SoBro Star: Musical Talent Competition

THROUGH MONDAY, APRIL 3
LOCATION: THE SOBRO APARTMENTS

The SoBro Apartments is hosting a musical talent competition. They are looking for one up-and-coming Nashville artist to live in The SoBro rent-free and provide in-house musical entertainment for residents for one year. Do you think you have what it takes or know someone who might be a good fit? Post a one-minute (or less) video on Facebook or Instagram by Monday, April 3 and use the hashtag #TheSoBroStar. Finalists will be expected to play 1-3 songs on-site Saturday, April 22 in front of a live audience and panel of judges. The 31st annual Southern Women's Show is back! More than 500 exhibits will feature fashion and accessories, gifts and gourmet, travel destinations and more. Kellie Pickler will appear on Friday, March 31, Keegan Allen from "Pretty Little Liars" on Saturday, April 1 and Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez on Sunday, April 2. Plus, the event will also include hourly fashion shows, cooking programs and informative seminars.

 

Cocktails & Conversation

FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 5 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: THE ARTS COMPANY FREE

Join The Arts Company for Cocktails & Conversation featuring 2017 Nashville Fashion Forward Fund Recipient Brett Warren speaking about his exhibit "Photography Emporium." The exhibit will explore the world of engineering prints, using a special technique in order to apply marbled abstract color to the existing colorless prints. The pop-up exhibit will be featured at The Arts Company during the First Saturday Art Crawl on April 1, and it will continue for two weeks through April 15. Click here for more information and to RSVP.

For the 11th anniversary of this popular annual event, Nashville's most accomplished musicians will fill Christ Church Cathedral with music by J.S. Bach, interpreted in traditional and creative ways. Refreshments and souvenirs will be on sale.

 

The Cash Legacy: A Tribute to the Man in Black

A musical exploration that blurs the lines between musical theatre and concert experience, Studio Tenn’s theatrical concert “The Cash Legacy: A Tribute to the Man in Black” pays homage to the music and songwriting of Johnny Cash that continues to live through each of us today. Following a musical format unlike any show of the past, this innovative production is comprised a new, star-studded ensemble of singers and musicians. “Always Patsy Cline” star Mandy Barnett, Grammy Award winner Ashley Cleveland and many others reimagine Cash’s hits through updated arrangements that span music of all genres. Two chances to catch this performance: Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1.

Join the Nashville Predators Foundation for the 12th annual Wine Festival & Tasting on Friday, March 31 over the ice at Bridgestone Arena. The festival will feature more than 200 high-end wines, beer, a spirits tasting and an extensive silent auction with more than 200 items.

On Saturday, April 1, the race for good financial health is back and better than ever! Grab your water bottle, ready your racing shoes and join Nashville’s first-ever 4.01K race (2.49 miles) for financial fitness benefiting the Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee! Junior Achievement offers financial literacy, college and career readiness, and entrepreneurship education to K-12 students throughout Middle Tennessee.

First Saturday Art Crawl

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Declaration Day Ceremony to Commemorate U.S. Entry into WWI

THURSDAY, APRIL 6, NOON
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL BUILDING & LEGISLATIVE PLAZA FREE

Join a public event to commemorate U.S. entry into World War I on Thursday, April 6 at noon in the courtyard of the War Memorial Building. A declaration day ceremony will honor all Tennesseans who served in WWI, which began on April 6, 1917. It will also recognize the more than 3,400 Tennessee soldiers who lost their lives during the war. In September 1925, the War Memorial Building was dedicated to commemorate those who served.

Volunteers Needed! 

The 14th Annual Live it Up! Downtown Home Tour is Sunday, April 23 from 1 pm - 6 pm. More than 50 volunteers are needed. Duties include checking tickets and guiding attendees to the units on display. Volunteers will receive one free tour ticket ($10 value) and a t-shirt. More info about this opportunity and how to sign up. Shift A has already been covered. We are seeking volunteers for B (2:30 pm - 4:45 pm and C (4:15 pm - 6:15 pm).
