New restaurant: Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse
UBS Tower. 300 4th Avenue N. 615-434-4300. This new steakhouse serves award-winning U.S.D.A. prime steaks along with seafood and sushi. Live music nightly. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday, 5 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 5 pm - 11 pm. The bar opens at 4 pm, Monday - Saturday.

 

 

New boutique: Urban Artsy!
234 4th Avenue N. 629-702-3910. This new boutique sells women's and men's apparel as well as shoes, jewelry and accessories. Styles are modern and the clothing is affordable. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 10 am - 6 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 10 am - 5 pm.

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.

 

Blended Burger Competition

THURSDAY, JULY 14, 6 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: CITY WINERY $15

City Winery and Chauhan Ale & Masala House want Nashville’s help to determine who has the better blended burger during the Blended Burger Competition at City Winery on Thursday, July 14. The event will feature City Winery Executive Chef Garrett Pittler and Chauhan Ale & Masala House Corporate Chef Aatul Jain as they face off in a burger competition to promote the Blended Burger Project, an initiative presented by the James Beard Foundation and Mushroom Council that encourages chefs across the nation to create a delicious burger using a meat and mushroom blend to promote health and sustainability in our food system. A portion of the ticket sales will also benefit March of Dimes. The competition will include live cooking demonstrations, burger tastings, a Q&A with the chefs and more.

 

Night Market

Relax and unwind at Night Market! Enjoy live jazz, seasonal cocktails, wine, craft beer, local artisan booths, plenty of dinner options from Market restaurants and more. Plus, food trucks and other vendors will be outside under the Farm Sheds. Enjoy all the inside fun, and dine and shop under the stars too.

 

The Truth Booth

FRIDAY, JULY 15 - SATURDAY, JULY 16, NOON - 6 PM

Come tell your truths! The Truth Booth—a giant, inflatable speech bubble and video recording booth touring the world in search of the truth—is coming to Nashville Public Library! You're invited to step inside the bubble and record a two-minute video completing the statement, “The truth is..." Nashville Public Library is the first public library and the first location in the Southern U.S. to host the Truth Booth, which has visited Afghanistan, South Africa and beyond. No appointment necessary; drop by anytime from noon - 6 pm on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16.

 

Community Farm Day 2016

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 10 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Join Nashville Farmers' Market as they celebrate the bounty of summer produce and its local and regional farmers at the second annual Community Farm Day! Visit the Market at the height of peak growing season, and meet the farmers who produced it all. The event will feature more than 40 farmers, contests, live bluegrass music, cooking demonstrations, a local meat cookout, a free tomato tasting table, a musical petting zoo for kids, 20+ local artisans and much more.

 

Hawaiian-Filipino Pop-Up Dinner

Dabble Studio is hosting a special pop-up dinner with guest chef Sophia Agtarap of Ate's Nashville on Saturday, July 16! After a sellout event in April, Dabble and Ate's are teaming up once again for a one-night only special event. Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival

The Chocolate Jazz Foundation will present the second annual Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival on Saturday, July 16. Admission includes a full day of hot smokin’ ribs and cool smooth jazz music. Artists include two-time Grammy winner Paul Brown, Eric Essix, The Council, Denny Jiosa featuring David Wells (founder of Nashville Rib & Jazz Festival and the Chocolate Jazz Foundation) and El Movimiento.

 

Big Guitar Brewfest

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 1 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK $50 GENERAL ADMISSION

The party in the outfield at First Tennessee Park happens only at the Big Guitar Brewfest on Saturday, July 16! The event will feature more than 50 local and craft breweries and four liquor sampling tents. General admission tickets include unlimited beer and liquor samples, a souvenir mason jar mug and access to the game area in The Band Box during the event. VIP ($75) and designated driver ($25) tickets are also available.

 

The Science of Sport with Mr. Bond & Company

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Mr. Bond and the Science Guys are a team of “edutainers” (educators and entertainers) whose mission it is to get kids excited about science. The spectacular experiments in this year's show are inspired by sports. Do experiments with hand-eye coordination, lung capacity, Bernoulli's Principle and aerodynamics. See balancing miracles, learn about the sweet spot on rackets and much more.

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

SUNDAY, JULY 17, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy Jazz on the Cumberland in the park's amphitheater! Sunday, July 17 will feature the Dara Tucker Band. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Jazz on the Cumberland continues monthly through October.

 

Community Meeting: Nashville Public Library's Facilities Master Plan

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, NOON - 1:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

Nashvillians are invited to weigh in on the future and growth of their library system at Nashville Public Library (NPL) on Wednesday, July 20. To keep pace with Nashville’s booming population growth and growing diversity, NPL has designed the NPL Facilities Master Plan, a strategy for building and maintaining world-class library facilities across Davidson County through the year 2040. The Master Plan will be presented at this meeting, where guests are encouraged to learn more about the plan, ask questions and share insights. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to read about the plan and give their feedback online here.

 

Wine on the Roof

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, 5:30 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: WATERMARK $50 PER EVENT; $200 FOR ENTIRE SERIES

Watermark is bringing the world’s finest wines to the Gulch with its new event, Wine on the Roof! Hosted on the third Wednesday of the month through September, each event offers a tantalizing mix of wines and flavors. With four to five different wines representing a different country/region, you’ll get a rich offering of tastes. Plus, light appetizers will be provided. Tickets are available for $50 per person. Or, buy a ticket to all of the events for $200 (a $50 savings). Downtown Grocery Stores

Downtown Nashville has two grocery stores! H.G. Hill Urban Market (415 Church Street) features produce, a selection of meats, bakery items, groceries, prepared food and more. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 9 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 8 am - 9 pm. The Turnip Truck Urban Fare (321 12th Avenue S.) offers organic produce, fresh meats, prepared foods and additional groceries. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 7:30 am - 9 pm and Sunday, 9 am - 8 pm.
