Street Food Thursdays

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Event

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: SALSA $25 SUGGESTED DONATION

As the nation honors Hispanic Heritage Month, people in Puerto Rico and Mexico are reeling from the impact of hurricanes and earthquakes. The Metro Council’s Minority Caucus is partnering with the city’s hospitality industry to recognize the contribution of Latinos in our community while raising funds to support people in need. The fundraising event is open to the public, but encourages a $25 donation. The evening will include authentic Puerto Rican dishes. As part of the program, people of Latino descent who are making a difference in the Nashville restaurant industry will be recognized, telling their stories of overcoming great odds to thrive and helping build the city into one of the nation’s most talked-about culinary destinations.

 

Southern Festival of Books

 

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, FRIDAY: NOON - 5 PM; SATURDAY: 10 AM - 6 PM; SUNDAY: NOON - 5 PM
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL BUILDING & LEGISLATIVE PLAZA FREE

Humanities Tennessee's Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written Word is an event that offers readers and writers an opportunity to interact and to create a public community around a festival that promotes and celebrates the joy of reading and lifelong learning. Each year, the festival brings to Nashville approximately 200 of the nation's and region's most prominent authors. Every author on the program takes part in a session, either a solo reading or a panel discussion, followed by a book signing. In addition, the festival hosts popular book exhibits and programs on three performance stages throughout the event. This year's event will take place at War Memorial Building & Legislative Plaza and the Nashville Public Library. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Capitol Boulevard will be closed Wednesday, October 11 through Sunday, October 15. Plus, Church Street (6th Avenue North to 7th Avenue North) will be closed during festival hours (Friday: noon - 5 pm, Saturday: 10 am - 6 pm and Sunday: noon - 5 pm).

 

Walk to End Alzheimer's

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, WALK BEGINS: 8:30 AM
LOCATION: WALK OF FAME PARK FREE

Held in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease. When you participate in this walk, your fundraising dollars fuel the Alzheimer's Association's mission, and your participation in the event helps to change the level of Alzheimer’s awareness in the community. While there is no fee to register, participants are encouraged to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness.

Bacon, Eggs & Kegs

LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK $30

Nashville brunch lovers unite! Bacon, Eggs & Kegs is the perfect celebration for brunch fanatics, local brew lovers and Bloody Mary enthusiasts. This event will feature local beers and ciders, 30-foot Bloody Mary bars, boozy root beer floats, mimosas and more. Pair all your favorite boozy brunch drinks with Nashville's hottest restaurants, chefs and food trucks serving up dishes like fried chicken waffle nuggets, cornbread bacon benedict, biscuits with bacon fat gravy, beer batter flapjacks and more mouthwatering eats. The day wouldn't be complete without lifesize Yahtzee, beer pong, cornhole and live music.

 

Nashville Whiskey Festival

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, 6 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: OMNI NASHVILLE HOTEL $100 GENERAL ADMISSION; $150 VIP

The 6th annual Nashville Whiskey Festival will feature a grand tasting event on Saturday, October 14. The event will include approximately 60 distilleries pouring more than 300 of their finest bottles of whiskey, bourbon, scotch and rye from all over the world. Plus, this event will feature live music, great food, educational seminars and more. VIP tickets include an extra hour of crowd-free tasting and exclusive product pours and swag.

 

The Listening Room Cafe's Grand Opening Celebration

LOCATION: THE LISTENING ROOM CAFE $15 FOR 6 PM & 8:30 PM PERFORMANCES

The Listening Room Cafe recently moved from its old location on 2nd Avenue South to its new location on 4th Avenue South, and they're officially celebrating on Saturday, October 14! The grand opening celebration will be filled with music, drink specials and much more.

 

14th of Yazoo

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14, 11 AM - 11 PM
LOCATION: YAZOO BREWING COMPANY AND TAPROOM FREE

Help Yazoo celebrate their 14th anniversary. Celebration activities will be held inside the taproom, on the patio and in the parking lot. They'll be open extended hours. Activities include brewery tours, outdoor activities for adults and kids, live music from Jillette Johnson at 7:30 pm, and an outdoor screening of the 1980 thriller "Friday the 13th" at 9 pm. They will also serve over ten guest beers from local and regional breweries to raise money for charity, as well as feature a few Pilot Batch releases of their own.

 

Jazz on the Cumberland

 

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, 4:30 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

The sixth season of Jazz on the Cumberland concludes on Sunday, October 15 featuring great live music! Food trucks and concessions open at 3:30 pm, and live jazz is from 4:30 pm - 7 pm. Plus, the event features a kids' zone. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome at this event. $5 parking is available at Nissan Stadium Lots R & T.

 

5th Annual NALS After Hours Silent Auction

 

MONDAY, OCTOBER 16, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CENTER

NALS (the association for legal professionals) will host its 5th annual NALS After Hours Silent Auction event on Monday, October 16 at Waller, located inside Nashville City Center (suite 2600). This event is free and open to the public. As a way for NALS to give back to the community, 100% of the proceeds generated at the auction will be donated to the Tennessee Justice Center.

Join No. 1 best-selling author John Green and special guest Hank Green on tour in support of John’s new novel, "Turtles All the Way Down." In this multimedia event, the brothers will talk about John’s latest book, answer audience questions, perform live music and more. Salon@615 is an ongoing partnership between the Nashville Public Library, the Nashville Public Library Foundation, Parnassus Books, Humanities Tennessee and Bookpage designed to nurture and celebrate the literary life of Nashville by presenting best-selling authors for talks and book signings.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Crackerboots

The Library's hit music series continues! Bring a lunch to the courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres every Tuesday through October. Crackerboots will perform on Tuesday, October 17. Crackerboots is the fusion of two talented songwriter-musicians Luella Wood and Bill DeMain. Already a local sensation in Nashville where they enjoy a successful residency at The Family Wash, Crackerboots has released a debut album featuring top session players including drummer Dave Harrison, bassist Cameron Carrus and multi-instrumentalist Jim Hoke. Drawing on influences from bossa nova and crime jazz to retro soundtracks and rockabilly, Crackerboots delivers a one-of-a-kind style that's familiar but fresh, cool and altogether classic.

 

ALL 4 PAWS Benefit for Humane Society of the US Disaster Relief

Performances by Kid Politics and Second Floor Stereo at this fundraiser for the Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund. Kid Politics is a synth-pop act based who is consistently compared to superstar acts Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic, and Coldplay. Second Floor Stereo is a pop/punk band combining uptempo arrangements with driving electric guitar hooks and catchy, pop-driven choruses. Fanfile TV will broadcast live on Facebook, so share the video to show the Humane Society of the U.S. your support! All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of the United States Disaster Relief Fund. An all-ages show.
