Movie Night at Public Square

THURSDAY, JULY 19, FUN STARTS AT 6 PM; MOVIE AT SUNDOWN
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Join us for Movie Night at Public Square during select Thursday nights this summer. The line-up is: Space Jam (July 19), A Christmas Story (July 26), and Remember the Titans (August 2). Feel free to bring: picnic blankets, folding chairs, dinner/snacks, and dogs on leashes. The fun starts at 6 pm with giant lawn games, food trucks, frozen treats for sale for $1 and more. The movie will start at sundown each night. Parking is only $5 in the Metro Courthouse Garage. The food trucks for Thursday, July 19 are Roscoe's BBQ and M.L.Rose.

 

Adult Recess

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 11 AM - 2 PM
LOCATION: PUBLIC SQUARE FREE

Take a break and get outside this summer for Adult Recess at Public Square! On Thursdays, bring your lunch from home, your favorite downtown restaurant or from one of the Street Eats food trucks on Deaderick. There will be plenty of tables and chairs located in the shade. Frozen treats and bottles of water will be for sale for $1. Join the fun! Enjoy a game or two of ping pong, foosball, giant lawn games like Jenga, Connect 4, chess, checkers, dominoes, and many more. Feel like a kid again on your lunch break!

 

Street Eats

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday! The trucks serve lunch from 11 am to 2 pm. The food truck line-up is usually posted here. Walk one block over to Public Square and enjoy your food at one of the many tables and chairs provided at Adult Recess. While there play a game or two of giant Jenga, chess, checkers, Connect 4, foosball, ping pong and many more games! Please note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Gulch Night Market

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 5 PM - 9 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH FREE

This summer, experience the Gulch Night Market monthly in May, June and July. Each evening will host an exciting mix of local artisans, food and drink vendors and live music to create a unique experience in the heart of the Gulch. This is a pet friendly event. Gulch Night Market will take place at the corner of 11th Ave South & Laurel St. 

 

Latte Art Throwdown

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 5 PM - 10 PM
LOCATION: JACKALOPE BREWING COMPANY $5 PER COMPETITOR

Join Jackalope for the 3rd annual Three Brothers Coffee Anniversary Throwdown! They celebrated their first year of business with a Thursday Night Throwdown in July 2016 and it turned out to be a way bigger success than anticipated. The competition will be capped at 32 competitors, who will win lots of fun prizes from Espresso Parts, Acaia, Aeropress, Third Wave Water, Friendly Arctic, Climb Nashville, Bongo Java, Chemex, Barista Magazine, Cumberland Transit and more. Jackalope Brewing Company will be slinging beers and That's My Dawg food truck will be out front. Bring whoever you'd like - it's a family event, and all are welcome.

 

Girls Rule the Roost

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 7 PM
LOCATION: ACME FEED & SEED $10

Head to the rooftop of Acme Feed & Seed for a tribute concert to women by women. The evening is curated by The Toppettes (of the Music City Toppers) and will feature an opening act by Southern Girls Rock Camp, followed by performances by Alannna Royale, Jess Nolan, Kyshona Armstrong, Rachel Solom, Nickie Conley and more. A portion of ticket sales and $1 of every drink will be donated to Southern Girls Rock Camp.

 

Jumper Maybach: The Pride Collection: Introspection

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 5:30 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: MARY HONG GALLERY

LGBT artist and philanthropist Jumper Maybach will unveil a timely and important new series of works celebrating gay pride in Nashville. The series titled The Pride Collection: INTROSPECTION will be on exhibition and available for acquisition July 3 - July 31 at Mary Hong Gallery. A special artist reception is planned for Thursday, July 19 from 5:30 pm - 8 pm at the gallery. Maybach is one of the most acclaimed LGBT fine artists of this generation, having exhibited works globally in Venice, Art Dubai and Galerie du Louvre in Paris.

 

Rockin' on the Rooftop

THURSDAY, JULY 19, 6 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: DOWNTOWN YMCA FREE

Join the Downtown Y on Thursday, July 19 for complimentary appetizers, mocktails, games and music by Gable Bradley. Enjoy their rooftop pool and downtown skyline view. Lightning 100, Team Lightning, Demos' Restaurant and Smoothie King will also be at the event. Bring a friend and try out the Y's rooftop!

