Ready for a better commute? You only have a few days left to let Council know. Years of planning brought us a big, bold transit plan that provides better options for everyone. Voters get to decide only if Metro Council puts the plan on the ballot May 1, 2018. The alternative? Your worst commute today will be your best commute tomorrow. New music venue and bar: Nashville Underground!
105 Broadway. 615-964-3000. Boasting the highest and only double deck rooftop on Lower Broadway, Nashville Underground delivers an intimate experience where you can drink, taste and hear Nashville. The 40,000-square-foot live music venue, restaurant, bar and event space, owned by brothers Joey and Gavin DeGraw, showcases our city's world-famous music, cuisine and spirits. Let Puckett's do the cooking this holiday season! Puckett's is offering pick-up options for Christmas. The menu includes turkey, smoked spiral ham, slow-smoked beef brisket, cherry wood-smoked pulled pork and smoked baby back ribs for the main course; cornbread dressing, homemade rolls, broccoli and rice casserole, and all the other veggies and potato options as side options; and pies and cobblers for dessert. Lunch & Learn: Momentous Conservation Project for the New Tennessee State Museum

There are vast numbers of artifacts in the Tennessee State Museum’s collection that assist its historians in telling the story of our state. A number of those objects will be on view in the new State Museum. Prior to moving into the exhibit space, many of the artifacts require the care of an expert. Join conservator Mark Bynon as he explains the procedures involved in caring for some of the most precious pieces of our history during this lunch and learn.

 

Shop Sip Give Night Market

Relax and unwind at Night Market, a monthly event that takes place on the third Friday at the Nashville Farmers' Market. Enjoy seasonal cocktails, wine, craft beer, local artisan booths, plenty of dinner options from Market restaurants, activities for families, eclectic music and more. Each month highlights different special events, featured artisans and local organizations that are serving our community. This month, Ms. Cheap will be hosting a Penny Drive with Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee. You can help by dropping off your full penny cans or bringing a monetary donation to the market. Since 2009, Ms. Cheap's Penny Drive has raised more than $390,000 for hungry children, families and seniors in our community.

 

Daybreaker Nashville

McKendree Daycare's Caroling on the Stoop

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15, 10:45 AM
LOCATION: MCKENDREE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FREE

Nothing says Christmas like hearing a group of young children sing "Jingle Bells" and "Frosty the Snowman." McKendree Daycare's 2-5 year olds will sing from the church's steps as a way of ushering in the holiday season to the downtown community on Friday, December 15. The short program will last about 20 minutes.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16 - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 17, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM FREE

​Children of all ages are invited to share their Christmas lists with Santa and pose for a free photo. Participants will also receive a commemorative photo holder designed by Hatch Show Print.

Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 17, 4 PM - 5:30 PM

Come and join in this traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols as Christ Church Cathedral traces in music and Scripture the story of prophecy and fulfillment, from the foretelling of the coming of Christ, through Advent and the Annunciation, to the incarnation of God's promise in the birth of the Savior. This event will feature the Cathedral Choir and Senior Choristers under the direction of Dr. Michael Velting, canon for music, and Michael Gebhart, assistant organist and choirmaster.

 

Carol-Candlelight Celebration

The Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra will present Carol-Candlelight Celebration on Sunday, December 17. Exquisite arrangements of familiar carols along with extraordinary holiday classics such as “Here We Come A-Caroling,” “The Snow Lay on the Ground," “A Stable Prayer” and “Go, Tell It on the Mountain” will thrill your heart with the joyous sounds of the season. Childcare is available for children up to 3 years old beginning at 5:30 pm.

 

Free Frist Admission for Second Harvest Food Bank Donations

MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 10 AM - 5:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

The Frist Center will offer free admission on Mondays through December 18 to guests who bring non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Since 2012, Frist Center visitors have donated more than 20,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. The items most needed by Second Harvest are canned chicken, fruit, tuna and vegetables, cereal, pasta and peanut butter.

During Bridgestone Arena events, park for free at Nissan Stadium Lot R. Optional round-trip shuttle service is $3 per person with a convenient drop-off point near the arena. Click here for details. (Tip: You don't have to attend an event at Bridgestone to use this service. However, the free parking is only available on the stated event dates).

Convention Update
