Downtown Employee Appreciation Week continues!
Do you work in downtown Nashville? Join us for the final days of Employee Appreciation Week! On Thursday, the Make Your Own "Wearable" Art event kicks off at 11:30 am at the SunTrust Plaza. On Friday, join the Nashville Predators as they host the Golden Lunch Break from noon to 2 pm at the Bridgestone Arena Plaza. Plus, check out this list of restaurants, retailers and other businesses who are offering special discounts and freebies during the week.

Al Menah Temple Shrine Circus

The Al Menah Temple Shrine Circus is back at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium—a fun family adventure for all ages. Plus, join the pre-party one hour before show times. For a small additional fee, ride an elephant or pony, get your face painted, and meet circus stars up close and in person.

 

Street Food Thursdays

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday through October.

 

Lunch & Learn: Murder & Mayhem in Nashville History

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 12:15 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

The next lunch and learn event at Tennessee State Museum features "Murder and Mayhem in Nashville History" with author and Nashville historian Brian Allison. Throughout its history, Nashville has witnessed its share of murders and crime. Learn about some of the more notorious crimes in Nashville history. This event will take you through the seedy side of Nashville while revealing the debauched side of Smoky Row and the capital crimes that took place on street corners we walk every day. The event is free and will take place at 12:15 pm on B Level of the museum in front of the stage.

 

Southern Festival of Books

Humanities Tennessee's Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written Word is an event that offers readers and writers an opportunity to interact and to create a public community around a festival that promotes and celebrates the joy of reading and lifelong learning. Each year, the festival brings to Nashville approximately 200 of the nation's and region's most prominent authors. Every author on the program takes part in a session, either a solo reading or a panel discussion, followed by a book signing. In addition, the festival hosts popular book exhibits and programs on three performance stages throughout the event.

 

Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 7 PM

The Nashville Predators begin their 19th season with a home-and-home series against the rival Chicago Blackhawks as the 2016-2017 campaign gets underway on Friday, October 14 at Bridgestone Arena. The month of October sees the Preds face off against seven different opponents, all of whom qualified for the postseason in 2016, as the club begins their quest for their first Stanley Cup.

 

Cooking Class with Chef Maneet Chauhan

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 10 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: CHAUHAN ALE & MASALA HOUSE $130

Join Chauhan Ale & Masala House for its fall cooking class series! Get hands on with Maneet Chauhan as she walks you through a culinary journey of inspired dishes using the season's freshest ingredients. You will be paired in a small group to prepare one of five courses, including a mixology course with Chef Chauhan and her team. After the dishes are completed, everyone will sit down and enjoy the fruits of their labor along with beverage pairings. Each participant will receive a packet of Chef Chauhan's recipes so you can try them at home! Limited spots available. This is a 21+ event.

 

Walk to End Alzheimer's

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, REGISTRATION: 7:30 AM; CEREMONY: 8:30 AM; WALK: 9 AM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK FREE

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The walks are held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide. While there is no fee to register, each participant is encouraged to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness. Registration begins at 7:30 am, the ceremony is at 8:30 am and the walk begins at 9 am. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 5th Avenue South (Demonbreun to Korean Veterans Boulevard) will be closed from 9 am - 9:15 am, and the far right lane on Korean Veterans Boulevard will be closed until 9:45 am. Road to the Hall of Fame Red Carpet Experience

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

Don’t miss the red carpet arrivals before the 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductions of Fred Foster, Charlie Daniels and Randy Travis. This event is hosted by Bill Cody from WSM AM 650 and Beville Dunkerley from Rolling Stone Country. Guests will enjoy interviews, trivia, giveaways and more. The fan experience is free and open to the public. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Demonbreun (adjacent to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum) will be closed beginning as early as 8 am on Saturday, October 15 until as late as 11:59 pm on Sunday, October 16.

 

Rent—20th Anniversary Tour

505 is under construction at the southwest corner of Church Street and 5th Avenue North. The following lane closure related to the construction of 505 is anticipated and has been authorized over the next several days. The eastbound lane of Church Street (6th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed:
