New restaurant: The Diner Nashville!
200 3rd Avenue South. 615-299-1585. This new diner in SoBro is open 24/7. The restaurant has six floors with an oyster and sushi bar on the top floor, the first floor is set up like a soda shop, the second floor is the bar and dining areas on floors three, five and six.

The Ohio Valley Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament returns to the Nashville Municipal Auditorium for the seventh year in a row with its four-day, 14-game event! Click here for participating teams and a complete schedule of events.

 

23rd Annual Tom King Classic Half Marathon & 5K

SATURDAY, MARCH 4, HALF MARATHON: 8 AM; 5K: 8:15 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM HALF MARATHON: $85; 5K: $40

The Tom King Classic half marathon and 5K races are back for their 23rd year! Click here for the half marathon route map, and click here for the 5K route map. Please note: road closures associated with this event. The courses begin and end at Nissan Stadium, traveling out of downtown. Closures begin as early as 6 am and end as late as noon on Saturday, March 4 along the roads in the above course routes (impacting downtown roads South 1st Street, Russell Street, Titans Way, Victory Avenue and South 2nd Street). Estimated attendance is 1,200 people.

 

Legacies of War Artist's Talk with Sisavanh Phouthavong

SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 5 PM - 6 PM
LOCATION: TINNEY CONTEMPORARY FREE

"Legacies of War" is an exhibit of new work by Sisavanh Phouthavong at Tinney Contemporary. Phouthavong will be holding an artist talk at the gallery on Saturday, March 4 before the First Saturday Art Crawl. She is one of the first professional Lao American visual artists and educators of her generation. Over 5,400 Lao refugees resettled in Kansas in the aftermath of the Laotian Civil War that ended in 1975. Through her powerful acrylic work, she confronts the challenges of bicultural memory and documentation.

 

Art Exhibit: These City Streets

SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 4 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CIVIC DESIGN CENTER FREE

The Nashville Civic Design Center will host the art exhibit "These City Streets" on Saturday, March 4. In this exhibit, students at Nashville School of the Arts explore their visual and written perspectives on downtown Nashville. Have plans to attend the First Saturday Art Crawl? Stop by this exhibit between 4 pm - 7 pm before the crawl.

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. See the gallery map. Two Gray Line Art Crawl Downtown Trolleys will provide complimentary shuttle service along the route from 6 pm - 10 pm. Please note: road closure associated with this event. The southbound lane on 5th Avenue North (Church Street to Union Street) will be closed beginning as early as 5 pm and ending as late as 9 pm on Saturday, March 4. Mardi Gras Masquerade

Don't miss Nashville’s only turn-of-the-century Mardi Gras masquerade in an 1840s mansion, featuring authentic New Orleans hot jazz and a costume contest. You have two ticket options to choose from. The Bourbon Street ticket includes an open bar, jambalaya and a swing dance lesson. The Saint Charles Avenue ticket includes private lounge access and seating area, a private bartender, an open top-shelf bar, jambalaya and a swing dance lesson. 21+ event.

 

Voices of Spring

This annual showcase for the Nashville Symphony Chorus is a can’t-miss event for fans of choral music, with selections ranging from beloved classics to groundbreaking contemporary works. Conductor Tucker Biddlecombe (who will officially take over as chorus director in September) has planned a program that will delight, surprise and intrigue. Admission is free, and seats are general admission. GnashVegas Casino Gala & Auction

LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $200 - $500

Join the Nashville Predators on Sunday, March 5 for the seventh annual GnashVegas Casino Night & Auction. You will have the opportunity to challenge Roman Josi to a game of blackjack, see if your poker face is better than Pekka Rinne's or join Ryan Johansen as he rolls the dice at the craps table. Fans are invited to mix and mingle at the casino tables with Preds players, coaches and broadcasters. Enjoy delicious food from local restaurants and tasty beverages from an open bar. This exciting event will feature one-of-a-kind auction packages and priceless experiences. VIP guests will be invited to a reception with the team prior to the main event. The 2017 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament is coming to Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, March 8 - Sunday, March 12! The games may be sold out, but enjoy all of the excitement at Fanfare. The four-day festival will feature interactive games, live entertainment, food and beverages, and much more. Several road closures are planned downtown for the 2017 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament (Wednesday, March 8 - Sunday, March 12 at Bridgestone Arena) and Fanfare (Thursday, March 9 - Sunday, March 12 along Broadway):

Monday, March 6:
- Broadway from 4th to 5th Avenue will be closed from 1 pm on Monday, March 6 until 8 pm on Sunday, March 12

Tuesday, March 7:
- Broadway from 3rd to 4th Avenue will be closed from 8 am on Tuesday, March 7 until 8 pm on Sunday, March 12

Road Closure: Financial Research Associates Block Party

MONDAY, MARCH 6, 9 AM - 10 PM

5th Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun) will be closed on Monday, March 6 from 9 am - 10 pm due to a Financial Research Associates Block Party (private event). Estimated attendance is 1,000.

Public Meeting: 2nd Avenue

A public meeting will be held on Thursday, March 16 at 5:30 pm about the trees on 2nd Avenue North - specifically about trimming that will be done to the tree canopies and the schedule of this work. This meeting has been coordinated by The DISTRICT, Nashville Downtown Partnership, Metro Public Works and Metro Parks. The meeting will be held at the Nashville Downtown Partnership.
