2018 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament

Curator's Tour: Rome: City and Empire

THURSDAY, MARCH 1, NOON
LOCATION: FRIST CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS MUSEUM ADMISSION REQUIRED

Rome: City and Empire tells the story of how Rome grew on an unprecedented scale from a series of small villages into a mighty empire. Each object illuminates not only the rich history of the Roman Empire, but also the stories of Rome’s diverse peoples. Join Frist Center chief curator Mark Scala as he highlights key works from the collection of more than two hundred works from the British Museum.

 

Celebrate Holi

THURSDAY, MARCH 1
LOCATION: CHAUHAN ALE & MASALA HOUSE

Known as the Festival of Colors, Holi signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and a time to celebrate with music, dancing, bright colors and delicious food. Street Eats

THURSDAY, MARCH 1, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event. NOTE: as of March 1 the food trucks will return to Deaderick from 11 am to 2 pm every Tuesday and Thursday through December 13. This event is now called Street Eats and was formerly called Street Food Thursdays.

 

Downtown Dribble

SATURDAY, MARCH 3, 2 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA FREE

The Downtown Dribble is an event for children ages 5-14 years old. Participants will receive a basketball and a free event t-shirt at registration, then will dribble a short route around Bridgestone Arena prior to the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament Semi-Finals. Check-in and t-shirt/basketball pick up begins at noon outside of Bridgestone Arena, on the plaza. The Downtown Dribble will start at 2 pm. Please note: road closure associated with this event. The following streets will be closed on Saturday, March 3 from 1:45 pm - 3:15 pm: Broadway from 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue; 7th Avenue from Broadway to Demonbreun; Demonbreun from 5th Avenue to 7th Avenue; and 5th Avenue from Demonbreun to Broadway.

 

24th Annual Gupton Jeep Tom King Classic Half Marathon & 5K Run

SATURDAY, MARCH 3, HALF MARATHON: 8 AM; 5K: 8:15 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM HALF MARATHON: $85; 5K: $40

The Tom King Classic half marathon and 5K races are back for their 24th year! Click here for the half marathon route map, and click here for the 5K route map. Please note: road closures associated with this event. The courses begin and end at Nissan Stadium, traveling out of downtown. Closures begin as early as 6 am and end as late as noon on Saturday, March 4 along the roads in the above route maps. Estimated attendance is 1,200 people.

 

First Saturday Art Crawl

In support of the recently fallen police officers Anthony Morelli and Eric Joering of Westerville, OH, Mr. Jeff Ruby is holding a fundraiser dinner at the Jeff Ruby's restaurants in Nashville, Columbus, Cincinnati and Louisville. On Sunday, March 4, 100% of purchases from the evening across all four restaurants will go to a fund benefiting the officers' families. Reservations can be made in advance online or via phone.

Please note the following road closures for the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Expo at the Music City Center. As North America’s largest indoor-outdoor products show, HPBExpo will attract over 400 exhibitors and more than 8,000 attendees to downtown Nashville. Please note: road closures associated with this private event. 5th Avenue from Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun will be closed from Thursday, March 1 at 8 am until Tuesday, March 13 at 5 pm.