 

Walk Bike Nashville's 20th Birthday Party

FRIDAY, JULY 20, 7 PM - 10 PM

Walk Bike Nashville is turning 20, so they're having a party! They will be celebrating the success of the organization over the last 20 years and looking forward to the next 20, all while enjoying beautiful waterfront views in downtown Nashville. Join in for live music from The Nashville Blast and The Barton Brothers, drinks, and Hors d'oeuvres at the lovely 222 Second Avenue South Building, designed by Gresham, Smith and Partners.

 

Shake Shack Pop-Up

SATURDAY, JULY 21, 11 AM - 3 PM

If you’re driving past the Hill Center in Green Hills, it’s almost impossible not to at least sneak a peek on the progress of Nashville’s impending first location of the iconic New York chain Shake Shack. They’re planning an August opening for the outpost of the wildly popular burger joint, known for “100 percent all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs (no hormones or antibiotics – ever), fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle‚Äźcut fries, craft beer, wine and more.” If you just can’t wait another month, the folks at Shake Shack have teamed up with chef Sean Brock's Husk on Rutledge Hill, where they will offer a little sneak preview as part of a pop-up event on Saturday, July 21. The event at will run from 11 am - 3 pm., but guests can choose between two time slots to attend: 11 am - 1 pm, or 1 pm to 3 pm. Free parking will be provided on the public streets near Husk and at the nearby Nashville Children’s Theater parking lot. Once you’re in the door, you can enjoy food, games, a selection of  Shake Shack swag, and live music. Tickets include admission and lunch: a ShackBurger or ’Shroom Burger, fries, local beer or wine, and a special collaboration dessert created by Husk and Shake Shack. Grab your ticket here.

 

Music City Triathlon

SATURDAY, JULY 21, 7 AM
LOCATION: EAST BANK LANDING $100 - $225

The 10th annual Music City Triathlon returns to Nashville on Saturday, July 21. Swim the Cumberland River (1.5K), bike through East Nashville on a completely closed and traffic-free Ellington Parkway (45K) and run on a flat course (10K). Not ready for the whole thing? Relay teams, the Aquabike category (swimming and biking only) or the Cyclorun category (biking and running only) are also options. Or, cheer on participants as they make their way along the course. Please note: road closures associated with this event. Downtown closures include Victory Avenue (South 1st Street to Titans Way), Titans Way (Victory Avenue to Russell Street), Russell Street (Titans Way to South 1st Street) and South 1st Street (Victory Avenue running south of downtown) will be closed as early as 5 am until as late as 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 21. The remaining road closures do not affect downtown.

 

TN Can Ruck

SATURDAY, JULY 21, 2 PM - 8 PM
LOCATION: JACKALOPE BREWING COMPANY FREE

TN Can Ruck is a unique team event that lets you experience some of Nashville's finest watering holes and give back to the community at the same time. Right now, select bars and breweries across Nashville are collecting non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. On July 21, join in to trek 10 miles across the city, stopping at each location for drinks and loading up donations in your rucksacks to carry to your last stop - the Second Harvest warehouse. 

 

Big Sam’s Funky Nation

Americana at the Ryman: Jim Lauderdale, William Fitzsimmons & The Secret Sisters

Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium is hosting a new annual series this summer. "Americana at the Ryman" will celebrate American roots music with talent-packed shows throughout July and August. This show features Jim Lauderdale, William Fitzsimmons and The Secret Sisters.

 

 

River On The Rooftop

MONDAY, JULY 23, NOON
LOCATION: JASON ALDEAN'S KITCHEN + ROOFTOP BAR FREE

iHeartMedia’s 107.5 The River, Nashville’s Number 1 Hit Music Station, announced today the all-star lineup for its annual River on the Rooftop concert series presented by FreelandAuto.com. The events will be hosted at a brand new venue, Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar at 311 Broadway. The free three-part concert series, with dates on June 11, June 25 and July 23, will feature performances from Bebe Rexha, Alessia Cara, Maren Morris, Bazzi, MAX, Madison Beer, Cash Cash, The Vamps, and Loote, with more performers to be announced at a later date. All shows are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis until the rooftop patio is at capacity. The Minimalists: Simply Southern Tour with Special Guest Rachel Cruze

Join The Minimalists for a night of less. They will host a live version of The Minimalists Podcast with special guest Rachel Cruze, author of "Love Your Life, Not Theirs." Together they will discuss minimalism, decluttering, family, budgeting, and finances, and they will answer audience questions. Special musical guest Canyon City will open the show.
