Please Note: Road Closures!

Demonbreun Street, eastbound lane and turning lane between 6th and 8th Avenues, will be closed for approximately sixty days. No public access will be allowed in the westbound lanes between 6th and 8th Avenues, except for outbound traffic from the Bridgestone Arena garage and the First Baptist parking lots, for approximately three weeks. Westbound traffic will reopen normally on November 5, 2010. 4th Avenue North, northbound lane and on-street parking, is closed north of the Korean Veterans Boulevard and 4th Avenue intersection. 5th Avenue is now completely open for normal traffic. Halloween Hootenanny

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 7 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM $45

102.9 the Buzz presents this concert featuring performances by The Gruesome Twosome, Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper, and the Murderdolls. Prior to the concert, a costume contest at Free Will Tattoo on 2nd Avenue from 4 - 6 pm. The top ten contestants from this contest will be judged by Rob Zombie. The winner receives lifetime tickets to future Rob Zombie concerts.


Yo Gabba Gabba! Live

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2 PM AND 7 PM 
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $29.50 - $39.50 

Yo Gabba Gabba! Live is a state-of-the-art production featuring music, singing, dancing and animation. The show is an interactive experience that offers audience members of all ages the opportunity to witness their favorite characters come to life. Hip-hop legend Biz Markie will teach kids how to beat box with "Biz's Beat of the Day."


Brahms' Second Piano Concerto

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21 - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 7 PM ON THURSDAY, 8 PM ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM $35 - $85

Soloist Louis Lortie will join the Nashville Symphony orchestra to perform Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto, one of the most challenging piano pieces in the repertoire. Also on the program are Mozart’s Linz Symphony and the prelude to Wagner’s expansive opera Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg.


Brothers' Rockin' Broadway

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 7 PM - 2 AM
LOCATION: WHISKEY BENT SALOON $20

Raising awareness for Pulmonary Hypertension, on behalf of Sid Yochim, 30-year member of The Charlie Daniels Band, this benefit features a long list of live music performances. Donate $20 at the door, and enjoy live music including: Bruce Brown and Charlie Hayward from the The Charlie Daniels Band, Henry Paul and The Outlaws, Bonnie Bramlett, Danny Shirley from Confederate Railroad, Tommy Crain, The Winters Brothers, Scott Boyer, Jack Pearson, Darren Brothers, Jennifer Friend and Trevor Finlay, Jack Gavin, Robin Majors, Danny Curran, Sydney and Tucker Yochim, and surprise guests.
 

Night Market

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 6:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Shop "under the stars" at the first-ever Night Market! Enjoy shopping, wine from the cash bar, warm beverages from merchants, live music, free samples, and much more. Merchants and farm vendors in attendance include JD Country Milk, Hill & Hollow Farm, Triple L Ranch, Provence Breads, Noble Springs Dairy, Percy's Pantry, The Sweet Stash, Further Foods, Gardens of Babylon, Walnut Hills, Swafford Farms, Moose Head Kettle Corn, Barnes Produce, Hardy's Produce, Robertson's Produce, and Fleur de Lis Flavors. This event will be held in the farm sheds, weather permitting.

 

10th Annual Haunted Museum

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 1 PM - 4 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

The "ghost trail" through the museum features prizes and crafts. At stops along the trail there will be chilling ghost stories from Tennessee's past, including those of the Bell Witch and the Cherokee spirit, Spearfinger. The most famous resident on the trail is the museum's 3,600 year-old Egyptian mummy. The trail concludes at the tall tales stage where professional storytellers will relate stories about Tennessee. Complimentary refreshments. Costumes are encouraged. Haunted Museum visitors may park for free in the state employee parking lots, north and west of the State Capitol.


Nashville Oyster Urban Adventure Race

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 8 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: HILTON PARK

The course and race details are kept secret until the start of this urban adventure race. Teams of four to six will run-bike-eat/skate-trek-climb-paddle around downtown Nashville. A half oyster is also an option. Teams consist of three players.


Dreamgirls

LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $32.50 - $72.50

Dreamgirls is the story of an up-and-coming, 1960's singing girl group and their adventure into the famous life. It's a production of Harlem's world-famous Apollo Theater in New York City, and full of drama and entertainment. Music by Academy Award nominee Henry Krieger, and book and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award winner Tom Even.


The DISTRICT Progressive Party

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: HARD ROCK CAFE $50

The 24th Annual Progressive Party begins at the Hard Rock Cafe (100 Broadway), continues to the Ryman Alley (between 4th and 5th Avenues), and ends at the Pinnacle at Symphony Place (150 3rd Avenue South). Tickets include complimentary parking, delicious food from downtown restaurants, wine and beer. Plus, musical entertainment at each stop. Mayor Karl Dean will receive the 2010 Spirit of The DISTRICT Award. The celebrity host for the evening is Kix Brooks. Purchase tickets in advance online or buy at the event by arriving at the Hard Rock Cafe by 7 pm (before the party progresses to the second location). Proceeds from this event go to support The DISTRICT's holiday decorations and other projects.
