Street Food Thursdays

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.

 

Live on the Green: Jenny Lewis

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 18, 6:30 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse! This eighth annual concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome at this free four-week concert series. The lineup for Thursday, August 18 includes JR JR, Passenger and Jenny Lewis as the headliner. $5 parking is available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park, and at Nissan Stadium. Or, take advantage of free bicycle parking.‚Äč VIP Lounge ($75) and VIP Backstage ($150) tickets are available.

Please note: road closures associated with this event. 

- James Robertson Parkway (3rd Avenue North to Public Square parking entrance): One lane (eastbound traffic) will be closed beginning at 9 am, with the exception of 4 pm - 6 pm
- Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North): One lane (westbound traffic) will be closed beginning at 9 am
- Woodland Street Bridge (Union Street to Nissan Stadium parking lots): At the discretion of Metro Police Department, one lane (westbound traffic) will be closed for use of pedestrian traffic beginning at approximately 4 pm - 5 pm
- Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed beginning at 1 pm
- 3rd Avenue North (James Robertson Parkway to Union Street) will be closed beginning at 9 am

 

Night Market

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Relax and unwind at Night Market! Enjoy live jazz music, seasonal cocktails, wine, craft beer, local artisan booths, plenty of dinner options from Market restaurants and more. Plus, food trucks and other vendors will be outside under the Farm Sheds. Enjoy all the inside fun, and dine and shop under the stars too.

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 21, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Enjoy Jazz on the Cumberland in the park's amphitheater! Sunday, August 21 will feature the Stacy Coake Band. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Jazz on the Cumberland continues monthly through October.

 

Acme Unplugged: Chuck Mead & Friends

Acme Unplugged presented by Wrangler is a monthly series that spotlights the true essence of Nashville: songwriters. Each month in The Hatchery, Acme Unplugged aims to showcase up-and-coming artists, featured mainstays and songwriting legends in a traditional songwriters round format. Monday, August 22 will feature BR549 co-founder Chuck Mead along with a curated selection of his favorite local songwriters and performers.

 

Nashville Originals' Restaurant Week

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 22 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 28

A biannual event sponsored by Nashville Originals, Restaurant Week is a great way to enjoy Nashville's unique local dining establishments. Participating downtown restaurants include Capitol Grille, Fleet Street PubFlyte World Dining and Wine, The Listening Room Cafe, Peg Leg Porker, Provence Breads & CafePuckett's Gro. & RestaurantSalsaSole Mio and Watermark. Courtyard Concerts: Sara Sant'Ambrogio

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 4. Sara Sant'Ambrogio will perform on Tuesday, August 23. Grammy Award-winning cellist Sant’Ambrogio has performed around the world with everyone from Sting to Rudolph Serkin and in venues from the Hollywood Bowl to Carnegie Hall. She has recorded eight albums as the cellist of The Eroica Trio and has recorded four solo albums.

 

Urban Design Forum: Shaping the Healthy Community

LOCATION: NASHVILLE CIVIC DESIGN CENTER FREE FOR NCDC MEMBERS; $10 FOR NON-MEMBERS

If you are interested in learning more about how your neighborhood and the building around you can make you a healthier person, come join the Nashville Civic Design Center at its August Urban Design Forum. The event will feature a presentation by Gary Gaston, co-author of "Shaping the Healthy Community: The Nashville Plan." After the presentation, there will be a discussion on the next steps of the project.

 

‚ÄčToruk: The First Flight by Cirque du Soleil

LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $26 - $145

The new Cirque du Soleil touring show inspired by James Cameron’s record-breaking movie "Avatar," Toruk: The First Flight, will be presented at Bridgestone Arena from August 24 - August 28 as part of a global tour in arenas around the world. Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.

Road Closure: Palo Alto Networks

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 9 AM - 11 PM

1st Avenue (Broadway to Church Street, adjacent to Riverfront Park) will be closed on Wednesday, August 24 from 9 am to 11 pm due to a Palo Alto Networks private event. Estimated attendance is 3,600.

Downtown Grocery Stores

Downtown Nashville has two grocery stores! H.G. Hill Urban Market (415 Church Street) features produce, a selection of meats, bakery items, groceries, prepared food and more. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 9 pm and Saturday - Sunday, 8 am - 9 pm. The Turnip Truck Urban Fare (321 12th Avenue S.) offers organic produce, fresh meats, prepared foods and additional groceries. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 7:30 am - 9 pm and Sunday, 9 am - 8 pm.

Clean and Safe Request Form

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, let us know! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items. Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager. Please note: these services are only available in the CBID and the GBID (maps of these areas are provided on the form page).
