here to check out the menu. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 11 am - 9 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 11 am - 8 pm.

Opry Country Classics

An exciting celebration of the songs that made Music City, Opry Country Classics features a celebrity host sharing great stories and songs, several guests singing their own hits and a spotlight artist headlining the show. This performance will feature The Gatlin Brothers, Mo Pitney, Ashley Campbell, Riders in the Sky and spotlight artist Lee Greenwood. Hosted by Larry Gatlin.

 

53rd Annual State of Metro Address by Mayor Megan Barry

 

FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK AND ASCEND AMPHITHEATER FREE

Mayor Megan Barry will give the 53rd Annual State of Metro Address at Ascend Amphitheater on Friday, April 29 at 11:30 am. The State of Metro Address will include important details about the Mayor’s budget proposal, which will be presented to the Metro Council following the event. In addition to remarks from Mayor Barry, the event will include performances by Metro high school marching bands, the city’s youth poet laureate and a special musical guest. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. For counting purposes only, attendees can RSVP here. Local food trucks will be on hand outside of Ascend for attendees wishing to purchase lunch.

 

Beethoven's Emperor with Garrick Ohlsson

Beethoven’s final piano concerto, the grand “Emperor,” is a work of stunning drama and beauty, with music of such brilliance that it could only be performed by the legendary pianist Garrick Ohlsson. A bold and impassioned cry against tyranny, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11 captures a pivotal moment in the life of the Russian people, as peasants and workers attempted to topple that country’s brutal regime. The breathtaking result remains as powerful today as when it was first performed more than a half-century ago. Plus, join a free classical conversation one hour before the concert and a Q&A after the show to learn more about the music you’ll hear onstage.

 

Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 7:15 AM

The St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon (formerly St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon) runs through Nashville on Saturday, April 30 beginning at 8th Avenue and Broadway and ending at Nissan Stadium. Featuring live music at every mile and a fantastic finish line festival to be capped off by a post-race concert featuring The Wallflowers and Marc Scibilia at Bridgestone Arena at 7 pm (free for race participants or $35). Find a spot downtown to cheer on the runners! Or, sign up for the 3.1-mile mini marathon. Plus, the Health and Fitness Expo at Music City Center Thursday, April 28 - Friday, April 29 and the Kids Rock Run ($30) at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, May 1 at 2 pm. Toyota Rock 'n' Roll Headliner Concert with The Wallflowers

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 7 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $35

On Saturday, April 30, the annual Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series Headliner Concert will stop by Bridgestone Arena for one night only featuring The Wallflowers. This concert is free for Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon participants or $35.

 

Listen To Your Mother

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 7 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $25

Listen To Your Mother is a national series of live readings created to take the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering through giving a local voice to motherhood -- in all of its complexity, diversity and humor -- in the form of original readings performed live on-stage by their authors. The Nashville production will donate a minimum of 10% of ticket sales to Safe Haven Family Shelter.

 

Speaking with Ancestors

 

SUNDAY, MAY 1, 2 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

The Tennessee State Museum will host a special presentation, “Speaking with the Ancestors,” and tour about the exhibit, "Ancestors: Ancient Native American Sculptures of Tennessee," on Sunday, May 1 with Dr. Kevin E. Smith, a Middle Tennessee State University professor of anthropology. Dr. Smith will offer an analysis of this groundbreaking exhibit and explore its extraordinary significance. He will address what was discovered as a result of the research conducted during the exhibit. He will also speak about what new and ongoing research questions have been raised as a result of the exhibit.

 

Hops & Heat

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 4, 6 PM
LOCATION: PARTY FOWL $60

Join Yazoo Brewing Company and Taproom and Party Fowl as they team up for the Hops and Heat dinner. Party Fowl’s Master Chef will provide five courses, each course increasing in heat level. Yazoo will provide five beers to accompany each heat level. Please be advised: this dinner is not for the faint of heart. A vegetarian option is available.

 

National Day of Prayer

 

THURSDAY, MAY 5, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Operation Andrew Group and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee invite you to join in the observance of the 65th annual National Day of Prayer. This mid-day event will bring cultures and denominations throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee together for a day of transforming prayer events, and give you an opportunity to pray at the close of the gathering. This event takes place on the plaza at Bridgestone Arena. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunches.

 

Road Closures
 

Road Closure: American Bar Association Street Party

THURSDAY, APRIL 28, 6 PM - 9 PM

5th Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun) will be closed from 6 pm until 9 pm on Thursday, April 28 due to the American Bar Association Street Party (private event). Estimated attendance is 500.

 

Road Closures: Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon & 1/2 Marathon
