Your favorite local bartenders will compete for Best Old Forester Old Fashioned and Best Coopers' Craft Cocktail! Sample all of the cocktails and vote for your favorite in the People's Choice Award! Bartenders from downtown bars/restaurants include BarlinesChauhan Ale & Masala House, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Kayne Prime, Moto and The Valentine. Tickets include all drink samples.

 

Street Food Thursdays

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.

 

Lunch & Learn: Lloyd Branson Exhibit

THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 12:15 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

Join John Anderson of the Branson Art Organization who will present his reflections on artist Lloyd Branson and the background behind his book, "The Art of Lloyd Branson — A Family Connection." It chronicles Branson’s life, art and the many accolades he received during his impressive career. The book is available at the Museum Store, and Anderson will be available to sign copies after his talk. Pick up lunch from a nearby downtown restaurant or the food trucks at Street Food Thursdays and bring it with you to this event!

 

Salon@615: Noah Galloway

LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

Noah Galloway will discuss his new book "Living With No Excuses." This is a free, ticketed event. There are two ways to get tickets: on-site 30 minutes before show time or in advance online for a $2.50 service fee per ticket. To receive a priority spot in the signing line, you must purchase a copy of the author’s latest book from Parnassus Books.

 

Live on the Green: Dawes

THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 6:15 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse! This eighth annual concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome at this free four-week concert series. The lineup for Thursday, August 25 includes The Record Company, Kurt Vile & The Violators and Dawes as the headliner. $5 parking is available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park, and at Nissan Stadium. Or, take advantage of free bicycle parking.​

Please note: road closures associated with this event. 

- James Robertson Parkway (3rd Avenue North to Public Square parking entrance): One lane (eastbound traffic) will be closed beginning at 9 am, with the exception of 4 pm - 6 pm
- Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North): One lane (westbound traffic) will be closed beginning at 9 am
- Woodland Street Bridge (Union Street to Nissan Stadium parking lots): At the discretion of Metro Police Department, one lane (westbound traffic) will be closed for use of pedestrian traffic beginning at approximately 4 pm - 5 pm
- Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed beginning at 1 pm
- 3rd Avenue North (James Robertson Parkway to Union Street) will be closed beginning at 9 am

LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FRIST MEMBERS: FREE; NON-MEMBERS: $12

This year's final concert of the Frist's popular summer concert series! Attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of live music, light snacks and beverages as well as the diverse exhibits on view in the Frist Center’s galleries. While fronting the veteran roots-rock foursome the Old 97’s, which he co-founded in 1993, Rhett Miller has recorded seven solo albums. Described as an “alt-country lifer” by Rolling Stone, the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and the Old 97’s have earned a devoted following for their endearing blend of pop sensibilities and muscular Texas bar-band twang. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Frist Fridays take place rain or shine.

 

Nashville Transit Triathlon

 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTRAL (BUS STATION) FREE

You are invited to a Nashville Transit Triathlon with Mayor Megan Barry. Ride the bus from Music City Central to the East Nashville Library, walk to 5 Points and bike your way to East Park (600 Woodland Street). Provide input on Metro’s mobility plans on a big map of Nashville while enjoying free food, family activities and giveaways. The Nashville Transit Triathlon begins at 11 am at Music City Central. Join the Mayor at any point along the way as she rides the Gallatin Road BRT Lite (Route 56) that departs at 11:15 am from Bay 16 at Music City Central to the East Nashville Library, walks to the Five Points B-cycle kiosk and bikes down Russell Street to East Park! Transit passes and Nashville B-cycle discounts available.

 

Fashion for a Fraction

Half Full Race

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 28, HALF MARATHON: 7:30 AM; 10K & 5K: 7:45 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM HALF MARATHON: $90 - $100; 10K: $50 - $65; 5K: $35 - $45

The inaugural Half Full Race in Nashville consists of three road races: a half marathon, 10K and 5K. Race entry includes a custom race T-shirt, medal, gift bag, post-race party and refreshments, and more. Please note: road closures associated with this event. The races begin and end at Nissan Stadium, and the majority of the road closures occur outside of the downtown boundary. The Future of Parks

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 29, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: THE BRIDGE BUILDING FREE

Adrian Benepe will share his vast expertise and insights with regard to: communities working to create a balance between “big sexy parks” and small neighborhood parks; park trends and park investments nationally; and the economic impact of growing park systems. This event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided for those who RSVP. The event will take place at the Cumberland River Compact, located inside The Bridge Building.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Stacy Mitchhart

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 30, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The library's hit music series continues. Bring a lunch to the library courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October 4. Stacy Mitchhart will perform on Tuesday, August 30. Mitchhart’s musical journey began in his native Cincinnati, listening to jazz guitar masters like Wes Montgomery and Johnny Smith on the stereo. Since his first album in 1993, "Blues Transfusion," he’s recorded a dozen more. He played his first gigs in Nashville 18 years ago, and knew he’d found his musical home. Thanks in large part to a following developed from his house band slot in the famed Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, he now performs internationally as well.
