The Secrets of Sushi

There’s a lot to learn about the world of sushi. In Japan, the best sushi chefs train for two years just to create sushi rice. Learn the basics of sushi etiquette, rolling and eating! This class will feature three varieties of sushi: California crab, avocado and Japanese mushroom.

 

Street Food Thursdays

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.

 

Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman: The SteelDrivers

The inaugural Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman series took place in 1994 at the then newly renovated Ryman Auditorium. Over the last 20 plus years, the series has become a Nashville summertime tradition as it regularly presents the biggest names in bluegrass on the very stage where the genre was born back in 1945. The 23rd annual series continues on Thursday, July 21 with The SteelDrivers and Della Mae. A limited number of tickets to this show remain.

 

Who Knew

Popular networking and speaker series, Who Knew, returns with a lineup of insightful and successful entertainment industry executives on Thursday, July 21 at 3rd and Lindsley. The industry-leading speakers represent a diverse range of successful companies and organizations, including the Country Music Association, Pilgrimage Music Festival, Americana Music Association and iV Audio Branding. They will share their professional stories, hard-earned wisdom and valuable insights regarding what it takes to be in charge in Nashville’s most important industry. Plus, the Who Knew after-party will kick off at 8:30 pm with Caroline Glaser and The Nick Moss Band.

 

Tales at Twilight

 

FRIDAY, JULY 22, 7 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Tales at Twilight is a performance series for children held on Friday evenings in July at Cumberland Park. Kids will be thoroughly entertained while the parents can relax and enjoy one of the best views of downtown Nashville. Friday, July 22 will feature the Nashville Public Library's Puppet Truck.

Lloyd Branson: An Introduction to a Leading Tennessee Artist of the Late 19th/Early 20th Century

LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM STORE FREE

Join Adam Alfrey from the East Tennessee History Center, who organized the exhibit "Celebrating a Life in Tennessee Art: Lloyd Branson, 1853 – 1925" on the fascinating research he did on one of the most influential figures in early Tennessee art circles. The talk will highlight Branson’s skill as well as his love for his home state’s natural beauty. It will also explore Branson’s role as a mentor and teacher to fellow artists, including Catherine Wiley and Beauford Delaney.

 

Music City Triathlon

 

SUNDAY, JULY 24, 7:30 AM

The 8th annual Music City Triathlon returns on Sunday, July 24. Swim the Cumberland River (1.5K), bike through East Nashville on a completely closed and traffic-free Ellington Parkway (45K) and run beginning at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge and traveling into East Nashville (10K). Plus, sprint, open swim and relay options available. Or, cheer on participants as they make their way along the course. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Downtown closures include surrounding Nissan Stadium streets, with the remainder impacting east of downtown. Closures will begin as early as 5 am and end as late as 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 24. Click here to view a set of maps with the timeline.

 

Acme Unplugged

 

MONDAY, JULY 25, 7 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: ACME FEED & SEED $10

Join Acme Feed & Seed for this month’s edition of Acme Unplugged, featuring legendary songwriter Steve Cropper and friends. Cropper and friends will perform in The Hatchery, singing their iconic songs and sharing the epic stories behind them.

 

Hits from the Hall featuring Tom Douglas, Richard Leigh & Shane Minor

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27, 7 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: CITY WINERY $20 - $30

Hits from the Hall is a fundraiser benefiting the nonprofit Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, which honors Nashville’s rich legacy of songwriting excellence through preservation, celebration and education. The show combines Hall of Fame members with other great writers for an evening of classic songs and the stories behind them. The event on Wednesday, July 27 will feature Tom Douglas, Richard Leigh and Shane Minor.

 

Road Closures
 

Road Closure: Church of God International General Assembly

THURSDAY, JULY 21, 7 PM - 10 PM

5th Avenue South (Music City Center to Omni Nashville Hotel) will be closed on Thursday, July 21 from 7 pm to 10 pm due to the Church of God International General Assembly (private event). Estimated attendance is 10,000.

 

Road Closures: Beachbody Coach Summit

 

THURSDAY, JULY 28 - SATURDAY, JULY 30, VARIOUS TIMES

Several road closures are planned throughout downtown for the Beachbody Coach Summit (taking place Thursday, July 28 - Sunday, July 31). Events are not open to the public, but take place at downtown locations including Music City CenterBridgestone Arena, Walk of Fame Park and Lower Broadway. Expected attendance for events is as many as 24,000 people.
 

Roads and parks begin closing as early as 8 am on Thursday, July 28 and will re-open no later than noon on Saturday, July 30. This list is organized by the date the closures begin. The end date is different for each road and is indicated below. Most parks and roads are closed for multiple days.
 

Wednesday, July 27:

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, let us know! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items. Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager. Please note: these services are only available in the CBID and the GBID (maps of these areas are provided on the form page).

Cheap Parking Options

Park for only $5 weeknights after 6 pm and all day Saturday or Sunday at the Metro Courthouse Garage. Or, pay only $8 after 5 pm on weeknights or all day Saturday or Sunday at the Library Garage. It is hard to beat these rates
