Events This Week
Over the span of five years Cathy and Jamie meet, fall in love, marry and divorce. The tale of their passionate, hilarious and heart-breaking relationship is brilliantly told from beginning to end and from end to beginning at the same time. Cathy’s version starts with her final good-bye, while Jamie’s begins with the delight of meeting her. Through some of modern theater’s most exceptional songs, each partner unfolds their account of the relationship—crossing in the middle at their wedding.

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.
On Thursday, September 15, Nashville Public Television (NPT) will present an advance screening of "Poldark" (season 2) in the Frist Center for the Visual Arts auditorium. NPT will screen the first hour of the new season from 6 pm to 7 pm. The event is free, but RSVPs are requested ($3 parking will be available with validation). The Frist Cafe will be open for guests who want a glass of wine or a light meal before or after the screening.

There are two ways to get tickets: on-site 30 minutes before show time or in advance online for a $2.50 service fee per ticket. A final stroke of midnight changes it all when a beautiful princess, handsome prince and glass slipper come together on stage for a sparkling rendition of the fairytale "Cinderella." Two menacing stepsisters (hilariously played by men) inject a little bit of humor into this whimsical love story that chances fate. A refreshing take on the classic tale, Nashville Ballet’s "Cinderella" shows that anything can happen with a little magic—and determination.

More than 30 metered on-street parking spots across downtown will become temporary "park" installations all day on Friday, September 16. Check out these spots on foot, Nashville B-cycle or your preferred mode of transportation. The parking spots will feature a wide variety of activities and installations along Broadway, 2nd Avenue, 5th Avenue as well as in The Gulch. The Music City Star, Tennessee’s only regional passenger rail service, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Friday, September 16. In honor of this achievement, the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee (RTA) is celebrating with its customers by providing free rides (after 3 pm) on Friday, September 16. Additionally the celebration will include an address by RTA Board Chair & Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto, discount coupon cards to be redeemed for discounts at local establishments, free ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s, live entertainment, light refreshments, raffle prizes on the train and more.

Chefs Jonathan Waxman and Travis McShane of Adele's will present a Rosé Summer Harvest Luncheon on Friday, September 16. From noon - 2 pm, guests can enjoy a special summer harvest menu from chefs Waxman and McShane with refreshing rosé wines and rosé sangria, including passed appetizers as well as family-style dishes served in the open kitchen, allowing guests the opportunity to mix, mingle and nosh. Dishes will include whole hog and Alabama white sauce, lamb sausage, kale salad, cauliflower salad, vibrant heirloom tomato, panzanella salad, seasonal bruschetta, shrimp toast, pizzettes and more.

The fourth annual Music City Food + Wine Festival is where national top chefs, winemakers and spirit experts meet with local talent to give you a taste of Nashville’s vibrant culinary scene. Curated by Nashville's own Kings of Leon, this two-day event is filled with bites and beverages to sample and savor as well as demonstrations and panels. All-in passes have sold out, but single day passes are available.

Enjoy Jazz on the Cumberland in the park's amphitheater! Sunday, September 18 will feature the Michael Fair Band. Attendees are encouraged to bring food to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. Jazz on the Cumberland continues monthly through October.
