New restaurant and bar: Luke's 32 Bridge Food + Drink!
301 Broadway. This new honky tonk at the corner of 3rd and Broadway is having a grand opening celebration on Monday, September 10 with a street concert by the bar's owner, Luke Bryan. Hours of operation for this new bar and restaurant are Monday - Friday, 11 am - 3 am and Saturday - Sunday, 10 am - 3 am.

Nashville House Concerts

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 7 PM
LOCATION: WAR MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM $30

Nashville House Concerts, a live music and variety show at the historic War Memorial Auditorium, returns for a second 10-show season starting Thursday, September 6 at 7 pm. This series will continue the first Thursday of every month through June 2019. Storme Warren, a 25-year veteran of the Nashville music industry who hosts the morning show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s "The Highway" will return as host of Nashville House Concerts, inviting a variety of special guests to drop by the intimate, living room set, catch up on what’s new, and perform select songs. Guest artists on September 6 are Shelly Fairchild, Chris Roberts, Thompson Square, Freddy Jones Band and Abe Stoklasa.

 

Music with a Mission

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CENTER FREE

Music with a Mission is a free, weekly concert hosted by Alliance Partners LLC HSP on Nashville City Center's outdoor plaza. Every Thursday, downtown employees, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy live music from up-and-coming local artists. Also, food for sale from a variety of local vendors each week. Anthony Snape will perform on September 6. Anthony is an Australian artist who has toured internationally and frequently collaborated with guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel. Anthony co-wrote and recorded the Sydney 2000 Olympic games theme song for the official National Radio Network.

 

27 Live at L27 Rooftop Lounge

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 7 PM - 11 PM
LOCATION: L27 ROOFTOP LOUNGE FREE

Located on the rooftop of The Westin Nashville, L27 is hosting a live music concert series, 27 Live, to occur the first Thursday of the month from May through October. Featuring one DJ and one musical artist performing at each event, the evening will begin at 7 pm. The series is free to the public, but space is limited. Alanna Royale will perform on Thursday, September 6.

 

Wine on the River

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 3 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: RIVERFRONT PARK $25 - $85

Head to Riverfront Park on Saturday, September 8 from 3 pm - 7 pm for the 16th Annual Wine on the River to sample wines from different regions around the globe. Sample wine, beer, and spirits at this event. Restaurants featuring culturally themed menus will have food available for purchase. Wine On the River is a rain or shine event and no refunds will be given. NOTE: Wine on the River Nashville will be held in a new venue this year, Riverfront Park. 

 

Symposium: Chaos and Awe: Painting for the 21st Century

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 10 AM - 5 PM
LOCATION: FRIST ART MUSEUM $30 MEMBERS; $40 NON-MEMBERS; $20 STUDENTS AND UNIVERSITY FACULTY

The Frist Art Museum will hold a symposium to coincide with the major exhibition Chaos and Awe: Painting for the 21st Century. During this all-day event, artists Ghada Amer, Ali Banisadr, and Matthew Ritchie (an essayist for the catalogue as well as a participating artist) will discuss their work and the larger themes of the exhibition. Catalogue contributor Media Farzin, a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts and Sotheby's Institute of Art, New York, will add her thoughts on contemporary history paintings on view in the exhibition. Frist Art Museum chief curator Mark Scala will moderate the sessions.

 

Sculpture Unveiling and Bernstein Centennial Celebration

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 8 PM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER $60 - $146

Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero and the Nashville Symphony return from their summer hiatus on Saturday, September 8, to kick off the 2018/19 season with the Bernstein Centennial Opening Night, a one-night-only performance that will honor one of America’s most influential and revered composers. The concert is part of a nationwide, yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth. As part of the opening festivities, a bronze bust of Guerrero by California artist Alicia Ponzio will be unveiled in the Schermerhorn’s Main Lobby prior to the performance. The pre-concert sculpture unveiling promises to add a unique element to the Nashville Symphony’s opening night, introducing another distinctive feature to the Schermerhorn’s architecture and design. The bust was commissioned by Nashville Symphony patrons Dr. Zeljko and Tanya Radic specifically for the Schermerhorn.

 

12th Annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 10 AM - 4:30 PM
LOCATION: EAST BANK LANDING FREE FOR SPECTATORS

The Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival combines the excitement of racing with the beauty and spectacle of Nashville's diverse culture. In Chinese tradition, the dragon is a symbol of health and prosperity, and dragon boat racing inspires health and fitness among participants as well as spectators. The races begin at 11 am and four teams will compete in a 250-meter race approximately every 10 minutes. One team will be crowned the Grand Champion during the awards ceremony at 4:30 pm. Want to volunteer for the 12th Annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival? There are three shifts available between 8:15 am and 5 pm with a multitude of volunteer activities. Sign up here if you're interested. 

