Downtown Employee Appreciation Week Continues
Do you work in downtown Nashville? Employee Appreciation Week continues through Friday! Activities that remain include Photo Booth Fun on Thursday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in Fifth Third Plaza and the Preds Lunch Break on Friday from noon to 2 pm in the Bridgestone Arena Plaza. New restaurant - 417 BBQ!
11 Arcade. 615-988-2097. 417 BBQ is located in The Arcade and specializes in pulled pork sandwiches. The sandwiches are served with a variety of side items. This restaurant is a sister restaurant to 417 Union. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 9 am - 2 pm on the day of the event.



Nashville Municipal Auditorium Celebrates 55th Anniversary

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 4:30 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM FREE

Fifty-five years after it hosted its first event—a Church of Christ revival—the Metro-owned Nashville Municipal Auditorium is celebrating the completion of renovations that will help the facility continue to grow with the city. Bob Skoney, the Auditorium’s general manager, will gather on Thursday, September 21 at 4:30 pm with representatives of the Office of Mayor Megan Barry, Metro Council members, representatives of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation, and members of the Metro Auditorium Commission and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the venue and to unveil new renovations.

 

Nashville Brew Fest

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 8 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK $40 GENERAL ADMISSION; $60 VIP

The Nashville Brew Festival will take place on the field and throughout the concourse of First Tennessee Park on Friday, September 22 from 8 pm - 11 pm. The event will feature more than 50 breweries, including Nashville's best local breweries, as well as food trucks, music, lawn games and more. Both general admission ($40) and VIP ($60) will include unlimited beer, with VIP attendees having early admission and access to specialty beer poured during the first hour. Food will be sold separately.

 

The Sleeping Beauty

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, SATURDAY: 2 PM & 7:30 PM; SUNDAY: 2 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $40+

Brimming with enchantment, romance and charm, Nashville Ballet’s season opener ushers in the triumphant return of beloved fairytale "The Sleeping Beauty." Considered to be the most technically challenging piece of classical choreography for the ballerina since its debut in 1890, "The Sleeping Beauty" appeals to connoisseurs and novices alike. All ages will be swept away by the timeless tale of how the villainous Carabosse and noble Lilac Fairy cast dueling spells over Princess Aurora, which can only be broken by a dashing prince's kiss.

 

26th Annual Nashville AIDS Walk & 5K Run

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 8 AM - NOON
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE RUNNERS: $30; WALKERS: FREE

The 26th annual Nashville AIDS Walk & 5K Run raises money and awareness for the fight against HIV and AIDS. This event will include performance awards, post-race nutrition for participants, a community fair and expo, and a free raffle with great prizes. Free registration is available for kids ages 12 and under. Dogs are welcome at this event. This event benefits Nashville CARES. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North) will be closed from 6 am - 11 am on Saturday, September 23. Other downtown closures include Brandon Street (Union Street to 1st Avenue North), 1st Avenue North (Brandon Street to Bank Street), Bank Street (1st Avenue North to Gay Street Connector), Gay Street Connector (Bank Street to Greenway entrance on the left) and 5th Avenue North (Monroe Street to Sounds Stadium Greenway) from approximately 9 am - 10 am on Saturday. Red Bull Flugtag

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 11 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK FREE

Since 1992, Red Bull Flugtag (German: flight day, airshow) has made stops around the world challenging competitors to build and pilot homemade human-powered flying machines. On Saturday, September 23, competitors will take the plunge off the 24-foot high flight deck on the Cumberland River and attempt to break the 258-foot distance record. Please note: road closures associated with this event. 1st Avenue North (northbound lane from Broadway to Church Street) will be closed from Friday, September 22 at 9:30 am until Saturday, September 23 at 6 am. 1st Avenue North (northbound lane from Demonbreun Street to Church Street), Broadway (2nd Avenue to 1st Avenue), Titans Way (Russell Street to Victory Avenue) and Victory Avenue (South 1st Street to Titans Way) will be closed from 6 am - 9 pm on Saturday, September 23.

 

High Hopes & Hops

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
LOCATION: YAZOO BREWING COMPANY AND TAPROOM $30 INDIVIDUAL; $50 COUPLE

Middle Tennessee young professionals can enjoy unlimited Yazoo craft brew, light delicious fare and an incredible silent auction to benefit High Hopes Development Center at the 4th annual High Hopes & Hops event at Yazoo Brewery on Monday, September 25!

 

Hop Slice

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 7 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: HQ BEERCADE NASHVILLE $30

HQ Beercade Nashville will host Hop Slice, where Chicago deep dish meets local beers. Just $30 will get you four pizza slices and five local beers.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Shawn Camp Bluegrass Band

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 11:45 AM - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

The Library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October. Shawn Camp Bluegrass Band will kick off the series on Tuesday, September 26. Camp's guitar and vocals will be joined by Mike Compton on mandolin, Charlie Cushman on banjo, Jimmy Stewart on dobro/vocal and Mike Bub on bass. In addition to being an accomplished instrumentalist, Camp has earned wide respect as the top-tier penman behind No. 1 Billboard hits for George Strait, Josh Turner, and Brooks and Dunn. He is also a talented producer, winning a Grammy nomination in 2013 and a Grammy win for 2014's Best Folk Album of the Year.

 

The AMEND Experience

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 8 AM - 10 AM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

The annual YWCA event is an engaging and informative session that tackles the issue of masculinity in our culture and how it’s related to ending the epidemic of violence against women. The AMEND Experience will celebrate those who are making an impact in the community. Featured speakers include Nashville Predators President & CEO Sean Henry and VP of Wellness & Clinical Services for the NFL Dwight Hollier. The event is sponsored by the Allstate Foundation, Bank of America, Verizon and the Nashville Predators. The event is free and breakfast is included, but registration is required.

 

Tacos for Texas

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: MARTIN'S BAR-B-QUE JOINT $100

Join as Nashvillians come together to raise money for Texas flood relief efforts and those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Guests will enjoy tacos, margaritas, beer and music for a good cause. Raffle tickets and auction items will be on-site as well to raise funds for Texas.

 

Farmhand Dinner 2017

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 6 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE FARMERS' MARKET $100

The Nashville Farmers' Market is celebrating the end of a successful summer with its farmers, friends, families and community members. The 5th annual Farmhand Dinner will offer guests a unique opportunity to learn more about the Nashville Farmers' Market while enjoying a family-style, five-course meal with the men and women who produced it. The Farmhand Dinner features the collective efforts of 14 of the most talented Nashville chefs who will create a casual, yet inspiring Southern meal made with fresh ingredients grown by the Market's local farmers.

 

The DISTRICT's Progressive Party

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The 31st annual Progressive Party begins at Tin Roof Broadway (316 Broadway), continues to FGL House's rooftop (120 3rd Avenue South) and ends at The George Jones Restaurant & Bar (128 2nd Avenue North). The event includes delicious food, libations and music at every stop. Plus, Mayor Megan Barry will present Gary Everton with the Spirit of The DISTRICT Award at 8 pm at FGL House, and there will be an extensive silent auction at The George Jones Restaurant & Bar. Free parking will be provided by SP+ Parking at Commerce Garage A (310 Commerce Street). This event serves as a fundraiser in support of The DISTRICT’s mission and helps fund community projects.

5th Avenue South (Demonbreun Street to Korean Veterans Boulevard) will be closed from 9 am on Wednesday, September 27 until as late as 1 am on Thursday, September 28 due the Angus Beef Street Party (private event). Estimated attendance is 600.
