Activities that remain include Corporate Tug-of-War at noon on Thursday in Walk of Fame Park and Adult Recess from 11 am - 2 pm on Friday in Public Square (food trucks, free frozen treats, giant games to play and more). Americana Music Festival

THROUGH SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16

The 19th annual Americana Music Festival & Conference will takes place through September 16, gathering thousands of artists, fans, and industry professionals from all over the world. Each year, AMERICANAFEST® brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, fans, and industry professionals for six days of music and education. School of Rock

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, ALL PERFORMANCES: 7:30 PM

School of Rock is a New York Times Critics' Pick and "an inspiring jolt of energy, joy and mad skillz!". Based on the hit film, this hilarious new musical follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star posing as a substitute teacher who turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. This high-octane smash features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie, and musical theater's first-ever kids rock band playing their instruments live on stage. Vanity Fair raves, "fists of all ages shall be pumping!"

 

Street Eats

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 11 AM - 2 PM

Enjoy a gathering of up to 20 local food trucks parked along Deaderick Street between 4th Avenue North and 5th Avenue North every Thursday! The trucks serve lunch from 11 am to 2 pm. The food truck line-up is usually posted herePlease note: road closure associated with this event. Deaderick Street (from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue) will be closed from 10 am - 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

 

Music with a Mission

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: NASHVILLE CITY CENTER FREE

Music with a Mission is a free, weekly concert hosted by Alliance Partners LLC HSP on Nashville City Center's outdoor plaza. Every Thursday, downtown employees, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy live music from up-and-coming local artists. Also, food for sale from a variety of local vendors each week. Kyle Cox will perform on September 13. Kyle's latest record was produced by Mike Marsh of The Avett Brothers and out on Rock Ridge Records.

 

ARTlabs on Domestic Violence Awareness

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 3:45 PM - 5:45 PM
LOCATION: FRIST ART MUSEUM $5

Join teaching artist Dee Kimbrell at one of these locations to create an artwork on domestic violence awareness. Participate in an open discussion with a YWCA domestic violence educator, followed by art-making with Kimbrell.

 

River Talk: Asian Carp in Tennessee Waters

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, NOON - 1 PM
LOCATION: THE BRIDGE BUILDING EVENT: FREE; LUNCH: $10 OR BRING YOUR OWN

Asian carp has become a major problem in Tennessee waters. Asian carp were introduced to the United States in the 1970's for aquaculture and were then unintentionally introduced to the country's waters. This talk will provide an update on the Asian carp presence in the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers and what the TWRA is trying to do about this invasion. This event will be held in Suite 300 of the Bridge Building at Cumberland River Compact's the River Center. Parking: Free parking is available in Lot R South of the Nissan Stadium parking lot. Permitted parking is available in Lot R NW. Map and passes are below.

Sweat in the Gulch

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 8 AM - 3 PM
LOCATION: THE GULCH FREE

lululemon Nashville, Nashville Fit Magazine, Market Street Enterprises and barre3 are teaming up to bring The Gulch a day of sweat, connection, and social impact! Join in from 8 am - 3 pm in The Gulch (graffiti mural parking lot across from Milk and Honey) as they feature classes from some of Nashville's favorite studios. Click here to view the schedule. This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for class participation as space is limited. All class tickets are donation based, and any amount is greatly appreciated. Proceeds will go to The New Beginnings Center, a local non-profit empowering women to begin new and better ways of healthy living. All you need is a yoga mat! Food and beverages will be available for sale onsite to all that attend. 

 

Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, NOON
LOCATION: NISSAN STADIUM $39 - $285

The Tennessee Titans will take on the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, September 16! Please note: road closures associated with this event. The Woodland Street Bridge will close beginning at 9 am and will be available to only pedestrians and shuttle buses through the conclusion of the game. Plus, the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be open to eastbound and westbound traffic until the beginning of the fourth quarter. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, westbound traffic on the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be open for game traffic only. All other westbound traffic will be diverted at South 4th Street and I-24.

 

Game-Day Express Train

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 10 AM - 11 AM

After anticipating service would not be available for Titans fans this year due to the lack of a sponsor, the Tennessee Titans have stepped in to save the Game-Day Express train. The Game-Day Express train will operate for all Tennessee Titans regular season home games, beginning with the September 16 game against the Houston Texans. Service begins in Lebanon with stops in Martha, Hamilton Springs, Mt. Juliet, Hermitage, and Donelson before arriving in downtown Nashville. Round-trip train tickets for all Titans regular season home games are $10 each, allowing fans to travel responsibly and enjoy the game without stress over parking prices and downtown traffic. Children age 4 and younger will not need a ticket to board; however, they are required to sit in a parent's lap. Tickets must be acquired in advance by going online to MusicCityStar.org or TicketsNashville.com. Tickets are not available for purchase on the train on game days. Weekday Music City Star tickets and passes are not valid on the Game-Day Express train.

 

Courtyard Concerts: Riders in the Sky

The Library's hit music series is back for another season! Bring a lunch to the courtyard and enjoy free music by top acts in many genres on Tuesdays through October 9. Tuesday, September 18 features a performance by Riders in the Sky.

Nashville Songwriter Awards

Legendary songwriter-artist Bill Anderson will receive the organization’s highest honor, the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award. Additional honorees will include the 2018 “Song of the Year,” “Songwriter of the Year,” “Songwriter-Artist of the Year” and NSAI’s coveted “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written” which are chosen by Nashville’s professional songwriters. Confirmed performers include Carly Pearce, Chris Janson and LANCO.