 

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 10 AM; 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CHILDREN'S THEATRE $10

Star light, star bright, first star we see... wait a minute... little star isn’t in the nighttime sky! Where can it be? It’s up to two stalwart starkeepers to search the galaxy and solve this cosmic cliffhanger in an interactive, immersive theatrical experience especially designed for the youngest of theatre goers.

 

Petey's Preds Party

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 5 PM
LOCATION: BRIDGESTONE ARENA $100

Petey's Preds Party accompanies the Brent Peterson Golf Classic and is an evening at Bridgestone Arena that features a stand-up comedian, rare hockey items up for auction and delicious food. The eighth annual Petey's Preds Party includes a performance by stand-up comedian Joe List. In 2015, List was a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing and had his own half-hour comedy special on Comedy Central. 

 

Luke's 32 Bridge Party on Broadway

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 6:30 PM
LOCATION: LOWER BROADWAY FREE

Luke Bryan will play a free street concert — Luke's 32 Bridge Party on Broadway — in front of his new Lower Broadway restaurant and bar, Luke's 32 Bridge Food + Drink on Monday, September 10. The concert, which will include Bryan's full setlist, is part of the grand opening festivities for his restaurant and bar. The event starts at 6:30 pm. 

Please note: road closures associated with this event. 
- Broadway (2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue) will be closed at 2 am on Monday, September 10 and will reopen by 2 am on Tuesday, September 11
- Broadway (3rd Avenue to 4th Avenue) will be closed at 1 pm on Monday, September 10 and will reopen by 2 am on Tuesday, September 11
- 3rd Avenue (Commerce to Demonbreun) will be closed at 5:30 pm on Monday, September 10 and will reopen by 11:59 pm on Monday, September 10

Hospitality Job Fair

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1 PM - 7 PM
LOCATION: ROCKETOWN FREE

Holiday Inn & Suites Nashville Downtown Convention Center, a full-service hotel scheduled to open in SoBro later this fall, is hosting a job fair on Monday, September 10. The job fair will be at the Rocketown complex in the White Annex Building, 522 5th Avenue South. Seventy-five positions are available including front desk, housekeeping, engineering, servers, bartenders, hosts, culinary team, dishwashers and bar backs. Plus, banquet and meeting professionals. Interested applicants may register for the job fair on Eventbrite. If unable to attend on September 10, individuals can also stop by the office at 600 4th Ave S to apply in person.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Singer-Songwriter Session

The Library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres on Tuesdays through October 9. Tuesday, September 11 features performances by Beth Nielsen Chapman, Mary Gauthier and Ashley Cleveland.

 

ARTlabs on Domestic Violence Awareness

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM
LOCATION: FRIST ART MUSEUM $5

Join teaching artist Dee Kimbrell at one of these locations to create an artwork on domestic violence awareness. Participate in an open discussion with a YWCA domestic violence educator, followed by art-making with Kimbrell.

 

USMNT vs. Mexico

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 7:30 PM
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM $50 - $360

The United States men's national soccer team represents the U.S. in international soccer against Mexico on Tuesday, September 11. The matchup will take place in the first FIFA international window after the conclusion of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It’s the first time this legendary rivalry will make a stop in Nashville.

 

IAFF Local 140 9/11 Memorial

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 8:30 AM - 9 AM
LOCATION: SCHERMERHORN SYMPHONY CENTER

Members of The IAFF Local 140, Nashville Fire Department Director Chief William Swann, Mayor David Briley and other leaders will gather to honor first responders killed on September 11, 2001. On that tragic day in 2001 our country lost 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 Emergency Medical Technicians as they responded to the attacks on the World Trade Centers. This is the 11th year IAFF Local 140 has commemorated the lives lost on September 11 at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, located on the 3rd Avenue South side of the center. During the ceremony, the IAFF Local 140 Honor Guard will present the colors, and they will read the names of Nashville Fire Department personnel who have passed away since last September. Mayor David Briley will join Nashville Fire Department Director Chief William Swann and IAFF Local 140 President Mark Young to lay a wreath at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial. The memorial is open to the public.

 

Americana Music Festival

The 19th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference will take place September 11-16, gathering thousands of artists, fans, and industry professionals from all over the world. Each year, AMERICANAFEST® brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, fans, and industry professionals for six days of music and education. Nashville Art Walk

Create your own custom walking tour of downtown Nashville! Our Nashville Art Walk features over 80 downtown destinations. Curate the tour to one that features places of interest to you: architecture, art, history, music, government and more. A map with distance information and the estimated route time will be generated after you make your selections. 

Best Ride on Two Wheels

Get your heart pumping with Nashville B-cycle! There are over 275 bright red bikes located at 36 B-stations around Nashville. The $5 access pass includes an unlimited number of rides that are 60 minutes or less during a 24 hour period. The 7-day pass is only $10 and an annual membership is $50. TIP: keep all rides under 60 minutes to avoid overage fees. B-cycle has a responsive website and an app.
