New liquor store: Downtown Nashville Wine and Spirits
178 2nd Avenue N. 615-474-5488. This new liquor store offers wine, beer, liquor and more. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 11 pm.

 

New juice bar: The Urban Juicer
21 Arcade. 1-855-90JUICE. The third location of this local juice bar. Menu items include juices, smoothies, salads and wraps. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7 am - 6 pm and Saturday, 8 am - 5:30 pm.

String City: Nashville's Tradition of Music & Puppetry

THURSDAY, JUNE 16 & FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

​Marionettes, rod puppetry, shadow animation and an ever-changing set are used to tell country music history as it relates to Nashville’s transformation into Music City. Experience this exciting true story through more than 50 puppets, ranging from the Staple Singers to Johnny Cash to Taylor Swift. This performance expands the original 2013 production with new music and puppets. String City was created by Wishing Chair Productions, the resident puppet theater company at Nashville Public Library, in collaboration with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This free performance launches the International Puppet Festival.

 

Street Food Thursdays

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday throughout the months of May and June!

 

International Puppet Festival

FRIDAY, JUNE 17 - SUNDAY, JUNE 19, SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

This festival features 50 performances by 14 puppet troupes (from six countries around the world), jugglers and puppetry workshops. The Puppet Parade begins at 9 am in front of the Main Library on Saturday, June 18 and will include live music, puppets, puppeteers, a float and more. The schedule of shows provides a variety of entertainment for every age. Tickets are free, but limited. For guaranteed seating, attendees may reserve tickets in advance online or by phone for $2.50 per ticket. Relax in the library's courtyard and enjoy a European Street Festival with unicyclists, jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters and balloon artists. Food trucks will also be on-site for lunch on Capitol Boulevard, next to Church Street Park. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Church Street will be closed from 6th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North from 6 am until 6 pm each day Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19. Capitol Boulevard will be closed beginning Thursday, June 16 at 4 pm and will remain closed throughout the event until 6 pm on Sunday, June 19. Parade closures on Saturday, June 18 include War Memorial Plaza, Union Street, Capitol Boulevard, Church Street and 6th Avenue North from 9 am until 9:30 am.

 

Peach Jam

FRIDAY, JUNE 17 - SATURDAY, JUNE 18, FRIDAY: 5 PM - 8 PM; SATURDAY: 10 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Two days of special events celebrating peak season for peaches! The weekend will kick off with Night Market on Friday, June 17. Peach Jam will continue on Saturday, June 18 as local and regional farmers bring hundreds of bushel boxes of their best fresh farm peaches to Nashville Farmers' Market. Peach Jam will also include live music, a peachy pastry baking contest, live chef demonstrations, local food trucks, freshly baked pies and cobblers for purchase, kids' activities and much more.

 

Art After Dark: Inka Essenhigh: Between Worlds

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS MUSEUM ADMISSION REQUIRED

Enrich your Friday nights. Join in an open-ended discussion in the galleries to heighten your appreciation and understanding of the visual arts by exploring in depth one work of art from "Inka Essenhigh: Between Worlds" with an educator. The chosen object changes every session, making each Art After Dark a new experience. Space is limited to 15 participants to encourage interaction. Reservations recommended, but not required. Bridging the Gap Mixer

The Bridging the Gap Mixer is the highly anticipated kickoff to the 16th Annual Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival! This one-of-a-kind event brings together artists, entertainment and vendors for a night full of great musical performances from Nashville's hottest artists covering jazz, R&B and blues music. Plus, a large selection of food, cocktails and merchandise. Please note: tickets purchased the day of the event will only be available at the gate and may increase in price.

 

Thunder on the Cumberland

SATURDAY, JUNE 18 - SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 11:30 AM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE

The iconic Toyota Thunder on the Cumberland F1 Series Powerboat Championship features some of the fastest boats in the world carving a three-mile loop on the Cumberland River. A new tradition for Nashville, this two-day festival features the summer's best: live music, ice cold beer, food trucks and family fun. Please note: road closure associated with this event. 1st Avenue at Riverfront Park will be closed beginning at 7 am on Saturday, June 18 until 6 pm on Sunday, June 19.

 

Nissan Taste of Music City Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE $59 IN ADVANCE; $69 DAY OF EVENT (IF AVAILABLE)

Nashville's largest food and drink festival is celebrating 14 years! Enjoy food, wine and beer with a focus on local flavors. Attendees also have the opportunity to watch and learn from some of the best chefs in Nashville as they cook on-site and provide demonstrations. Plus, live music on the main stage. Tickets include all food and beverages. Please note: road closure associated with this event. 3rd Avenue North by Public Square will be closed from 9 am until the conclusion of the event on Saturday, June 18.

 

​16th Annual Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL $10 - $30

The 16th Annual Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival is a daylong event that showcases national and local jazz and blues musicians as well as celebrates the musical heritage of Jefferson Street. Performers include Latimore, Lakeside Band, Midnight Star and many more. The musical event features multiple stages set throughout the Bicentennial Mall filled with vendors, food trucks, a customized Children’s Pavilion and much more. Plus, kick off the festival by attending the Bridging the Gap Mixer on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on Friday, June 17.

 

Monster Jam

Monster Jam stars the biggest performers on four wheels: Monster Jam trucks! The 12-feet-tall, 10,000-pound machines will bring you to your feet, racing and ripping up a custom-designed track full of obstacles to soar over—or smash through. These colorful, larger-than-life beasts are sure to capture the hearts of both young and old.

 

Make Music Nashville

TUESDAY, JUNE 21

Make Music Nashville is an all-day, open-access, free festival taking place in various neighborhoods in Nashville on Tuesday, June 21. Participation is encouraged from all ages, music genres and abilities. Make Music Nashville is as a part of an international event with its heart and soul in the local community. With more than 50 performers signed up for concerts at 15 distinct venues, Make Music Nashville’s 2016 celebration will feature hundreds of performances across the city. Participating downtown locations include the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Two Old HippiesClick here to learn more.

 

River on the Rooftop

TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 3 PM
LOCATION: HARD ROCK CAFE FREE

Radio station 107.5 the River is hosting River on the Rooftop, a free four-part summer concert series at the second-story outdoor patio of the Hard Rock Cafe. The first River on the Rooftop event will take place Tuesday, June 21 featuring live performances by DNCE (before they open for Selena Gomez at Bridgestone Arena at 7:30 pm) and "American Idol" winner Nick Fradiani. Future dates and artists will be announced soon. River on the Rooftop attendees can catch the free concert from the sidewalks along Broadway between 1st and 2nd Avenue.

5th Avenue (Demonbreun Street to Broadway) by Walk of Fame Park will be closed on Friday, June 17 from midnight to 11 pm due to the National Association of Federal Credit Union Block Party (private event). Estimated attendance is 1,000.
