New restaurant: Deacon's New South!
L&C Tower. 401 Church Street. 615-994-1994. Deacon's New South is a modern steakhouse featuring dry-aged steaks, robust vegetables and a sommelier-driven beverage program. Join them for their ribbon-cutting celebration on Wednesday, November 1 at 3 pm. This restaurant serves lunch and dinner from 11 am to 10 pm, Sunday - Thursday and 11 am to 11 pm, Friday - Saturday.
 

Now reopen: Manny's House of Pizza!
15 Arcade. 615-242-7144. After being closed for remodeling, Manny's House of Pizza is now open in The Arcade. A downtown favorite since 1984, this restaurant serves up pizza-by-the-slice, whole pizzas, pasta, calzones and rolls They have altered their hours to 10 am to 6 pm, Monday - Friday.

This event takes place every Thursday. Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

Lizzie Borden

Did she or didn’t she? Viewers will judge for themselves when Lizzie Borden’s real-life double homicide case of 1892 hauntingly unfolds on stage this Halloween. Acquitted for the brutal ax murders of her father and stepmother, Lizzie Borden’s notorious courtroom trial remains one of the most controversial and sensationalized in American history. Nashville Ballet’s gripping interpretation takes audiences into the mind of the woman embroiled in the scandal to show that there may be more to the story than previously thought. "Lizzie Borden" will be complemented by the world premiere of "The Raven," which explores Edgar Allan Poe’s dark poem by blending movement with a classical score and elements of spoken word.

 

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Based on the story by Washington Irving, this version of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is shadow puppetry and storytelling at its best. Please note: this event is not recommended for children under 8 years old.

 

Taste of Nashville 2017

The 17th annual Taste of Nashville fundraising event, hosted by The Phoenix Club of Nashville, is celebrating Music City's love of food and cocktails. The event will feature bites and drinks from some of Nashville’s top restaurants, breweries, distilleries and pastry chefs that make Music City a Southern culinary hub. Along with more than 30 restaurants and bars, you'll enjoy the sounds of local band Them Vibes providing live entertainment. All of the proceeds will benefit The Phoenix Club’s growing list of partner organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of Middle Tennessee, Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee and more.

 

Nashville Zombie Walk

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2 PM - 6:30 PM

It's the return of this free Nashville Halloween tradition! Be a part of the undead horde shambling through three of Nashville's trendy districts. In place of paying a fee to participate in the walk, the event seeks non-perishable food items to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Bring what non-perishable food you can to the starting point for drop off before the walk. The walk begins in the parking lot at the top of the Landport behind Cummins Station at 10th Avenue South and Demonbreun.

 

7th Annual Hands on Creativity

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29, 11 AM - 4 PM
LOCATION: PLAZA ARTIST MATERIALS & PICTURE FRAMING FREE

This is a weekend for artists of all ages and skill levels to learn, create and sample free products! Discover new techniques, create fun make-and-take projects and sample great art products. This year, expert artists will demonstrate everything from pigment markers to screenprinting, acrylic mediums, oil painting and more. Asylum at Alcatraz

Travel off the coast of the San Francisco Bay to the asylum of the abandoned Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary during this Halloween bash on M Street. The George Jones Restaurant is hosting A Nightmare on 2nd Avenue Halloween Party on Saturday, October 28 at 7 pm. They're celebrating with a costume contest, drink specials and no cover! The first place winner of the costume contest will win a $500 prize, and the second place winner will receive a $250 prize. They'll have college football all day, and nightmares all night! DJ Jiffy will be on the rooftop beginning at 9 pm.

 

Nashville First Fall Festival & Classic Car Show

Fall Festival at Nashville First Baptist is a block party of fun for all ages! At noon, toes will be tapping in the fellowship hall with live bluegrass music, cakewalks, bingo, and a grilled hot dog and chili bar lunch (kids under 12 eat free). At 12:30 pm, the fun zone opens with bounce houses, extreme inflatable games, a petting zoo, a mechanical bull, tractor and pony rides, the balloon guy, face painting, and baskets full of candy and prizes. The drive will be decked out for the 3rd annual Nashville First Classic Car Show, McGavock Street will be lined with food trucks benefiting the ministry of Begin Anew and the patio will be set to roast your own s’mores!
