162 4th Avenue North. 615-248-1944. This popular lunch restaurant has recently moved from Union Street to 4th Avenue. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 11 am - 3 pm.

 

New location: Salon J and Day Spa!

New nightlife option: Rudy's Jazz Room!
809 Gleaves Street. 615-988-2458. The new jazz spot in The Gulch serves classic New Orleans cocktails, local beer and Cajun cuisine. Hours of operation are Sunday - Tuesday, 5 pm - midnight and Wednesday - Saturday, 5 pm - 3 am.

Jeni’s x Yazoo Party

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: YAZOO BREWING COMPANY AND TAPROOM FREE TO ATTEND

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Yazoo Brewing Company are teaming up for a new summer flavor: Yazoo Sue with Rosemary Bar Nuts! Jeni's founder Jeni Britton Bauer and the Yazoo team collaborated on this special flavor, with cherry wood-smoked porter beer by Yazoo, grass-grazed Ohio milk and fistfuls of almonds, cashews, peanuts and pecans dusted with rosemary, brown sugar and cayenne. Bauer will be in Nashville to celebrate the new flavor at Yazoo Taproom with an ice cream and beer social. They’ll have tons of the new flavor on hand, flights from Yazoo and Bauer herself to chat about this special partnership. The event is free, but the beer and ice cream will be pay as you go.

 

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 9 am until 2 pm on the day of the event.

 

MTA Public Meetings on Proposed Fare & Service Changes

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 11 AM - 12:30 PM
LOCATION: MUSIC CITY CENTRAL FREE

The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) will hold public meetings to discuss this fall's semi-annual system changes and Nashville Mayor Megan Barry’s State of Metro call to "eliminate transfer fees" for riders. This meeting to gather feedback on the proposed changes and to answer questions will also take place on Tuesday, June 20 (4:30 pm - 6 pm) at Music City Central's Community Meeting Room. Del Frisco’s Grille is celebrating Father’s Day all weekend with a featured entrée and special Gentleman’s Mule cocktail (a twist on the classic Moscow Mule made with bourbon) from Friday, June 16 through Sunday, June 18. Guests can enjoy an 18 oz. 28-day, bone-in, dry-aged strip steak along with any side item for $49. On Sunday only, guests can enjoy the Grille’s dinner menu all day (including brunch hours). Night Market

Relax and unwind at Night Market, a monthly event that takes place on the third Friday at the Nashville Farmers' Market both outside under the sheds as well as inside the Market House. Enjoy seasonal cocktails, wine, craft beer, local artisan booths, plenty of dinner options from Market restaurants, activities for families and more. Each month features different special events and featured artisans. Plus, you'll hear the best eclectic mix of vinyl records Music City has to offer by DJ Tim Hibbs inside the Market House and Matthew Maglione outside under the sheds.

 

Bridging the Gap Mixer

FRIDAY, JUNE 16, 4 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE SOUTH

The Bridging the Gap Mixer is the highly anticipated kick off to the Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival! This one-of-a-kind event brings together artists, entertainment and vendors for a night full of great musical performances from Nashville's hottest artists covering jazz, R&B and blues music. Plus, a large selection of food, cocktails and merchandise vendors will be on-site. The Bridging the Gap Mixer has a new location this year on 5th Avenue South between Korean Veterans Boulevard and Demonbreun. Please note: road closure associated with this event. 5th Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun) will be closed from 10 am on Friday, June 16 until 2 am on Saturday, June 17.

 

Thunder on the Cumberland

SATURDAY, JUNE 17 - SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 11 AM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE

Acme Radio Live is pleased to announce the return of Tennessee’s only Formula 1 Powerboat race—Thunder on the Cumberland presented by Toyota! The second annual race will take place Father’s Day weekend on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18 on the Cumberland River. Acme Radio Live and Toyota will host the free community event on Riverfront Park and the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge with food trucks, bars, music and the best view of the weekend’s races. Gates open at 11 am daily, with qualifying races commencing at 1 pm on Saturday and the final championship races at noon on Sunday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Riverfront Park at 1st Avenue (Church Street to Broadway) will be closed from 8 am on Saturday, June 17 until 6 pm on Sunday, June 18.

