My So-Called Band: Jump Around! The Ultimate 90s St. Patrick's Party

SATURDAY, MARCH 17, 9:30 PM

Hip-hop boldly reinvented itself - nothing will ever top Biggie, Tupac or the magical combo of Dr. Dre & Snoop Dog. En Vogue, R. Kelly & Aaliyah took mainstream R&B far beyond anything we’d heard before. From Ace of Base to Britney and Mariah, the 90’s wrote the pop perfection blueprint that is still being used today. These were the years of alternative rock radio’s time in the sun - Green Day, The Cranberries & Third Eye Blind ruled the airwaves, while Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails & Red Hot Chili Peppers raged against the machine. Their Starting Five play/have played for such acts as Ben Folds, The Pink Spiders, Tristen, The Privates, Lifeboy, De Novo Dahl, Feeble Weiner, Hotpipes & many, many others, as well as working with producers Ric Ocasek, Jerry Harrison, Roger Moutenot, Dave Fridmann, Matt Mahaffey, etc. Rotating in and out of the game, previous and current special guest performers have worked with Wanda Jackson, Deer Tick, The Nobility, Johnny Corndawg (Johnny Fritz), Caitlin Rose, Wild Cub, etc.

Beer & Hymns: St. Patrick's Pub Sing

SATURDAY, MARCH 17, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: MERCY LOUNGE $10 - $15

You bond with people you sing with; let us gather. Sing music that is old, or seems like it could be, or undoubtedly one day will be. The stuff is lovingly curated, pre-selected, and laid out in advance. The point is: songs a group can sing as one - and sing well. These are all printed up for everyone's convenience in a custom booklet. The leaders lead, but all take breaks ever so often to re-load our cups. Then more singing – and it's done a cappella. Mostly. Or with light touches on acoustic-y instruments. The goal is a public, night-time croon in the manner of better pubs of London, Belfast, or Dublin.
