401 Union Street. 615-988-8511. This new hotel at the corner of 4th and Union has 81 guest rooms. Check out their midcentury modern lobby and the restaurants on site. New businesses inside the Fairlane include their deli: Mile End Delicatessen and their coffee shop: Union Teller Coffee Counter.

Martin ArtQuest Grand Reopening

Join the Frist Art Museum to celebrate the reopening of their beloved art-making gallery. Martin ArtQuest will open to the community at 3 pm, with free admission to all galleries through 9 pm. A special thanks to the Frist Foundation, the James Stephen Turner Family Foundation, the Hearst Foundation, Corner Partners, the William Stamps Farish Fund, and visitors of all ages for their financial support of the renovation.

 

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire™ in Concert

Bike to Work Day

 

FRIDAY, MAY 25, 7:45 AM
LOCATION: CUMBERLAND PARK FREE

Celebrate Bike to Work Day in Nashville on Friday, May 25. As part of Nashville Bike Month, Walk Bike Nashville invites bike commuters, curious and seasoned alike, to meet up at several locations around town and ride with each other on their way to work. Breakfast will be served at Cumberland Park from 7:45 am - 8:30 am along with a short celebration. Don't own a bike? Use Nashville B-cycle to ride to work! Everyone is encouraged to use alternative transportation to get to work on Friday.

 

Start at the End: The Spiritual Impact of U2 in Apocalyptic Times

 

FRIDAY, MAY 25, 3 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: MCKENDREE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FREE

For close to 40 years now the Irish rock band U2 have been creating music infused with Christian and religious imagery and political commentary and protest. McKendree UMC is hosting a special afternoon and evening event on Friday, May 25 to foster discussion around the interaction of popular culture and Christian faith in downtown Nashville, the day before U2 plays at the Bridgestone Arena. The event will begin Friday afternoon at 3 pm and will run until about 8 pm and will feature times of communal sharing and worship, open conversations and dialogues around faith and popular culture, music and singing, and a special guest message.

 

3rd Annual Music City Jazz Festival

Music City Jazz Festival is the place to people watch, eat, drink, mingle hear music performed by national recording smooth jazz artists. This festival at Public Square features veterans who have set the standard to young lions taking the jazz scene by storm, all capturing the spirit of smooth jazz that knows no boundaries in exhilarating, intimate performances. Bring a chair and a blanket, and sit back and relax to smooth jazz performed by some of the best musicians around. The lineup includes Boney James, Rachelle Ferrell, Euge Groove, Hiroshima, Maysa and many more.

Kick off the official start of summer on Acme’s rooftop! They're living for the weekend now with their killer back to back to back parties. Acme Feed & Seed's Memorial Day Weekend schedule includes Acme WKNDR, Summer Edition on Friday, May 25 with Acme Radio Live DJs spinning jams on the rooftop from 3 pm - 7 pm. Saturday, May 26 is Acme Islander with tropical vibes and reggae hits on the rooftop from 3 pm - 8 pm. And, Champagne Jam on Sunday, May 27. Spend Sunday Funday at Acme on the rooftop with specials on bubbles from 2 pm - 7 pm.

Play Like a Girl

Young aspiring female baseball and softball players will have the opportunity to work with and learn from the Nashville Sounds players and AJ Andrews, pro softball outfielder and first woman to receive the Rawling’s Gold Glove award, at this year’s Play Like a Girl Skills Clinic.

 

U.S. Air Guitar Southern Regionals

 

SATURDAY, MAY 26, 7 PM - MIDNIGHT
LOCATION: HIGH WATT AT MERCY LOUNGE $10

Tennessee’s best air guitarists will battle it out to find which of them will represent Nashville in the US Air Guitar Championship! Part rock show. Part comedy act. Part spectacle. US Air Guitar allows ordinary people to become rock stars. Up to 20 competitors will perform their best air guitar performances, being judged on technical merit, stage presence, and airness, to crown one winner. The winner will move on to the national championships held in NYC.

 

Issa Wrap: End of the School Year Bash

 

SUNDAY, MAY 27, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: 12TH & PORTER FREE

Calling all Teens! Come join Fresh Empire on Sunday, May 27 at 12th & Porter for the Issa Wrap: End of the School Year Bash. Celebrate Memorial Weekend the right way at the hottest teen event to hit the city. Teens get in free with RSVP courtesy of Fresh Empire. There will be music and fresh giveaways. Win a chance for meet & greet, a live DJ, and fun at the only teen event in the city!

 

Street Eats

 

TUESDAY, MAY 29, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Tuesday and Thursday! The trucks serve lunch from 11 am to 2 pm. This event is now called Street Eats and was formerly called Street Food Thursdays. The food truck line-up is usually posted herePlease note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (4th Avenue North to 5th Avenue North) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

Park for only $5 weeknights after 6 pm and all day Saturday or Sunday at the Metro Courthouse Garage. Or, pay only $10 after 5 pm on weeknights or all day Saturday or Sunday at the Library Garage.
