28 Arcade. 615-495-7088. This new shop inside The Arcade sells a variety of bath bombs, bath salts, luxury soap and other products including a variety of organic options. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm and Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm.

Lunch & Learn About the Deadliest Train Crash in U.S. History

 

THURSDAY, JULY 20, 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

On Thursday, July 20, local historian Betsy Thorpe will present “Wartime Casualties at Home: How Nationalization of the Railways During WWI Led to the Deadliest Train Crash in U.S. History.” In July of 1918, two steam locomotives collided head-on in a cornfield at the edge of Nashville, taking the lives of more than 100 people and injuring at least 300 others. Thorpe, the author of "The Day the Whistles Cried," will explore the backdrop of wartime urgency and human error that helped cause this tragic disaster. She will also focus on how the racial and societal divisions of the early 20th century affected who would perish and who would survive the deadly train wreck at Dutchman’s Curve.

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 9 am until 2 pm on the day of the event.

 

Who Knew

Who Knew presents The Pitch at City Winery on Thursday, July 20. Come witness eight different bands play for and pitch to seven different A&R executives. Glow-in-the-Dark Skate

 

FRIDAY, JULY 21, 5 PM - 10:30 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $15 GENERAL ADMISSION

Join the Nashville Predators for the last chance to skate on 2017 Stanley Cup Final ice at Bridgestone Arena! This glow-in-the-dark skate is open to all of Smashville. Be sure to sport your “glowing” Preds pride and wear colors that illuminate on the ice. Before or after your skate, visit the Team Store and check out seats still available for purchase for the 2017-2018 season. Free parking is available at the 6th Avenue Garage at 6th Avenue South and Demonbreun. Skate rental is included in the price. This rate will allow guests to skate for one hour.

 

Casa de Montecristo Grand Opening

Casa de Montecristo offers the finest selection of premium handmade cigars, smoking accessories, state-of-the-art walk-in humidors, and lush and comfortable lounge areas. They just opened a new location in The Gulch, and they're celebrating with a grand opening event. Peach Jam Night Market

 

FRIDAY, JULY 21, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET FREE

Relax and unwind at Night Market, a monthly event that takes place on the third Friday at the Nashville Farmers' Market both outside under the sheds as well as inside the Market House. Enjoy an evening of shopping, sipping, dancing and eating—all with local food artisans, artists, crafters, flea merchants, farmers and food trucks. Each month features different special events and featured artisans. This month, they'll have a sweet table of free peach samples for guests, peachy cooking demos in the farm sheds, live DJs and soul music. Plus, very special guest Von Elrod's Beer Garden & Sausage House will debut their much-awaited Germantown beer garden in the Market House for Peach Jam Night Market. There will also be fun kids' activities for the littles and a tasty peach cocktail for the adults.

 

PechaKucha Night: Shaping an Artful Community

From cutting edge galleries to new initiatives in bringing art to the community, Nashville is growing its reputation as a lab for creativity. Come hear a curated lineup of visionary thinkers and doers whose energy is likely to inspire and hasten the artistic transformation of the city. The original PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as a way for young designers to meet, network and show their work to the public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with PechaKucha Nights now happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from a Japanese term for the sound of "chitchat," its format is simple—20 images x 20 seconds—making presentations concise and moving things along at a rapid pace.

 

Music City Triathlon

 

SUNDAY, JULY 23, 7 AM

The 9th annual Music City Triathlon returns to Music City Sunday, July 23. Swim the Cumberland River (1.5K), bike through East Nashville on a completely closed and traffic-free Ellington Parkway (45K) and run on a new flat course (10K). Not ready for the whole thing? Relay teams, the Aquabike category (swimming and biking only) or the Cyclorun category (biking and running only) are also options. Or, cheer on participants as they make their way along the course. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Downtown closures include Victory Avenue (South 1st Street to Titans Way), Titans Way (Victory Avenue to Russell Street), Russell Street (Titans Way to South 1st Street) and South 1st Street (Victory Avenue running south of downtown) will be closed as early as 5 am until as late as 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 23. The Porch Wine Series: How Does Oak Affect Chardonnay?

Join City Winery for a fun, casual and informative series of tastings and gatherings throughout the summer! Relax on the patio with one of its sommeliers as you’re guided through wines you can continue enjoying past the summer. This session is all about chardonnay. Chardonnay, considered one of the world’s premier white grapes, is often referred to by winemakers as a “blank canvas.” What does that mean? Basically, it means chardonnay is very susceptible to the influence of wood. In this class, taste and explore the variety of flavor profiles in popular styles of chardonnay.

Express Bus Service to Airport

Traveling by air anytime soon? Save time and money by riding the Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority's bus route to and from the airport.
