New restaurant and bar: Pastime!
717 3rd Avenue North. 615-840-8748. This restaurant and bar is located next to First Tennessee Park and a is a tribute to baseball and Nashville. Hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday, 11 am - 11 pm and Friday - Saturday, 11 am - 2:30 am.

 

New nail salon: The Gulch Nail Bar!
1112 Division Street. 615-928-6738. This nail salon is located in the ICON in The Gulch. They offer a full range of nail services. Hours of operation are Monday, 10:30 am - 8 pm; Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 8 pm; and Sunday, noon - 6 pm. 

 

New barber: Scout's Barbershop!
811 Gleaves Street. 615-840-7514. This new barbershop in The Gulch offers free coffee or beer to each client. They offer hair care services to men and women. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 10 am - 8 pm; Saturday, 9 am - 7 pm; and Sunday, noon - 6 pm.

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Belmont Bruins

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22, 6:35 PM
LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK $8 - $19

First Tennessee Park will host a college baseball game between a pair of Nashville universities when the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Belmont Bruins at the home of the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday, March 22. {Note: this game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 21.}

 

Complimentary Lunch at The SoBro Apartments

THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 11 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: THE SOBRO APARTMENTS FREE

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every other Thursday from November through March (in April the trucks will be there weekly). 

 

Ragnar Relay

FRIDAY, MARCH 24 - SATURDAY, MARCH 25

Ragnar Relay is a 196-mile, team-oriented running event that will push participants through the birthplace of country music: Tennessee. Starting in Chattanooga, runners will hug the Tennessee River and head northwest. Teams will run, day and night, across the rolling hills of southern Tennessee. After the hills, runners will pass through historic Lynchburg. The race will wrap up when participants honky tonk their way to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. Please note: road closure associated with this event. 5th Avenue North (Demonbreun to Broadway) will be closed from 4 am until 11 pm on Saturday, March 25. Estimated attendance in 2,500.

 

Hilton Nashville Downtown & Trattoria Il Mulino Job Fair

SATURDAY, MARCH 25, 9 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: HILTON NASHVILLE DOWNTOWN

Both the Hilton Nashville Downtown and Trattoria Il Mulino, the hotel's on-site Italian restaurant, will host a job fair on Saturday, March 25. Available hotel positions include culinary, banquets, housekeeping, engineering and more. Trattoria Il Mulino is looking for talented professionals in the hospitality/restaurant field including hosts, bartenders, servers, master cooks and more. On-site hiring available. This job fair will take place in the Hilton's Ryman 2 Room on the Mezzanine Level.

Greg Iles was born in Germany in 1960, where his father ran the U.S. Embassy Medical Clinic during the height of the Cold War. Iles spent his youth in Natchez, Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1983. His novels have been made into films, translated into more than 20 languages and published in more than 35 countries worldwide. He will discuss "Mississippi Blood," the exhilarating, highly anticipated final volume in the epic Natchez Burning trilogy. This is a free, ticketed event. There are two ways to get tickets: on-site 30 minutes before show time or in advance online for a $2.50 service fee per ticket. To receive a priority spot in the signing line, you must purchase a copy of the author’s latest book from Parnassus Books.

 

Free Community Appreciation Day

SUNDAY, MARCH 26, 9 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: RYMAN AUDITORIUM FREE

In celebration of the Ryman Auditorium's 125th anniversary, Tennessee residents are invited to experience the legendary venue during free self-guided tours as part of its Community Appreciation Day on Sunday, March 26. The tour will include admission to the state-of-the-art theater experience, "Soul of Nashville," that showcases the Ryman's fascinating history. Guests can also check out five new exhibits dedicated to the Ryman's 125th anniversary. Plus, the event will feature food and beverage deals at Cafe Lula at the Ryman (buy one entree, get one for $1.25), 20% off merchandise in the Ryman Gift Shop and free live music outside on the plaza.

 

Jazz on the Move

SUNDAY, MARCH 26, 3 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

The Nashville Jazz Workshop, in collaboration with the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, presents the 11th season of the popular jazz performance and education series Jazz on the Move. Each installment features a lecture and performance highlighting a major figure or period in jazz history. Presented by Nashville’s top jazz artists/educators, the series offers audiences world-class music as well as an opportunity to learn more about jazz. This year has a bit of a birthday theme, as three jazz legends—Dizzy, Monk and Lena—would be celebrating their 100th birthdays in 2017. In March, Connye Florance will pay tribute to Lena Horne.

 

Speaker Series 2017: Herbert H. Slatery III

Nashville City Club is hosting a speaker series for 2017. Monday, March 27 will feature Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III. Slatery was sworn in as the Attorney General and Reporter for the State of Tennessee on October 1, 2014. He was appointed by the Supreme Court to serve an eight-year term.

 

Tin Pan South

TUESDAY, MARCH 28 - SATURDAY, APRIL 1, SHOW TIMES VARY BY DATE

Tin Pan South is the world's largest songwriters' festival. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the festival boasts more than 300 songwriters in more than 90 shows over five nights in celebrated venues throughout Nashville. Downtown venues include 3rd and LindsleyHard Rock CafeThe Listening Room Cafe and Station InnClick here for the complete schedule. Fast Access Passes have sold out for the festival. Without a Fast Access Pass, festival admission is on a show-by-show, cash-at-the-door basis.

 

Who Knew presents Women Who Rock

THURSDAY, MARCH 30, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: CITY WINERY $20

Who Knew continues its run on Thursday, March 30 at City Winery. Women rule the evening as Who Knew presents Women Who Rock featuring a slate of speakers, all of whom are icons in their respective segments of the music industry. You'll get insight from a Music Row attorney and end up at The Bluebird Cafe, learning about record production, radio, marketing and more along the way. Who Knew offers some of the best networking opportunities in Nashville, so don't miss your chance to meet these industry leaders and the rest of the more than 600 attendees.
