New clothing store: Blush Boutique!
144 5th Avenue N. 615-770-0068. Blush has opened its second shop downtown. This one is located on 5th Avenue North, just south of the Downtown Presbyterian Church. The store offers women's clothing, jewelry and accessories. Hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 8 pm and Sunday, 11 am - 6 pm.
 

 

New restaurant: The Mockingbird!
121A 12th Avenue N. 615-741-9900. This new dining option offers a playful menu featuring a variety of global fare and comfort food. Hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday, 4 pm - 10 pm and Friday - Saturday, 4 pm - 11 pm.
 

 

New restaurant: Night Train Pizza!
600 9th Avenue S. 615-540-0138. This new restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and serves oven fired pizza plus, salads, starters and desserts. Hours of operation are Sunday - Thursday, 11 am - 11 pm and Friday - Saturday, 11 am - 11 pm.

Better Cities for Pets Kick-off Event

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 9:30 AM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

Did you know we have more than 3,000 dogs in downtown Nashville alone? With so many pets and people who love them, it's time to make Nashville more pet-friendly than ever. That means more pet-friendly places and fewer homeless pets. Mayor Megan Barry, Mars Petcare, the Nashville Downtown Partnership and other partners are joining together to bring more pet-friendly amenities to our city and make it easier than ever for families to welcome a pet into their homes. Find out more at the kick-off event on Thursday, August 24 at 9:30 am at Bridgestone Plaza.

 

Street Food Thursdays

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 9 am - 2 pm on the day of the event.

 

Live on the Green: Spoon

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 6:15 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Enjoy live music outside in Public Square, located in front of the Metro Courthouse! This ninth annual concert series brings local and national artists to the stage. Blankets, folding chairs, strollers and water bottles are welcome at this free four-week concert series. The lineup for Thursday, August 24 includes The Weeks, Portugal. The Man and Spoon as the headliner. $5 parking is available in the Metro Courthouse parking garage, located directly below the park. Or, take advantage of free bicycle parking.‚Äč

- James Robertson Parkway (3rd Avenue North to Courtyard parking entrance): One lane (eastbound traffic) will be closed from 9 am - midnight, with the exception of 4 pm - 6 pm for rush hour
- Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North): Two lanes (westbound traffic) will be closed from 9 am - 11 pm
- Woodland Street Bridge (Union Street to Nissan Stadium parking lots): One lane (westbound traffic) will be closed from 5 pm - 11 pm

Frist Fridays: Nikki Lane & Devon Gilfillian

Friday, August 25 is this year's final concert of the Frist Center's popular summer concert series! Attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of live music by Nikki Lane and Devon Gilfillian, food specials and a cash bar as well as the diverse exhibits on view in the Frist Center’s galleries. With her 2017 LP "Highway Queen," Lane continues to refine her own irresistible brand of audacious country-rock. Fluent in R&B, blues, funk and rock, Gilfillian is also developing his own contemporary rootsy accent, confidently displayed on his self-titled 2016 debut EP. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Frist Fridays take place rain or shine.

Fashion for a Fraction brings Nashville's best designer boutiques together under one roof where fashionistas and bargain hunters alike can take home deeply-discounted apparel, handbags, jewelry, accessories and much more. Plus, food and iced coffee vendors will be on-site for purchase. Very Important Shopper (V.I.S.) tickets are $25 and allow entry at 10 am with a complimentary mimosa.

 

Acme Unplugged: The Voice Edition

Beat Traffic with B-cycle

The best way to buzz through the city and beat traffic is via Nashville B-cycle! Look for the bright red bikes located at 36 B-stations around town. The $5 access pass includes an unlimited number of trips that are 60 minutes or less over a 24-hour period. The 7-day pass is only $10 and an annual membership is $50. TIP: keep all rides under 60 minutes to avoid overage fees. B-cycle has a responsive website and an app.
