Flat Iron Maiden: An All-Ladies Eighties Benefit for End Slavery Tennessee

WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 8 PM
LOCATION: MERCY LOUNGE $10- $12

Mercy Lounge will feature over 20 female artists playing 80's music all night to benefit putting an end to slavery in Tennessee. Flat Iron Maiden: An All-Ladies Eighties Benefit for End Slavery Tennessee will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at 8 pm. Some of the featured artists include Nikita Karmen, Nicole Boggs, Tiffany Goss, Sam Stephens, and many more.

 

Gulch Night Market

THURSDAY, MAY 17, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH FREE

Experience the Gulch Night Market on every third Thursday in May, June and July. Each evening will host an exciting mix of local artisans, food and drink vendors and live music to create a unique experience in the heart of the Gulch. This is a pet friendly event. Gulch Night Market will take place at the corner of 11th Ave South & Laurel St. 

 

Green Tie Affair: A Night of Excellence with Caring

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 7 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY - AVON WILLIAMS CAMPUS $60

Join The Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Florida A&M University Alumni Association for their scholarship gala where the fashion, food and music will make for an excellent time. A portion of the proceeds are tax deductible and limited tickets are available.

 

Crossing the Cumberlands: Rare and Beautiful Music

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 7 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: TPAC - TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER $29.50

Grammy-stocked host musicians include Jerry Douglas, Alan O’Bryant, and Stuart Duncan, among Nashville’s greatest string heroes. The Hicks Family is celebrated with a monument at Nashville's Bicentennial Capitol Mall. They bring authentic songs from the frontier period, including a gripping ballad from 1789 Nashville. Scotty Anderson reaches the frontiers of mountain jazz and rockabilly with incomparable technique, recognized as one of the best. This two-hour festival has many more performers including Thomm Jutz, Leroy Troy, Wade Hill, Mike Fain, John Gardner, Corbin Hayslett, Trenton Caruthers, Jordan Hughett, and Buddy Ingram.

 

Tour de Nash

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 7:30 AM - 4 PM

The Tour de Nash is Nashville's largest urban bike ride and has been organized for the past 13 years by Walk Bike Nashville to encourage people to explore Nashville's best bikeways and roads by bicycle. The 2018 tour will feature three routes: an 8-mile family ride, a 25-mile ride and a 45-mile ride. The rides will start and end at Morgan Park (north of downtown), but a large portion of the rides go through downtown. The new Tour De Nash Market will take place from 9 am - 4 pm that day at the start and finish line.

 

Royal Wedding Brunch

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 6 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: THE PUB NASHVILLE

You are cordially invited to a royal brunch celebrating the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Pub Nashville will open at 6 am for the ceremony and televised events. Drink specials include $3.25 Old Speckled Hen, brunch, themed cocktails, festivities, raffles and giveaways.

 

Big Guitar Brewfest

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 5 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: FIRST TENNESSEE PARK $40 GENERAL ADMISSION; $55 FOR VIP

The Nashville Sounds welcome beer lovers to First Tennessee Park for their annual Big Guitar Brewfest presented by Puckett's Grocery on Saturday, May 19. From 5 pm - 8 pm, over 50 local and craft breweries will be on hand for beer connoisseurs. Tickets to the event cost $40 for general admission and $55 for VIP. 

 

Tennessee Titans 5k Run/Walk

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 8 AM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM $50 - $60

The Tennessee Titans welcome fans of all abilities to join the annual Tennessee Titans 5k Run/Walk. Pull out that jersey, lace up your running shoes and register to show your team's spirit on Saturday, May 19. The race will begin at Nissan Stadium, run through downtown and end right on the field. Run with some of your favorite Titans players and coaches and enjoy appearances by Titans cheerleaders and T-Rac. Enjoy post-race refreshments and an awards ceremony. All registrations include a commemorative t-shirt and a ticket for a 2018 home game (Colts, Jaguars or Texans). Please note: road closures associated with this event. Korean Veterans Boulevard (eastbound lanes only from South 2nd Street to 1st Avenue South), 1st Avenue South (Korean Veterans Boulevard to Broadway), Broadway (1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue), 2nd Avenue North (Broadway to Union Street), Union Street (3rd Avenue North to 1st Avenue North), Woodland Street Bridge and surrounding Nissan Stadium streets will be closed as early as 7:30 am until as late as 9:15 am on Saturday, May 19. Click here to view the course. Complimentary parking in Nissan Stadium lots A, B, C and D.

 

Yoga Buzz

SATURDAY, MAY 19, 10 AM
LOCATION: ACME FEED & SEED $10

Summer weather has arrived and that means Sanctuary for Yoga and Acme Feed & Seed are ready to bring back the rooftop Yoga Buzz series. Experienced, casual, and newbie yogis are all invited to enjoy a yoga class on Acme’s sunny rooftop every first and third Saturday of the month at 10 am. After class, hang out on the rooftop to enjoy drink specials that enhance your post-yoga glow, or head down to Acme’s first floor to enjoy brunch.

With the growing frequency of volatile situations that affect you in the current society, it is important that you know how you can protect yourself. This seminar will enable persons to develop an effective plan to use at home, church, school and in the community. Experts from the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security will present strategies to use when threats are posed by individuals who carry out acts of violence, along with information that addresses intervention needed and how to respond to the situation. This seminar is free and open to the public.

TUESDAY, MAY 22, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Tuesday and Thursday! The trucks serve lunch from 11 am to 2 pm. The food truck line-up is usually posted herePlease note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Martin ArtQuest Grand Reopening

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 3 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: FRIST ART MUSEUM

Join the Frist Art Museum to celebrate the reopening of their beloved art-making gallery. Martin ArtQuest will open to the community at 3 pm, with free admission to all galleries through 9 pm. A special thanks to the Frist Foundation, the James Stephen Turner Family Foundation, the Hearst Foundation, Corner Partners, the William Stamps Farish Fund, and visitors of all ages for their financial support of the renovation.