 

Nissan Taste of Music City Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE $59 IN ADVANCE; $69 DAY OF EVENT (CASH ONLY IF AVAILABLE)

Nashville's largest food and drink festival is celebrating 15 years! The Nissan Taste of Music City is an all-inclusive food tasting event with a one price admission. Attendees have the opportunity to enjoy tastings from some of the area's best restaurants along with some of Nashville's local beverage flavors. Attendees can also watch and learn from a group of Nashville's top chefs as they cook on-site and provide demonstrations for attendees to enjoy. Come out and enjoy the food and beverage samples this summer along with music from local artists and keep the fun going. Please note: road closure associated with this event. 3rd Avenue North (Union Street to Charlotte Avenue) will be closed from 11 am on Saturday, June 17 until 2 am on Sunday, June 18.

 

Jefferson Street Jazz & Blues Festival

SATURDAY, JUNE 17, GATES OPEN: 2 PM; SHOW STARTS: 3 PM
LOCATION: BICENTENNIAL MALL GENERAL ADMISSION: $20 IN ADVANCE, $25 AT THE GATE; VIP: $30 IN ADVANCE, $35 AT THE GATE

The 17th annual Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival is a daylong event that showcases national and local jazz and blues musicians as well as celebrates the musical heritage of Jefferson Street. Headliners of the festival’s main event are Rose Royce, the R&B band with a string of great hits from the '70s, and Shirley Murdock, a soulful singer-songwriter. The musical event features a main stage in the Bicentennial Mall amphitheater along with vendors, food trucks, a customized children’s pavilion and much more. 

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Join the annual Father's Day edition of the sixth season of Jazz on the Cumberland featuring a live performance by The Sista Ruth Jazz Band. Food trucks and concessions will open at 4 pm, and showtime is from 5:30 pm - 8 pm. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. $5 parking is available at Nissan Stadium Lots R & T. This event takes place on the third Sunday of every month through October.

 

Father's Day at Chauhan

SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 5 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: CHAUHAN ALE & MASALA HOUSE

Treat dad to an unforgettable Father’s Day dinner of Indian spice-rubbed BBQ with all the fixings at Chauhan! The Indian BBQ Platter—which includes Tamarind BBQ Ribs, Garam Masala Pulled Pork, Tandoori Spiced Chicken and Seehk Kababs—will be served family style for the whole table to share. Farm Indian Pickles, Coconut Green Chili Coleslaw, Potato Salad Chaat and “Indian” Street Corn will be served on the side. This offering is an option for dinner on Sunday, June 18. Treat dad to a dim sum brunch—an experience unlike any other in town. TànsuÇ’’s eclectic brunch menu includes memorable dishes such as the Shanghai Shrimp Spring Rolls, Roasted Pork Belly, slow cooked Berkshire pork, Shanghai street-cart fried bread rolls with hoisin and chili sauce. Just in time for Father’s Day, Tansuo is rolling out (literally!) traditional dim sum carts for service and offering additional dim sum dishes. Reservations can be made online.

Make Music Nashville

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21

Make Music Nashville is an all-day, open-access, free festival taking place in various neighborhoods in Nashville on Wednesday, June 21. Participation is encouraged from all ages, music genres and abilities. This year’s festival features more than 100 artists performing at 30 venues, over 500 instrument giveaways and 30 group jams of varying styles throughout the city. Make Music Nashville joins more than 750 cities and 120 countries worldwide in celebrating World Music Day on June 21. Music City’s International Day of Yoga

Join Small World Yoga for a free evening of yoga in the park to celebrate the third annual International Day of Yoga and the growing Nashville yoga community! Four amazing local instructors will co-lead this all-levels yoga session with music by DJ Aydamn and Dirty Proper. This free, family-friendly event will also feature food trucks and vendors. The event is from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm, and yoga starts at 6:30 pm.

 

Lunch & Learn: Appalachian Watercolors of the Serpentine Chain

THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

Join the Tennessee State Museum for a lunch and learn lecture by Alan Shuptrine for his exhibit "Appalachian Watercolors of the Serpentine Chain." Shuptrine, nationally recognized for his paintings, will talk about his creative process for this body of work that celebrates the connections of our Appalachian mountains and their historical and cultural counterparts in the British Isles. The Museum's lunch and learn series is just what it says—a chance for participants to eat lunch while learning something about Tennessee history at the same time. Whether you bring your lunch in a brown bag or grab a sandwich from a nearby shop, bring it to the museum and enjoy an interesting talk while you eat.
