Nashville Fashion Week

THROUGH SATURDAY, APRIL 8

Nashville Fashion Week is a city-wide celebration of Nashville’s thriving fashion and retail community and its vast array of creative talent. Local, regional and national designers and industry professionals are featured in an array of creative events throughout the week. Explore the city’s diverse fashion and retail spaces with promotions, partnerships and educational workshops. Nashville Fashion Week includes Shop Nashville Week highlighting special events, trunk shows and deals throughout the city, including events at downtown retailers Margaret Ellis, Inc., Rachel's Boutique and Two Old Hippies. Additional downtown events include An Evening of Photography and Fashion at Tinney Contemporary, The Rymer Gallery and The Frist Center for the Visual Arts on Thursday, April 6, Introduction to Hand Sewing Workshop at Aurora Nashville inside The Pinnacle on Saturday, April 8 and How To: Make Money Blogging at The Westin Nashville on Saturday, April 8. Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, APRIL 6, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday.

 

Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival

SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 9 AM - 5 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-friendly celebration of spring and Japanese culture on the front lawn of the Metro Courthouse at Public Square. The festival will begin at 9 am with the Cherry Blossom Walk. Festival highlights include Japanese music and dance, a roving “Candyman,” martial arts demonstrations, art, anime merchandise, children’s activities, sumo-suit wrestling, cosplay contest and a variety of Japanese cuisine featuring special menus from some of Nashville’s favorite food trucks. Proceeds benefit the 10-year mission of planting 100 Japanese cherry trees each spring in Nashville parks and neighborhoods. Please note: road closures associated with this event for Saturday, April 8 from 7 am until 7 pm:

- 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to James Robertson Parkway)
- Deaderick Street (3rd Avenue North to 4th Avenue North)
- Charlotte Avenue (James Robertson Parkway to 3rd Avenue North)
- Lane closure on Union Street next to Public Square (1st Avenue North to 3rd Avenue North)

 

Walk for Wishes

SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 9 AM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL FREE

Bringing hope, strength and joy to children battling life-threatening medical conditions in the community is as easy as lacing up your walking shoes. Kids, volunteers and community members can come together in support of the Make-A-Wish mission. This is a family-friendly, dog-friendly, 1-mile walk. The event will kick off by granting a wish on stage at 9 am. Please note: road closures associated with this event on Saturday, April 8. Sixth Avenue North and 7th Avenue North (Harrison Street to Jefferson Street ) will be closed from approximately 7:30 am - 11 am. Harrison Street (7th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North), 5th Avenue North (Harrison Street to Jefferson Street) and Jefferson Street (5th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North) will be closed from approximately 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

 

Walk MS

SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 10 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM FREE

Walk MS supports life-changing programs and cutting-edge research for the more than 9,000 people living with multiple sclerosis in the Mid-South region. The event is free for participants, but donations are encouraged. Click here to register in advance. Slow Art Day

SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 10 AM - 5:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE ADMISSION ALL DAY; PRICE VARIES DEPENDING ON ACTIVITY (SOME FREE)

The Frist Center is participating in Slow Art Day! Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: to help more people discover for themselves the joy of appreciating art. On Saturday, April 8, museums and galleries all over the world will encourage visitors to slow down and contemplate several works of art for an extended period of time, with the goal of making new discoveries. Ragin' Cajun Crawfish Boil

SATURDAY, APRIL 8, 4 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK $54.95 GENERAL ADMISSION; $79.95 VIP

The 17th Annual Ragin’ Cajun Crawfish Boil is on Saturday, April 8 at Cumberland Park. Tickets include all-you-can-eat crawfish and Louisiana-style sides along with all-you-can-drink beer and a full musical lineup. VIP tickets include one hour early entry, access to VIP bathrooms, a separate beer line and a free 22 oz. stein. This annual event is hosted by the Nashville Junior Chamber with proceeds benefiting Greenways for Nashville.

LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

John Oates will discuss his new book, "Change of Seasons: A Memoir," written with Chris Epting. Oates grew up outside of Philadelphia in the early '50s. At Temple University, he met fellow musician Daryl Hall. Hall & Oates recorded 21 albums, which have sold more than 80 million units, making them the most successful duo in rock history. Epting is an author and award-winning journalist. This is a free, ticketed event. There are two ways to get tickets: on-site 30 minutes before show time or in advance online for a $2.50 service fee per ticket. To receive a priority spot in the signing line, you must purchase a copy of the author’s latest book from Parnassus Books.

Our 14th Annual Downtown Home Tour is Sunday, April 23. This year's tour showcases living spaces within older, historic residential buildings, as well as brand new rental buildings and housing that will be available soon.
