Interstate 24 Closures: Friday, October 6 - Monday, October 9

TDOT's Interstate 24 Bridge Rehabilitation continues this weekend! I-24 will be closed from the I-40 split east of downtown Nashville to the I-65 split north of downtown Nashville. Traffic will be diverted onto I-65 and I-40. During the closures, drivers should expect congestion on the interstates around downtown Nashville, as well as local routes in the East Nashville area. Closures will begin Friday, October 6 at 8 pm and end Monday, October 9 at 6 am. Nashville Oktoberfest

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8, THURSDAY: 5 PM - 10 PM; FRIDAY & SATURDAY: 10 AM - 10 PM; SUNDAY: 10 AM - 8 PM

The 38th annual Nashville Oktoberfest is four days of celebration for the whole family! This festival includes traditional German music, beer gardens with more than 20 local craft beers, more than 40 restaurants and food truck vendors featuring local and authentic cuisine, more than 150 arts and crafts vendors, a kids' zone with face painting, inflatables and more, a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a parade on Saturday, the 5K Bier Run on Saturday, Nashville's only beer slide and much more. This year's festival has a new location, it will take place on 3rd Avenue North and 6th Avenue North between Jefferson Street and Harrison Street (near First Tennessee Park and Bicentennial Mall).

- 5th Avenue North (Jefferson Street to Harrison Street) will be closed from 6 am on Tuesday, October 3 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- Junior Gilliam Way (5th Avenue North to dead end) will be closed from 6 am on Tuesday, October 3 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- 6th Avenue North (Jefferson Street to Harrison Street) will be closed from 6 am on Wednesday, October 4 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- 4th Avenue North (Jefferson Street to Junior Gilliam Way) will be closed from 6 am on Wednesday, October 4 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- Junior Gilliam Way (3rd Avenue North to dead end) will be closed from 6 am on Wednesday, October 4 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- Westbound lane on Jefferson Street (4th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North) will be closed from 9 am on Friday, October 6 until midnight on Sunday, October 8
- Eastbound lane on Jefferson Street (4th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North) will be closed from 6 pm on Friday, October 6 until midnight on Sunday, October 8

Street Food Thursdays

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Tone It Up Tour

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 4 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK AND ASCEND AMPHITHEATER $110 GENERAL ADMISSION; $220 - $260 VIP

Get ready for the ultimate fitness festival when the Tone It Up Tour stops through Nashville on Thursday, October 5, connecting women locally through workouts, festivities and having the experience of a lifetime. Work out with Tone It Up founders Karena and Katrina as well as special guest Jillian Michaels. In addition to great workouts, this fitness festival will include a braid bar, beauty stations, DIY jewelry, food, rosé, a live DJ and more!

First Saturday Art Crawl

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 6 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 5TH AVENUE OF THE ARTS FREE

Art galleries throughout downtown host receptions and art openings every month. Most galleries serve free wine and other refreshments. Enjoy live music by the Ukedelics and a Nashville Unites photo booth on the performance platforms on 5th Avenue North, Also, live music by Eisenhauer Band, LLC in Fifth Third Plaza. And, a projection art piece above Cashville (236 5th Ave N) by Beau Stantons. See this month's gallery map. Courtyard Concerts: Riders in the Sky

The Library's hit music series continues! Bring a lunch to the courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October. Riders in the Sky will perform on Tuesday, October 10. For 39 years, Riders in the Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, reviving and revitalizing the genre. And while remaining true to the integrity of Western music, they have themselves become modern-day icons by branding the genre with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit. Riders in the Sky are the only exclusively Western artists to have won a Grammy, and they have won two.

 

Nashville Predators vs. Philadelphia Flyers

The Nashville Predators will host the Philadelphia Flyers at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, October 10 at 7 pm during their opening night home game!

 

Tootsie's 57th Birthday Bash

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 11 AM - MIDNIGHT
LOCATION: TOOTSIE'S ORCHID LOUNGE FREE

Tootsie's Orchid Lounge will celebrate its 57th birthday with a free Broadway street party! Terri Clark will perform and host the evening. Plus, Darryl Worley (a longtime Birthday Bash guest) will return to perform along with Tim "The Fiddle Man" Watson, Cole Swindell and more. The all-day street party starts at 11 am and the main acts start at 5 pm. Plus, don't miss the Nashville Predators' player walk at 3:50 pm before they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Bridgestone Arena at 7 pm during their opening night home game! Food for Thought with The Frist

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

In partnership with Vanderbilt University's Office of Community, Neighborhood and Government Relations, the Frist Center presents Food for Thought, a three-part series of lunchtime conversations with Vanderbilt professors, Frist Center curators and other members of the Nashville community. During the first two sessions, panelists will focus on the exhibit "World War I and American Art" and explore how the conflict shaped art as well as global affairs. The last session, inspired by the exhibit "Nick Cave: Feat.," will delve into how contemporary performance art can offer powerful and transformative opportunities for communities. This event is free with advance registration (lunch and gallery admission included).

Every once in a while a Broadway musical comes along that surprises, moves and excites audiences in ways only a truly landmark musical can. The “groundbreaking,” “exquisite" and “unforgettable” new musical "Fun Home" was the event of the Broadway season, receiving raves from critics and audiences alike, winning five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical and making history along the way. Based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir, "Fun Home" introduces us to Alison at three different ages as she explores and unravels the many mysteries of her childhood. A refreshingly honest musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes.

Best Ride on Two Wheels

Get your heart pumping and take advantage of the lovely fall temperatures with Nashville B-cycle! There are over 250 bright red bikes located at 36 B-stations around Nashville. The $5 access pass includes an unlimited number of rides that are 60 minutes or less during a 24 hour period. The 7-day pass is only $10 and an annual membership is $50. TIP: keep all rides under 60 minutes to avoid overage fees. B-cycle has a responsive website and an app.

Clean and Safe Request Form

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, let us know! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items. Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager. Please note: these services are only available in the CBID and the GBID (maps of these areas are provided on the form page).
