THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 11 AM - 2 PM AND TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North! Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event. NOTE: the food trucks will return to Deaderick from 11 am to 2 pm every Tuesday and Thursday through December 13. This event is now called Street Eats and was formerly called Street Food Thursdays.

 

Waitress - Search for Lulu

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 10 AM - NOON & 1 PM - 3 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) will host auditions on March 10 to select two local girls to perform the role of “Lulu” in Waitress, the Tony Award-nominated hit Broadway musical which makes its Nashville debut with a one-week engagement at TPAC’s Andrew Jackson Hall June 5 - 10. The “Search for Lulu” will take place in TPAC’s Andrew Johnson Theater on Saturday, March 10, from 10 am to noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. The audition consists of each child reading two lines from the show. If possible, parents should bring a current headshot and resume for the child. Headshot, resume, and prior acting experience are not required.Space is limited to the first 50 applicants who sign up at this link. Qualified young actresses should be shorter than 4’2” and no older than 5 years and 3 months.

A Neighbors House Party 2: The Party Continues

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 6 PM - 9:30 PM
LOCATION: YAZOO BREWING COMPANY AND TAPROOM $15 - $20

On March 11, Neighbors will again host "A Neighbors House Party" at Yazoo Brewing Company. Host Jakob Lewis will lead a night of group singing, featuring special appearances by your favorite Neighbors subjects, as well as the WPLN personalities you've come to love. There will be juggling, beer, improv, and singing — all to connect you with your neighbors and the voices at Nashville Public Radio, while having a great time. Jakob and his band The Live Oak Long Pickers — will lead everyone in traditional pub songs, sea shanties, pop hits and karaoke favorites. Come hungry! The Grilled Cheeserie will be at the event with food for sale.

 

Lunch & Learn: Mortimer May, a Tennessee Holocaust Hero

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 15, 12:15 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM FREE

In partnership with the arrival of the “Violins of Hope” project in Nashville, the Tennessee State Museum will feature a presentation by Nashville native, Jack May. He will speak on the heroism and legacy of his uncle Mortimer May, a prominent business owner in Nashville who traveled to Europe in the 1930's to help Jews escape rising Nazi tyranny and anti-Semitism. The Lunch & Learn will also provide a special opportunity to view a Tennessee State Museum artifact connected with Jewish survivors’ immigration to Nashville: a crate belonging to the Srul Kapusta family, shipped from Czechoslovakia to the National Council of Jewish Women in Nashville after World War II. The Nashville chapter of the Council was one of many organizations across the country charged with resettling Holocaust refugees. Museum curator Candace J. Adelson, Ph.D., will be on hand to discuss the crate, which will be on display at the Museum from March 9 to 18.

Road Closures: Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association

Please note the following road closures for the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Expo at the Music City Center. As North America’s largest indoor-outdoor products show, HPBExpo will attract over 400 exhibitors and more than 8,000 attendees to downtown Nashville. Please note: road closures associated with this private event. 5th Avenue from Korean Veterans Boulevard to Demonbreun will be closed from Thursday, March 1 at 8 am until Tuesday, March 13 at 5 pm. Clean and Safe Request Form

If you notice something amiss while walking downtown, let us know! Report graffiti that needs to be removed, public sidewalks that need pressure washing, weeds, trash and other unsightly items. Use this form to send a request directly to our Clean and Safe Team manager. Please note: these services are only available in the CBID and the GBID (maps of these areas are provided on the form page).
