1964 The Tribute

After a sellout performance at the Schermerhorn last summer, the world's most authentic Beatles tribute returns! Relive all of your favorite hits, including "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "Can't Buy Me Love," "A Hard Day's Night," "Eight Days a Week," "I Feel Fine," "All My Loving" and so many more, as this one-of-a-kind concert experience re-creates an early-’60s performance by the Fab Four, with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles and onstage banter.

 

Watermelon Throwdown

Join the Nashville Farmers' Market in celebration of the Southern favorite that really beats the heat at the Watermelon Throwdown! Enjoy live music, a free watermelon tasting table, a watermelon eating contest, a live chef demonstration in the Edible Kitchen, watermelon beverages, prizes and more.

 

Hilton Nashville Downtown & Trattoria Il Mulino Job Fair

A job fair for both Hilton Nashville Downtown and Trattoria Il Mulino, the hotel's on-site Italian restaurant. Available hotel positions include front office, culinary, banquets, housekeeping, engineering, sales and more. Trattoria Il Mulino is looking for talented professionals in the hospitality/restaurant field including hosts, bartenders, servers, cooks and more. On-site hiring available.

 

First Saturday Art Crawl: 10th Anniversary

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the First Saturday Art Crawl at this crawl! The first organized art crawl was held on August 5, 2006 with only a few galleries participating. Now, 25 art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. See this month's gallery map. Enjoy live music on the performance platform along 5th Avenue North by Kent Burnside, a jazz guitarist. And, The Arts Company presents artist James Threalkill on the platform located near their gallery. Also, Parnassus on Wheels, Peggy, and a voter registration booth. Two Gray Line Art Crawl Downtown Trolleys will provide complimentary shuttle service along the route from 6 pm - 10 pm. Please note: road closure associated with this event. The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, August 6. Participating galleries in this month's crawl include:

The 15th Annual MAFIAoZA'S Music City Brewer's Festival is one of the biggest and best beer festivals in the country. The event is an opportunity to sample some of the most respected brews from more than 45 local, regional, national and imported breweries. Enjoy live music all day, food available for purchase, lawn games and more. This festival has two sessions; buy tickets to one or both. Plus, you can purchase tickets to the Friday night reception at Walk of Fame Park featuring a tasting of specialty brews and food from local restaurants. An all-access pass is also available that includes access to the Friday night reception and both festival sessions.

 

Music City Hot Wing Festival

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, NOON - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK $15 GENERAL ADMISSION; $40 WING PASS; $150 VIP; 12 & UNDER FREE

Nashville’s Cumberland Park will host the seventh annual Music City Hot Wing Festival, the largest hot wing festival in the South. Hot wing and grilling enthusiasts will showcase their skills for a shot at bragging rights and cash prizes for first place, people's choice and more. The festival will feature live music all day by Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Music City Toppers, AJ & The Jiggawatts and more. Plus, the family friendly event will include a hot wing eating competition, food trucks, craft beer, cornhole competitions and more. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $40 for unlimited wings. VIP tickets are $150 and include all you can eat wings, an express line pass, a VIP bar, complimentary beer and wine, private restrooms and access to an air-conditioned VIP tent.

 

Bellissima! Expert Panel Discussion

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS $15 FRIST MEMBERS; $25 NON-MEMBERS

"Bellissima! The Italian Automotive Renaissance, 1945–1975" presents some of the finest postwar Italian-designed and Italian-built automobiles. This panel brings to Nashville three leading experts: Winston Goodfellow, author and photographer of Italian cars; Robert Cumberford, design editor and critic for "Automobile Magazine" and "Sports Car Market" (both contributors to the "Bellissima!" exhibit catalogue); and Donald Osborne, star of the featured segment “Assess & Caress with Donald Osborne” on "Jay Leno’s Garage" and “Etceterini” expert. They will discuss styling and design nuances, engineering attributes and famous owners. Registration is required by Friday, August 5.

 

Yoga on the Bridge

LOCATION: THE BRIDGE BUILDING $5

Yoga on the Bridge takes place on Tuesdays at the Cumberland River Center, located on the third floor of The Bridge Building. This lunchtime yoga session will rejuvenate your mind and body with an hour of vinyasa flow. This all-levels class overlooks one of the most spectacular views of the Cumberland River. Classes are held outside under the pavilion in Cumberland Park depending on weather.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Rahsaan Barber Quartet

The library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 4. Rahsaan Barber Quartet will kick off the series on Tuesday, August 9. Jazz saxophonist Barber blends jazz with elements of blues, funk, fusion, soul, Latin and world music. He has appeared with such musical greats as The Temptations, Gladys Knight, Greg Allman and The Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
