New restaurant: Woolworth on 5th!
221 5th Avenue North. 615-891-1361. The Woolworth building is a registered historic site as part of the Fifth Avenue Historic District in downtown Nashville. One of the original "five and dime" stores, F. W. Woolworth became the site of some of the first lunch counter sit-ins during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement in Nashville. Woolworth on 5th honors the history of this space by serving as a welcome table for all – an upbeat atmosphere with food, music, and dancing that everyone can enjoy. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday, 7 am - 10 pm; Friday, 7 am - 11 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am - 11 pm; and Sunday, 9:30 am - 10 pm.

Secrets of Goo Goo Chocolate Class

Make all your chocolate dreams come true by joining Goo Goo for a fun and insightful evening at the Goo Goo Shop & Dessert Bar. In the “Secrets of Goo Goo” class, you’ll concept and create your very own custom Goo Goo, learn a secret recipe from the Dessert Bar and make a decadent treat to take home with you, plus walk through a guided tasting of wines and chocolate. Tansuo New Year Celebration

In honor of China's most important festival, Morph Hospitality's contemporary Chinese restaurant will offer dinner specials and customary festivities on Friday, February 16, including Lion Dancers and a night market-inspired party with complimentary entertainment, dim sum and drinks.

Relax and unwind at Night Market, a monthly event that takes place on the third Friday at the Nashville Farmers' Market. Enjoy seasonal cocktails, wine, craft beer, local artisan booths, plenty of dinner options from Market restaurants, activities for families, eclectic music and more. Each month highlights different special events, featured artisans and local organizations that are serving our community. This month's nonprofit partner is the American Heart Association. 

 

Alzheimer's Early Stage Social Engagement

 

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS FREE

The Frist Center for the Visual Arts has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association Mid South Chapter to provide exhibition tours to those in early stages of dementia and their caregivers. This program gives those affected by the disease an expressive outlet and forum for dialogue through guided exhibition tours, social interaction, art-making activities and free lunch. This is a FREE event and lunch, space is limited. LEGO Competition 2018

LOCATION: NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FREE

View all of the 2018 LEGO contest entries at the Nashville Public Library on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18. This annual contest allows participants of all ages to use their skills to build their most creative LEGO designs. The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday at 3 pm.

 

Fight for Air Climb

 

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 8 AM
LOCATION: FIFTH THIRD CENTER $35 REGISTRATION FEE; $100 FUNDRAISING MINIMUM

The American Lung Association in Tennessee is hosting its sixth annual Fight for Air Climb on Saturday, February 17 at the Fifth Third Center. This unique and signature competitive stair climb challenges you to complete the 29 floors of the building, all 638 steps. Through the climb, you will support its mission to fight to end lung disease and to climb for those who cannot. All of the proceeds support its local Nashville programs that assist with smoking cessation, asthma education, pulmonary research grants and local lung disease support.

 

Nashville Hot Chocolate 15K & 5K Road Race

 

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 7:40 AM - 11 AM

The best goodie bags in running, free instantaneous race photos and scrumptious post-race treats are just three reasons you’ll want to sign up for RAM Racing's 4th annual Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Race in Nashville. The popular USATF-certified event hits Nashville starting at Bicentennial Mall State Park on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Whether you are a serious or recreational runner, you'll score Hot Chocolate's award-winning and always impressive race swag (this time it's a quarter-zip long sleeve technical jacket). Then, after crossing the finish line where a city specific medal and key chain await you, racers are rewarded with a mug loaded with fondue and hot chocolate, pretzels, Rice Krispie Treats, cookie straws and bananas. Wine in the Winter

 

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 4 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: HILTON NASHVILLE DOWNTOWN $69 IN ADVANCE; $75 DAY OF EVENT

The 3rd Annual Wine in the Winter is modeled after its sister event, Wine on the River. Attendees will be able to take a break from the cold and sample more than 30 wine, beer and spirits in a Winter Wonderland setting in the heart of downtown. Wine in the Winter was a sell out in 2017, so grab your tickets while they last.

 

Pizza & Painting Valentine's Day Edition: Love Birds

 

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, NOON - 3 PM
LOCATION: DABBLE STUDIO $60/SEAT

Learn basic knife and cooking skills from Dabble's fun and fantastic chef, then create your own masterpiece of Love Birds as an artist instructs you step-by-step while your custom hand-made pizza is in the oven! Share The Love Beer Dinner: The Chef and I on Ninth

The Chef and I on Ninth has teamed up with Starr Hill Brewery to put on a one-of-a-kind experience. Their brewers and executive chefs have paired their beer and food for the ultimate beer dinner in town! The doors open at 5:30 pm and dinner starts at 6 pm. Tickets include beer and food, and there is a cash bar available with other drink options. Starr Hill brewers will discuss their product and distribute samples all night long.

After two years as a financial analyst at Bain Capital, Mike Lewis quit his job and joined a professional squash team. In doing so, he became inspired by others pursuing their dreams and started “When To Jump,” a global community dedicated to exploring the fundamental question: When is the right time to pursue what you really want to do with your life? Lewis's recent book, “When To Jump: When the Job You Have Isn’t the Life You Want,”  features a forward by Sheryl Sandberg and was recently rated 3rd on Business Insider’s “Business Books Everyone Will Be Reading in 2018” list.
